19.01.2022 A message from our Principal. Avoca PS community please read. The catastrophic fire situation is harrowing, unprecedented and the tragedy is enormous. Our hearts are with all the heroes! ... Right now, our local communities are at risk and we must PREPARE, ACT and SURVIVE. Listen to the RFS and take no risks. The current advice warning suggests that our school is within this zone. We are currently advising that we are taking all measurable care to remain in contact and updated by the Department of Education and following the information provided to us directly by the RFS. Our school is vacant and in recess for the holiday period. There are no animals or DET staff onsite. Please email the school directly (if you can) if you have any concerns. Please avoid the area at all cost. Be safe, be strong and alert. Thank you.

19.01.2022 We bid farewell to 2019 as a school, a community and yet we are saddened and deeply shocked by the awful news coming from the fires that burn not far from our site. Prayers and thoughts are with the families, the communities and businesses that are battling the most incomprehensible heat, exhaustion and conditions in these fires. We want you to know that you do not stand alone. Avoca PS is offering their support, from space on our grounds (fenced) if you need to move animals..., or contact the school for pencils, paper or anything that might help your children during this disturbing situation. 18.01.2022 A reminder about the sharing of photographs via social media platforms. Please be mindful of the students, their consent and rights and privacy of those who are in the photographs. Many stage 3 students are uncomfortable with images being taken and we are supporting the e-safety guidelines in 2020 to manage our school social media promotion. Facebook for our school is closing, our website will host all of the information you need with a conscious and respected approach toward privacy for our families and students.

16.01.2022 Dear families, We are thinking of our friends across the state, who are still in bush fire "fight" mode, especially those residents facing further action tonight in Bateman's Bay. Please, with the hot and dry weather conditions and an increase in fire activity across New South Wales, we are constantly being reminded by the Rural Fire Service (RFS) to be vigilant and stay well informed of current fire activity.... Please also be aware of changing air conditions, especially those who suffer from asthma. It would be advisable to pack extra water for our students and be reminded that at APS we will take every precaution to make sure our students are safe. #wellbeingmatters
