24.01.2022 Today is Mercy Day. At Sacred Heart we remember and respect the Sisters of Mercy. Its origin dates back to 24 September 1827, when the House of Mercy on Baggot Street, Dublin was opened by Catherine McAuley as a school for the education of poor women and girls. Sacred Heart Primary School was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1900. The values of the Sisters of Mercy are Mercy, Dignity, Quality, Commitment and Care. These are fully expressed through the lives and work of the... Sisters and through their ministries in our contemporary society. Being educated in the Mercy tradition today, calls us to action in the same manner as it did more than 100 years ago when our school was born. Maintaining our Mercy tradition requires us to think, act and live out the Mercy Values. We give thanks to the Sisters of Mercy who first lit the flame in our school and all the past and present students, families and staff members who have kept it burning brightly throughout the years. Below are the Sisters our School House Teams are named after. See more

01.01.2022 2020 Giving Tree During this Advent Season we are busy getting ready for Advent to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It has been a long tradition that we exchange gifts as a part of our Christmas Tradition. At Sacred Heart we are asking that we give a small gift that could go to the needy. We proudly support the work of the Society of St Vincent de Paul who will distribute these gifts to needy families in our community. Otherwise known as Vinnies, a Catholic organisation working... in our community for the good of our community, Vinnies receive numerous calls for help at this festive time. Our request, for those who can, provide a small gift that has been wrapped and tagged stating whom the gift would be suitable for e.g. 10-year-old boy or girl 5 years. You may want to donate a gift voucher from a local business, e.g. a haircut from the hair dresser, a checkup at the vets for a pet, swim passes for the pool, these can be placed in an envelope. Gifts can be placed under the tree in our foyer in the sleigh and they will be given to Vinnies for distribution. Whilst the gift bearer remains anonymous both the giver and receiver are filled with hope. In Matthew’s Gospel we are reminded: "Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honoured by men. I tell you the truth; they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. See more
