17.01.2022 The second issue is Covid we all know what is taking place, I would encourage everyone to get the covid shot as there is no doubt that we may not be able to move around the country as we do for work. Visiting our friends and family interstate with out having the covid vaccine will come to an end, the sooner we all are all vaccinated the safer it will be for our families, friends and work mates and restrictions will be lifted and movement will be back to normal, lets all have the vaccine and get some normality back into our lives
09.01.2022 Philip Fishbone Pretlove 06/11/1959 01/15/2021 The passing of a great man a mate among mates and friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Philip was well known throughout the shearing industry and represented Australia in England in the late 80's, Philip won numerous shearing completions throughout Australia, he shore in most states and was one of the best quality and quantity shearers the industry has seen. Philip loved the out doors, fishing and Hunting were his passions, a great fisherman and encouraged anyone to take up a rod and line, a great shot and loved duck hunting with his mates and he knew more about wetlands than most. Could tell a good story and made many laugh you will be sadly missed Rest In Peace Philip Fishbone Pretlove
07.01.2022 A couple of issues have arisen since early this year firstly the issue of rates of pay. There seems to be a lot of confusion as to what the actual rate of pay is to shear a sheep, the award is $3.31 per sheep however earlier this year to retain staff in the shearing industry the contractors association and industry agreed to lift the rate to $3.80 per head all associated workers were given the rate rise shed staff also eg shedhands $75.00 in some cases. While the majority of ...contractors followed the recommendations some chose to stay on the award others went to $4.00 to retain their staff, there now seems to be some confusion as to what employees are entitled to. The bottom line is if you are currently getting the award a 1000 sheep would be worth $3,331.60 if you are getting $4.00 you would be getting $4000.00 per thousand the difference is $668.40 per week over 10 weeks $6,684.00 in 40 weeks you could have an additional $26,736.00 Its not that hard to work out so if you are shearing for less you are probably robbing your self. So when you are about to take a job ask first what the contractor or farmer is paying don't wait until you have done the shed and complain See more
