25.01.2022 Sunny , blustery conditions greeted us for the third round of the club champs yesterday. Sixteen players battled it out on fairways that are looking mint! Great work by our volunteers. The days winner, and a big mover in the B grade club champs was Huw Jones with nett 70. Runner up was Heath Wyllie who baked up a very nice 71 nett. The 14th nearest the pin was the only one claimed , Graeme Toy taking the honour.... Jed got the drive and pitch on 7 and Dale on 17. Club championship will be decided today, Dale Smith and Ollie Aitken will be looking to run down Jed for the title. B and C grade club champs are very close with it all coming down to today . Huw Jones and Bernie are tied for B grade with Matt Eddy two further back and Heath a couple more. Max Jones and Howard Geldard are tied in C grade with Shane Black and David Grecian not too far away. Looks like another belter of a day today, good luck to everyone playing.

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, just a reminder - AGM this coming Wednesday, 7.30pm at Clubhouse. Please make an effort to be there.

24.01.2022 Greetings everyone, forecast is looking ok for Saturday and the course is in tip top condition so who’s playing? Once again, Members from other clubs are most welcome to join us. Ladies please let me know your intentions by Friday evening so I can do a draw. And of course, the men should contact Jared. See you on Saturday.

24.01.2022 Windy conditions this morning for the junior 6 hole comp and the second round of the 6 hole junior champs. 3 players beat their handicaps which was fantastic! Scratch was won by a golfer who is often in the shadow of his older brother, but he stepped out of it today, putting 1 under par on the board, taking the days scratch event and putting himself on top of the leaderboard in the overall event with one round to go! Well done Campbell Smith.... Runner up Lindsay Smith with 4 over and third was Caspar Leunig. The handicap event was a close call, but an equally impressive round by Max Harding, who has been steadily improving week by week, made him the winner with nett 4 under! 3 shots back and runner up was Hudson Black, with Frankie Eagles third. Well done everyone, one round to go next week and we'll crown our junior champs for the year, with a couple of trophies sponsored by Aequum Accountants and JCS Electrical Solutions.

23.01.2022 Unfortunately we will not be able to continue to run the junior golf competition under the current restrictions. We will provide an update when the situation changes and we can resume. We encourage our junior golfers to continue to use the course to practice with a parent if possible, observing the proper precautions with hand sanitiser etc.

23.01.2022 Sunday morning golf is on again tomorrow. 9am gather for a 930 start.

23.01.2022 Don't forget last day of junior golf for 2020 tomorrow. Gather at 9:15 for a 9:30 start

22.01.2022 What a day! Great to be back in to comp golf. The meteorologists said 10-20mm of rain during the week, just shows they have as much idea as I do when I’m 10meters from the sand!... Beautiful day for golf, bit of wind but nothing to worry about. Good field of men (and boys) took on the white course today. The winner was a young bloke who confessed before his round that he’d never put two nines together....well he did today! 75 off the stick and 43 points! Well done Ollie Aitken! Great young man to boot. Runner up , on a count back , with 39 points was Lindsay Smith in front of little brother Campbell. Ntp s went to 5th Dale Smith, 14th Ollie Aitken, 18th Dale Smith. Drive and Pitch 7th Russell Marsden, 17th Ollie Aitken. Balls went to Lindsay, Campbell , Bernie Stevens (37) , Terry Lowis and Adam Harrap (36 ). Next week we will be playing the September monthly medal and from all reports welcoming a few players from Beechworth GC. Tuesday golf is on as well, 0930 for a 10 tee off, someone better get down there and give Daveo and Toysy a run for their money! Course looks great, Club Champs on soon, and a visit to Beechworth to repay their visit on the cards soon. Good time to be a golfer! Cheers Jed

