24.01.2022 Opening hours over the Christmas break. We are open next Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (29-31 Dec) and we then open back up on the Monday (4th Jan) You can call on those days or message me to book your car in for service or repairs. We also do air con servicing and repairs if required. Have a great Christmas :)

23.01.2022 Oil sludge as shown by the filter on the left is caused by infrequent oil changes. This will greatly reduce your engines life and can result in very costly repairs. Many modern vehicles require a fully synthetic engine oil. Are these cheap services advertised using the correct engine oil listed for your vehicle? Autosolve use the correct oil specified for each individual vehicle. We use the best quality Castrol and Penrite oils.

23.01.2022 Some info for the week. If you can hear a whirring or rumbling sound when driving there is a good chance your wheel bearings are failing. You will most likely hear it at higher speeds and often the sound will change with speed and/or if you are turning. If they are left too long the wheel could come loose or in extreme cases come off. The first picture shows a wheel bearing which has badly failed The part on the left of the second picture shows what a tapered bearing looks li...ke with multiple cylindrical rollers (which are missing from the failed bearing as they fell off when the bearing was removed.) The part on the right is what the failed bearing should look like with a nice smooth surface. You cant always assume a whirring or rumbling noise is going to be a wheel bearing failing as many other things can cause this such as tyres, gearbox and differentials. However they are a very common part to fail due to general wear and tear, incorrect installation or from being submerged in water and mud (common for 4x4s) See more

22.01.2022 Is your car running rough? We can diagnose your vehicles running problem. We had an odd running problem in recently. Sometimes when turning right at a roundabout the vehicle would run rough and come up with misfire engine code. After much searching it became very obvious when removing the fuel pump assembly. Fuel was contaminated and debris was blocking the fuel pickup area. Vehicle must have got some very bad fuel.

22.01.2022 One reason to check the wear of the whole tyre. A customer came in for a balance and rotate as they had a slight wobble in their steering wheel. The outside of the tyre looked good but if you turned the wheels on full lock or lie down on the floor to have a look you can see the real reason for the wobble. This tyre could have failed causing an accident. When checking your tyres get a torch or lie down on the floor so you can see all of the tyre. It is common for the inside edge to get worn. If you are unsure about your tyres condition come in for us to have a look. We can supply and fit multiple brands and sizes.

18.01.2022 We had someone enquiring about a Handbook service today. We were cheaper than the dealer so she booked it in. The customer then called back to cancel as she spoke to the dealer again and they said she has to take it back to the dealer to keep their warranty. This is not the case unless you have an extended warranty that states you have to go back to the dealer. We understand that customers do not want to lose their warranty, and would feel very uneasy if the dealer told them ...no one else could service their vehicle. 17.01.2022 Finally sorted the login. Will post tips and pictures when I have time and when examples come into the workshop. For now here is a nice shiny engine from the coupe.

14.01.2022 Engine check light on? This customers VZ Commodore had an engine check light on and a bad smell. Luckily she came straight to Autosolve as the ignition coil had failed and had smoke coming out of it. It could have been a fire hazard. The picture shows a good ignition coil on the left and the melted broken one on the right which came apart as it was removed. It is not common for an ignition coil to fail this badly. Usually they make the car run rough and loose power. But with electronics anything can happen. One reason to not ignore that engine check light.

12.01.2022 Another extra we do as part of our Maintenance service is clean your vehicles air flow sensor. This sensor calculates how much air is going into your engine. Over time they get dirty and give incorrect readings which can result in poor fuel economy and rough running.

12.01.2022 Do you have a Toyota Kluger with a knocking noise or harshness in the steering wheel? Chances are it is the steering intermediate shaft, which goes from your steering wheel to the steering rack. You can see in the second picture the brownish residue which is the joint rusting and slowly small parts of metal wearing away. They also seize and wear in the telescopic part which can cause the same symptoms. You maybe lucky and Toyota may repair your car under warranty, even if it is out of new car warranty provided your vehicle ist too old and hasnt done too many kms. We recommended one customer to do this and a week later we received a lovely phone call from customer thanking us for our honesty, as Toyota carried out the repair free of charge after we diagnosed the fault.

10.01.2022 Just a reminder for people with cars under warranty.

10.01.2022 Sorry we havent posted in a while. As part all vehicle services the brakes and tyres are thoroughly checked. They may look fine when the vehicle is on the road, however once the wheels are off or the vehicle is lifted on the hoist they can be inspected for any wear on damage. This brake discs had a casting fault most likely due to poor quality parts. The back side of the disc had worn down a hole. The tyre had plenty of tread and no damage on the outside of it however the inside edge had a nasty cut which could cause the tyre to fail.

08.01.2022 Common fault on Hyundai and Kia vehicles is a knock in the steering. These vehicles have electronic assisted power steering which can be very costly to replaced. The knock however is caused by a rubber bush/coupling. The one picture shows the old worn out coupling next to the new one. Once this repair is carried out the vehicles steering computer needs calibrating with our high tech scan tool. Much cheaper than a new steering column assembly from Hyundai.

07.01.2022 Selecting the correct tyre for your vehicle is very important as they greatly influence your safety and driving experience. Your tyres are what keep your car on the road. You need to purchase the correct tyre, which means the correct size, load rating and speed rating. You also need to consider how the vehicle is being used. If your car is being used for lots of high speed, long distance trips you need to be more vigilant in checking your tyres for wear, damage and age cracking, as high speeds and long distances can make your tyres get hotter, increasing the risk of failure if they are in poor condition or if you have the incorrect rated tyre. Tread pattern is another factor that needs to be considered when choosing a tyre. Autosolve can help you choose the correct brand and tread pattern depending on your needs. If you have a four wheel drive you need to consider how often you take the vehicle off road and what sort of off road driving you do. Our Air con Service includes: -Inspecting the system for any mechanical or electrical faults (if we find a fault you will be charged $65 for the diagnosis not the full price).... -Pressure test and vacuum test to find any major leaks. -Vacuum/cleaning the system out for 40 minutes to remove any moisture which can cause damage and make the system less effective at cooling the air. -Recharging the system with the correct R134 refrigerant which also includes a UV dye which can help in leak detection if there are hard to find leaks at a latter date. -Inspect air con compressor drive belt -Pollen filter inspection and clean out. (dual air con systems have surcharge)

04.01.2022 Using good quality parts that are correctly listed for your vehicle is important. We recently diagnosed a misfire and also found the previous mechanic had only replaced 3 out 4 spark plugs. As can be seen by the spark plug on the left being a different brand and the incorrect type. We use good quality NGK spark plugs. The spark plug on the far right has a black line on the white ceramic part which is a sign of a misfire. Car not running as it should?
