17.01.2022 There are reports today of some inappropriate content circulating around social media today. There are some distressing videos that aren’t appropriate, especially for children. If your older children are on social media it is recommended that you check in with them to see if they’ve seen the video. Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636 Kids Helpline 1800 55 1800

17.01.2022 The grade 5/6s have enjoyed a fantastic first day at Anglesea Camp. Highlights included bike riding, some great games and an evening beach walk. Ready for a good night’s sleep!

17.01.2022 Under the Chief Health Officer's advice, all staff at Avenel Primary School will be wearing a face mask where it is appropriate to do so. The advice outlines that it is difficult to teach with a mask on, so the mask will be worn by staff where possible. Under the guidelines, it is not necessary for Primary School aged children to wear a mask. Staff will start wearing masks from tomorrow, as another precautionary measure to ensure the safety of our school community. Please contact me if you have any questions. Ross Davis

15.01.2022 We look forward to welcoming everyone back to school tomorrow. All of the COVID-19 safety measures are still in place, as well as from tomorrow, every child being temperature checked. When your child comes to school, they need to go straight to the office. Please contact the School if you have any questions. It will be great to see everyone.

14.01.2022 One more sleep! We can’t wait to see everyone at school tomorrow. Don’t forget your water bottle and hat to start term 4. See you in the morning.

12.01.2022 We know everyone is working hard during remote learning. Today’s Monday Funday organised by Junior School Council provided some relief with some fun activities enjoyed by everyone. Activities included cooking, making pet rocks, a lego building competition, science experiments, creating a spoon character and more!

10.01.2022 The holidays are nearly over and it looks like there is one weekend left of beautiful sunny weather! We are delighted to have all students back at school on Monday 5th October. At this stage all of the current restrictions are still in place- for example, dropping students at the gate and waiting in cars at afternoon pickup. A Compass message has been sent to all families with more detail. Some exciting news is that if current COVID restrictions remain the same, then camps can occur in term 4. The staff have worked hard over the holidays to plan camps for our 3/4s and 5/6s. Again, please see Compass for more information about camps. We look forward to seeing you on Monday and please SMS or email if you have any questions. Ross Davis [email protected] 0403565119

10.01.2022 Good afternoon everyone. I’m sure you have heard the messages from the premier. 07.01.2022 Great news just in!! With Dan Andrews easing restrictions in rural areas, the Education Minister James Merlino made an announcement late last night that all rural schools can return to on site learning from 5th October, not the 12th October as previously stated. That means all Avenel PS students will return to school for the first day of term 4- Monday 5th October. We can't wait to see everyone! Please contact me at school if you have any questions. Ross Davis