22.01.2022 Avenel junior golf had a bumper field today. 13 players tee’d it up. The stroke event went to Lindsay Smith with 1 under 23 off the stick through 6 holes which is a great score. Runner up was Flynn O’Brien in his first game back, good sign for things to come. Handicap winner was a Caspar Leunig with 23 nett and Frankie Eagles had a great round with her mum Leonie watching to narrowly finish second. Happy Birthday Lachie OB! The lockdown is costing us some players, and I feel ...for them, but the theory is , if they do the right thing , and everyone else does, this will all be sorted sooner rather than later. So to Alex, Nick , Cam , Harry R , Howard , Willy , Owen , Greg , hang in there and we’ll see you back on the course ASAP! Scoota Donovan wouldn’t be around much regardless so we’ll see you every couple of month or so! There were 18 men playing golf today at Avenel, but none of them stood a chance because there was one bush ranger! Huwy Jones bought a new driver and a golf game to match, streeting the field with a 63 nett. Well done Huw and congratulations on your first monthly medal and $47.50 club voucher. Runner up was Ollie Aitken who self professed that he wasn’t at his best, still , played to his handicap to record 72nett. Matt Eddy brought his mate Xavier down from Beechworth and the Beechworthian found the going tough at Royal Avenel, but Matt came in third place so the company must have been good. Nearest the pins, 14 went to Craig Flavel in his first competition round at Avenel, with a fine shot that hopefully eased the pain of his 5iron on 11 a little. 18 was evergreen Lance Carracher , who had more lip outs today than I’ve had hot dinners. No birdies on no. 10 or drive and pitch’s. Balls down the line were Ollie , Matthew Eddy, I , Rich Eddy, and the author can’t remember the other.(apologies) Thanks to Ollie for racing out this morning and fixing the scraper on 6 after it had an argument with a mower. Also to everyone doing their part around the course. The $70 meat tray sponsored by Scott and Neisha from Avenel Meats was won by Graeme Toy. Happy Birthday also to Anne Burns! Cheers Jed Over to the ladies...

22.01.2022 Another great day of golf at Avenel! The weather rocked up as well! 15 juniors graced the course this morning. Fantastic numbers!... Well done everyone The scratch event turned into a two horse race, Ryan Ezard was up by two going down the last. Then Lindsay Smith lipped out for a hole one, Ryan putted in for three from just off the green and it was all over! Great stuff. Campbell finished third with some good golf through his six holes. The handicap winner was Ned Butler , great work Ned, he is out there week in , week out, honing his skills. Runner up was Caspar Leunig, with Archie Butler not far behind. The men had 19 players today in ideal conditions. Ideal scores were expected, and a few gents delivered The winner of the $47.50 voucher was Jameson Black with a terrific 43 points. Jameson is new to golf but with his balanced approach will be one to watch in the future! The Captain had a day out and finished second with 41 points ,(73 gross) with great company to boot. Terry Lowis had a good day with 40points, in the winning group. Balls also went to Brent Davies , four on the floor Adam Harrap and Ollie Aitken. Ntp on the 5th Jed 14th and 18th unclaimed Drive and pitch 7th Ollie Aitken 17th Jed Birdie hole was Jed on the 11th, one of 3in a row. Big thank you to the parents walking with the juniors, Graeme Toy and Bill Harmeston mowing the fairways. Terry Lowis on the Iseki Bern on the sands and Dave Fullager doing the book! All help greatly appreciated. Next week is a pinehurst event sponsored by JCS Electrical Solutions. Draw for partners. See you there!

22.01.2022 11 juniors graced our course this morning in our biggest turnout since we started back up again. A special shout out to our sponsor for the day hand stitched by Rachel. 2 amazing beanies on offer today and the contest was tight! Newcomer Hudson Black impressed, coming in 3rd place behind the Smith boys (Lindsay and Campbell) in our scratch event. Well done Huddy!... Ned Butler was our handicap winner today (congratulations on the warm ears courtesy of that ripper new beanie Ned) closely followed by the always consistent Frankie Eagles and Max "Maximum effort" Harding. We are going to change things up in the next few weeks and throw in some team events and possibly another sponsored event on the way. So keep practicing guys!

22.01.2022 This week's meat tray raffle kindly sponsored by Avenel Meats was won by Russell Allen. Another happy winner no doubt!

