23.01.2022 As Gladys mentioned at today's media conference, representatives from the local Business Chambers (Mona Vale, Newport & Avalon/Palm Beach) and businesses met via Zoom with Federal and State Ministers to discuss the impacts Northern Beaches business are facing due to the current COVID crisis. Federal Small Business Minister (Senator Michaelia Cash), NSW Treasurer (Dominic Perrottet), NSW Small Business Minister (Damien Tudehope), NSW Small Business Commissioner (Chris Lamont),... Member for Mackellar (Jason Falinski MP) and Member for Pittwater (Rob Stokes MP) heard key concerns and suggested solutions including: - The need for immediate cash injection in the way of grants, - rental relief and mediation support between landlords and tenants, - mental health support and - fixing the long-term reputational damage to the area, in particular to Avalon where there is also wide-spread impact on the broader community that caters to holiday makers and visitors. Immediate outcomes are the ATO will be in contact with every business in the Northern Beaches to ensure that they are aware of what funding / subsidies is available to them, NSW Small Business (www.smallbusiness.nsw.ov.au) has extended the rental relief support to the 28 March 2021, they also have staff available for advice and mediation services. The reputation of Avalon and the northern end of the Northern Beaches has been damaged and needs to be fixed URGENTLY! We are calling on Crisis Communication and Marketing specialists out there to help develop a plan to renew the confidence in visiting our Villages and restore the vibrancy we have all worked so hard over the last nine months to rebuild and maintain. 20.01.2022 We are extremely pleased to announce Avalon Beach RSL Club will be back open Monday 11th January from 11am We are so excited to re-open & have patrons back th...rough the doors! The club has been deep cleaned before re-open and our CovidSAFE plan has been updated to reflect new regulations. We ask all patrons to please wear a facemask inside when not eating or drinking, and all patrons must now sign in with the NSW Service app in addition to the standard club sign in procedures.
