25.01.2022 What’s better than one ASSSS? Three of them!!!! Well done to our fencers Jonathon Paratz and Fuller November’s Carranza cup. Fuller took out first place . Special mention to our glorious leader Christopher Godwin for being an awesome boss man fighter. Thanks BSIS for hosting us, a professional and well run event as always.

23.01.2022 The School is using the hall for an awards night or some such thing tonight. Sadly that means we can't be smacking each other up with swords at the same time. Catch you all next week where we'll be having Craig Gemeiner in to run a La Canne workshop.

Well done to Daniel Arnold and Emma Fowler who took the gold in the open longsword and womans division Also congratulations to Chanara Gettons who came third in the womans division as well. Awesome work to all of our fencers who fenced, Marshalled and scored. ... Good luck to everyone in the Sword and buckler and rapier tomorrow.

20.01.2022 Last Sunday the Brisbane School of Iberian Swordsmanship once again hosted the Carranza Cup for 2018. This is a wonderful medium intensity event which allows fencers to test themselves in a more forgiving environment. Congratulations to Phil Hip from ASSSS for taking the top spot on the day! ASSSS also provided 3 of the "BOSS" fencers for the event, and the other ASSSS fencers (Ben, Jessica, Meaghan and Chanara) also fought with great tenacity, courage, skill and a little bit of trolling as well :P Thank Lois & Laura for the photos!

19.01.2022 Sadly we are CANCELING TONIGHT over health concerns in regards to the current outbreak of the Plague in queensland. Hopefully it is just a precaution & over the next week we'll just be shown to be over reacting. Either way better safe than dead or ending up with the lungs of a WW1 gas bombardment survivor.

15.01.2022 Another tournament, and another victory for ASSSS, with Chrisopher Godwin taking out the Gold in Sabre at the Prima Spada Sabre tournament!, with senior fencers Emma and Dan coming in at 4th and 5th respectively. Thanks to all those who gave us some great matches and thanks to the Prima Spada School of Fence for running another great event!

11.01.2022 Our fencers have finished pillaging the south and have arrived home safely! Thank you to Toby Lunn and the Big Tree club for hosting us and for the fantastic tournament. All of our fencers had great fights that were run smoothly and efficiently. Big thank you to Lev and others from Big Tree for your exceptional marshalling through the whole event. ... 07.01.2022 Fresh off the work bench - a unique complex hilted rapier based on 17th century Spanish examples complete with scabbard and suspension system. Christopher organ...ised this commission to be as historically accurate as possible to allow him to further explore and understand the work of Gerard Thibaul. The main thing that sets this one apart is the blade characteristics, the 10mm thick base tapering down to 3mm at the tip combined with the aggressive profile taper creates a whole different feeling in the hand. While it makes the forging process more intensive and the overall weight slightly heavier than usual the results are worth it in my opinion. Here are the stats. Overall length - 1225mm Blade length - 1110mm (44 inch) Weight - 1170 grams Pob - 103mm Thickness - 10mm - 3mm Width - 16.7mm - 4.5mm Blade - 5160 spring steel Guard and pommel - 304SS and 421SS Scabbard - wood core, felt lining and leather Thanks for looking

02.01.2022 This weekend the Queensland Knife show is on. Brad White one of the worlds best bladesmiths is going to have a stall there. Brad happens to be a local Queensland man & trains in HEMA as well as making the highest quality training swords for our hobby. If you have the time definitely get to the knife show this weekend & show him some support.