22.01.2022 How good was the weather today? 14 juniors took to the course today to play an Ambrose event. Great numbers! Flynn O’Brien and Arden Reid came out victorious with a fantastic 9 under nett to win the day. Great job Arden in your second game! Runner up was Lindsay and Sadie, in Sadie’s first game, well done.... Ryan and Ripley were placed third. The members played a pinehurst any combination event sponsored by JCS Electrical. Good numbers were had with 28 players taking on the short course in a combined event. Good event for a change up, we welcomed Russell Marsden today for his first game as an Avenel resident. The winner of the scratch event and $100 cash was Dale Smith and Pam Pedder. Pam must of had big shoulders carrying the Prez around. Runner up scratch was Ollie Aitken and Anne Burns. Handicap winners were Brent Davies the Physio and Bern Stevens the Bricky, a match made in heaven, they combined for the drive and pitch on 17 and Bern claimed the Ntp on 18 as well. Runners up in handicap was there Matt Eddy and Jack Smith who had a great round considering they both stand on the wrong side of the ball. Happy birthday Matt Eddy. Other Ntps went to Dee Wright on 14, and The great man Doug Heffey, straight off the couch, got the 8th . Nobody on the 5th. Drive and Pitch on the 4th was Lance and Duncan. 7th went to Leigh and Marlene. Nobody got 12 . Thanks everyone for the day. Course is looking great. Well done to Campbell Smith on his first 18 hole round at nine years of age. Cheers Jed

21.01.2022 The future of the club!!

21.01.2022 Friday night saw 8 players battle it out in the nine hole comp, Graeme Toy was the winner after a count back saw him beat Tim Batten. Today we had six players for an 18 hole comp in the morning in ideal conditions, playing the front nine off the Championship tees first time round, yellow tees on the second. The Prez, @Dale Smith continued his run of good form with an impressive 40 points, finishing 2 ahead of Jed , with the worst score of the six being 35 points. The balls we...nt to @Alex Smith and @Daniel Butler. Ntp s went to Jed and @Matthew Eddy. Plan to do the Sunday morning 18 holes from now on to beat the heat and hopefully get some cricketers playing too. If anyone has some time could they contact @Bernard Stevens to help get the watering system repaired and ready to go. Cheers Jed

20.01.2022 Another great day at the Royal Avenel today with 24 men suiting up. The weather held off for us and some handy scores were submitted. Fantastic to see Jed finally get some reward for all the work he puts in on the course and around the club. Not many blokes will arrange all the Tee times, mow the fairways, prepare the scrapes and do the handicaps (among 100 other jobs he handles on a weekly basis). 39 points, drive and pitch on 17 and nearest the pin on 18 for a well deserved... day out for our Mens Captain! Willie Wheeler was again in the mix just 2 points behind and he left a fair bit of golf out there on the back 9 after an impressive run around the front (2 over the card was it William? Shame about that double bogey on 1!) Scoota cleaned up the drive and pitch on 7 (any other bloke and I would nearly give that 2 inch putt for Birdie) and perennial club champion Lance tidied up the NTP for the 5th. Finally, the Friday night feed from resident chef Justin was well received by all that attended. Stay tuned as there may be another opportunity in the future to come along for a quality meal.

20.01.2022 The Ladies out-numbered the men on Saturday, with 6 players contesting a stableford round. The scores were pretty good but Maureen King blitzed the field with a terrific 41 points to win the Avenel Pharmacy/Daily Dose voucher - courtesy of owner, Belinda Stevens. Many thanks Belinda. Lauris Truscott also played a great round to score 38 points. Maureen and Lauris were ball winners with Maureen collecting another one for her shot to the 14th. Good luck to the Juniors contesting the final round of their Club Championships next Saturday.

19.01.2022 Early on it rained....a lot. But it turned out to be a great day at Royal Avenel. 12 men took to the course, but only one managed 39 points, @Ollie Aitken took the $30 voucher. Matt Eddy had a very consistent round to take runner up with 35 points. New member Leigh Hancock was impressive off a provisional of 12 to score 34 points in his first comp on sands. The captain also had 34, just getting past the muscle bound bloke from Moorilim with a birdie on their last hole, who h...ad 33. Hubert (if it rains one drop on me I’m outta here) Jones rounded out the balls with 31. No Ntp claims for 5 , 8 or 14. Drive and pitch on the 7th went to @Daniel Butler with two great shots, while Leigh Hancock took the 17th with a nice birdie to boot. Apart from some casual water the course is looking great, another two new members signed up today and thing s are looking up. Have a great weekend and if we get some good weather next week we could get enough for two grades. Cheers See more

18.01.2022 Our Junior 6 hole competition will be starting the 2021 season this Saturday morning. Please arrive at 9:30 for a 9:45 start. $2 entry per player. This year we will expose the kids to a variety of different golf scoring styles such as stableford and par. Along with some opportunities to play team events and perhaps a road trip to other local courses if it can be arranged. A syllabus for the season will be posted on facebook next week. We already have a handful of wonderful sp...onsors but if anyone is interested in further sponsorship opportunities at either junior or senior level please contact Alex Smith on 0488 127 747. We will be playing stroke this week. Looking forward to seeing who has been practicing!

18.01.2022 With competitions once again allowed we will be re-starting the juniors this Saturday morning. One of our members Cameron Bassett has donated a box of balls for prizes so we are stocked up. Slight change in start time be there at 9:15 for a 9:30 tee time to avoid the seniors. Looking forward to seeing which of the kids have been practicing over the break!

18.01.2022 Fantastic turnout this morning for junior golf with 8 players taking on the wind. Flynn O'Brien took the chocolates with 6 over in the scratch event with Archie Butler in 2nd and his brother Ned coming in 3rd. Lachie O'Brien had a day out posting a 9 under net (finishing 1 shot off his first scratch win). The ever reliable Frankie Eagles chipped in on the last hole to finish with a 2 under net with Sadie Harrap in her first podium finish in 3rd place.... Great day all around! Next week we are going to play an Ambrose event with the junior club champs on the horizon.

17.01.2022 It was another great day at Avenel. Weather was a bit cool but no rain and the fairways were amazing!! Only one lady from Euroa this week making 8 ladies for today’s stableford event. While scores weren’t as high as the Men’s, there was an overall improvement across the field. Lyn C collected the winner’s voucher with 36 points. Line balls went to Marlene Hull, Lauris Truscott and Pam Pedder - all had 35 points and Marlene collected another one for her great shot to the 18th. Unfortunately she missed the putt which would’ve given her an extremely impressive 9 putts for that nine. Nevertheless 10 putts was pretty good!! Fantastic to see another great field of 24 for the men’s comp and the juniors keep getting better and better with 11 youngsters lining up today. Well done Avenel

16.01.2022 Guess who’s back?..... Back again!.... Competition is on, we’re still following guidelines , but geez it’s good to be back!... White tee Stableford today, Juniors are back on for next Saturday morning and hopefully the club champs and tournament are around the corner! And if I hit 1 fairway today I’ll be happy! The sun is shining, let’s get amongst it! Cheers Jed

12.01.2022 I reckon we're the most fortunate club around at the moment - we have a great bunch of volunteers who give hours of their time so we can enjoy the best course in the district. Ok, yes, we've got sand greens, but they're in great nick too and our fairways are superb!!! Seven ladies played yesterday, including our little friend Michelle Thomson from Euroa. There was a real Spring feeling in the air and the Wattle trees were in full bloom. Lauris Truscott continued her winning... form scoring a fabulous 41 points to collect the winner's voucher. Line balls went to Lauris and myself (courtesy of a count back - sorry Marlene). Lauris also collected a ball for NTP on the 18th. I know I've mentioned it plenty of times before, but for those players out there who may be struggling with the heavy conditions of their course, you're more than welcome to come to Avenel for a game. We guarantee you'll go home with clean dry shoes!! Well done to the fellas yesterday - 73 of the stick for Captain Jed (41 points) and 43pts for newbie Jameson who knocked the Captain off his perch!! And of course, we can't forget the Juniors - 15 players, fantastic!! This little club is rocking at the moment - keep up the good work everyone!!!

12.01.2022 It was a perfect day for our first Tuesday comp in some time and we were pleased to have a couple of Nagambie ladies in Jo Goodacre and former member, Irene Keogh join us along with local blokes, Dave Fullager and Graeme Toy. We played off the back tees and the going was tough at times, particularly if your shots didn't find the fairway (which was the case with a lot of mine ), however, the score was there to be had. Irene Keogh played very nicely scoring 36 points and coll...ecting Ann Burns' trophy (for the second time). Irene and yours truly (31 points) were ball winners with Irene collecting another one for NTP on the 14th. Just a reminder that all are welcome to play on Tuesdays - we hit off around 10 am. Good golfing to everyone!!

11.01.2022 A skeleton crew of men took on the white course for what looks like being one of the last comps of the year that includes the back nine. The wind was strong, but Terry Lowis didn't notice, as he came out on top with a fine 36 points. 2 points clear of David Grecian, with Dale Smith a further two back. It was great to see the ladies back on the course. ... Remember Friday 9 hole golf has started. $5 entry , play is white tees on the front nine. Organise a partner to play throughout the day or meet at the club house at around 430pm. Cheers

11.01.2022 Glorious day at Royal Avenel GC. Pity about the golf!!

11.01.2022 Hi all, sorry for the late notice but Captain Jed is intending to play 9 holes this arvo, teeing off around 4.30 if anyone is keen!!

09.01.2022 A reminder of our upcoming AGM on Wednesday the 17th Feb - 7.30 pm at clubhouse. Please remember to abide by current Covid guidelines - masks, social distancing etc. If you wish to raise any matters for discussion, they must be submitted in writing to the Secretary (Joyce White) no later than Thursday the 11th February. Opening day has been set for Saturday the 10th April and will be a 3 person Ambrose, draw for partners. Assemble at 11 to register, official opening at 11.30... and hitting off immediately after opening. The course is in need of some TLC and to this end working bees have been arranged for Saturday the 27th February and Saturday the 13th March - 9.30 start on both days and a bbq lunch will be provided. There is a lot to do so please make an effort to attend these working bees, however, feel free to call out to the course at any time and do what you can - every little bit helps. Belated congratulations to Past President Tim Batten on being named Avenel's Citizen of the Year at the recent Australia Day Award - a most worthy recipient!! Well done Tim!!

09.01.2022 With no senior comp on today Alex threw down the challenge to the kids with a soft drink each on the line. Needless to say, he walked away with lighter pockets as the kids rose to the occasion! Campbell Smith won todays scratch event with a 5 over 29. Oliver Davies came in 2nd with 36 and Max Harding close behind in 3rd place (37) James Davies played really well for a net 22 in the handicap and his first win, one shot clear of Owen Smith with net 23 and Lachie O'Brien finish...ed in 3rd with net 28 on a countback from Archie Butler. More than half of the kids beat or matched the adult in the field. Well done! We are taking a week off next week with Alex unavailable and will be back the week after with a bit of a xmas breakup. Stay tuned for details.

07.01.2022 Amazing day for golf and our juniors turned out for round 3 of the junior 6 hole club championships. The results for today were critical in the outcome of the big prize. Campbell Smith again came out on top in the scratch with 1 over. 5 shots in front of big brother Lindsay. Big improver Max Harding was 3rd in todays scratch event.... Owen Smith won the handicap event today with a 22 net on a countback from Max Harding. Frankie Eagles not far behind and Lachie O'Brien played well for 4th. 11 players in total qualified for the club champs and there were some fantastic trophies donated by Total Sports Seymour up for grabs. It came as no surprise when Campbell Smith held the scratch winners trophy aloft with 3 over from his best 2 rounds. Lindsay Smith came in 2nd with 5 over from his best 2. Prizes were sponsored by JCS Electrical solutions. Our handicap champion for 2020 was Max Harding with a fantastic 6 under over his best 2 rounds (reaching his goal of achieving a single figure handicap along the journey). Owen Smith came in 2nd with 2 under from his 2 rounds. Prizes for the handicap were sponsored by Aequum Accountants. Congratulations to our winners and a big thankyou to all the parents that have helped out. We will keep running the saturday morning comp for as long as it's not too hot

07.01.2022 A small field of ladies ventured out on a windy but very pleasant day for golf and it was nice to be back playing competition after a lengthy break! We played a par round off the Yellow tees and Lyn C managed to finish in the positive with +1 to win The Daily Dose/Avenel Pharmacy voucher generously provided by Belinda Stevens. Balls went to Lyn and Marlene Hull who finished square and Dee Wright collected a ball for her shot to the 5th. A reminder that Tuesday golf will resume this coming Tuesday - 9.30 for 10 hit off and it is a unisex comp so all welcome!!

07.01.2022 Mother Nature turned the weather on at Avenel yesterday with ideal conditions greeting the 16 players vying for the Club championship. It all came down to the last round , with what looked for all money like a 3 horse race for the C grade honours, getting turned on its head when David Grecian stormed home to take out the days event and C grade trophy. They were tied at the start of the day’s play and Matt Eddy was only two behind , but Huw Jones showed just how much he’s imp...roved this year to out gun Bernie Stevens and take out the title for B grade. Another young star on the rise saved his best round for last, shooting 38 on the back, Ollie Aitken put together his best round of the championship, but it was a hill too far to catch Jed Smith who is our Club champion for 2020. A big thank you to everyone who participated in the championship, it was great to see the top four in each grade battling it out on the final day. Runner up for the days event was Ollie Aitken with nett 72. Another young player with a bright future hit a fine shot on the 5th to claim the nearest there , well done Jamison Black. With the other par 3s remaining unclaimed. Drive and pitch on 7 was Jed , and 17 was Leigh Hancock, both players knocking in the birdie putts. Birdie hole was 17 also. Balls went to Huw , Dave Fullager , Heath Wyllie and Jed. Congratulations also goes to Lyn and Lance Carracher , the duo travelling to Euroa on Saturday and taking out the mixed pinehurst event there with a great score of 76. Cheers everyone

07.01.2022 Hello all, With the current restrictions, golf is able to be played but only in groups of 2 and with facemasks. Unfortunately the clubhouse will be closed. For a detailed description of the restrictions please check out the golf Australia website. Cheers

06.01.2022 Beautiful morning for the juniors today and we had 10 players for the first round of club champs. Todays winner and the current leader in scratch was Lindsay Smith with 3 over. Closely followed by Flynn O'Brien in second place. With a tie for 3rd between Campbell Smith and Hudson Black 1 shot further back. Campbell got 3rd in the scratch on a countback. There was a 3 way tie for the handicap winner today with Hudson Black beating Owen Smith and Max Harding in the countback.... Well done to all our junior golfers today and hope to see you out there again next week

06.01.2022 Hi everyone, as we will still be in stage 4 lockdown this coming Wednesday, we’ll have to postpone the AGM again. New date will be advised shortly.

06.01.2022 Great day for golf today! Weather held out for all but 5 minutes, course was playing pretty tough! 9 juniors led the charge this morning, including two young ladies which is great to see. Alex was keen to see who’d been practicing over the enforced layoff, and it looked like everyone!... Scratch winner on the day, by 1 shot , was Campbell Smith with a great round of +8. Flynn O’Brien came runner up, the rounds with Nana Pam must be inspiring him to better golf. The handicap win went to Hudson Black with nett -1 on a count back from Max Harding, who has the best backyard golf setup I’ve seen yet! Well done everyone. We had 21 men take on the Championship course. It beat the majority, only one came out on top, second monthly medal for the year and the $50 voucher, Huw Jones . Well done Huwy Jones . Runner up was one of our big hitting visitors from Beechworth, Willem Love with nett 72. We had nearest the pins on all the par 3’s but they went unclaimed. Drive and pitch’s went to , 7th Dylan Pool (another Beechworth bomber) , 17th Dan O’Sullivan (Scoota Donovan ‘s twin brother according to Uncle Bern). Birdie Hole was 13 and Willem Love saluted there too! A great day was enjoyed and we hope to return in kind when Beechworth have their tournament on the 18th of October. Next week will be two person Ambrose, draw for partners, then we will kick off the club champs. If anyone gets a chance to do some work on the course it would be greatly appreciated. Plenty of weed spraying where we can’t mow and general tidy up work to be done under trees. Until next time, happy golfing! Cheers Jed

05.01.2022 Junior comp is unfortunately called off for today due to inclement weather. See you all next week.

05.01.2022 With the addition of 9 ladies from Euroa, our usual field was more than doubled which was fabulous for us and I think it’s safe to say everyone enjoyed the day. We opted for a stableford round and were playing for Captain Lyn’s trophy which was a voucher from the Avenel Pharmacy/Daily Dose Café. Annie Burns played well scoring 35 points to claim the voucher and runner-up was Justine Collins from Euroa with 34 points looks like you and Marcus need to have another crack nex...t week Jus!! Ball winners were Anne, Justine, Lauris Truscott (33) and Annette Smith (32). NTP 2nd shot on the 8th went to Lyn C while Dee Wright claimed the ball for her shot to the 14th. Special thanks to the Euroa ladies (and men) for joining us on Saturday - you're always welcome! Don't forget the dinner this Friday evening. As numbers are restricted due to COVID regulations there will be 2 sittings - 6pm and 7.30. The menu sounds great - there will be a choice of Pollo Pistachio (seasoned chicken breast (skin on) with a white wine cream pistachio sauce reduction), or Scotty’s (Avenel Meats) braised beef ribs, both served on a bed of smashed chats, seasoned corn and asparagus), tasty homemade chicken nuggets for the kids and some delicious deserts. The cost is $30 for adults and $10 for kids. As previously mentioned due to COVID regulations, numbers are limited and bookings must be in by 5pm Wednesday the 1st of July with President Dale, Jared or Lyn. Social distancing regulations and requirements will be strictly adhered to.

04.01.2022 Junior golf is on tomorrow morning. Normal times. We are going to do a 6 hole junior club champions competition over a couple of weeks. There will be a trophy for the scratch and handicap winner. Hope to see all of our talented juniors vying for the silverware!

02.01.2022 In light of todays developments we will not be re-starting the junior golf tomorrow morning. New start date TBA

02.01.2022 Royal Avenel is looking pretty schmick for the 3rd and 4th rounds of Men’s club champs this coming weekend!! A monumental thank-you to our volunteers for all their hard work to get our course looking sooo good!! Good luck and good hitting to all players on Saturday and Sunday.

01.01.2022 Hello everyone, Due to current COVID restrictions we are unable to proceed with the AGM this coming Wednesday the 17th Feb. All being well, it will now be held on Wednesday the 24th February at 7.30 pm in the clubhouse.... The Agenda is posted on the outside notice board, the front door and the inside notice board at the clubhouse and is also posted on the Notice board at Newtons store. A reminder, if you wish to raise any matter/s for discussion, they must be submitted in writing no later than the 18th February to Secretary, Joyce White. I’ve endeavoured to contact as many members as possible via email (obviously I don’t have everyone’s email tho), our facebook page and messenger app on mobile phone so hopefully we’ll get a good roll-up on the night. See you all Wednesday the 24th at 7.30. Regards, Lyn C (On behalf on Joyce White, Secretary).

01.01.2022 2 man Ambrose off the whites today and 2 of Avenels favorite sons got the job done. Maxy Jones finished a whole lot of good work done early by Scoota Donovans lovechild Dan O'Sullivan (not here in body but his spirit is getting the job done). Dans drives and pitches were impeccable and Max nailed all of the 2 footers he missed. 2nd place half a shot behind were Matt Eddy and Adam Harrap with Huw Jones and club champs favorite Ollie Aitken another half a shot adrift.
