22.01.2022 It is with sombre hearts we at Txoko brewing (formerly Laughin Barrel) announce the temporary closure of our restaurant to the public. This decision was a diffi...cult one to carry out, especially being a new business having invested a lot of time and money into our startup, however, as restaurant owners we understand the severity of what's developing in the world around us and feel we have a duty of care to be part of a solution and not the problem. We will be taking a one week hiatus to set up an online store where we can keep our employees working. Through this store we will be offering healthy and wholesome food for takeaway and delivery to our local community. Our store will also offer our wines and beers both packaged and through growler exchanges. Watch this space for updates on our store and please share this post if you're part of the local community.

20.01.2022 Alex & I open this shop 3 years ago and we never ever closed a single day. We have been welcomed in the Swan Valley like nowhere else and we are glad to be s...urrounded by kind people. Step by step we built this café patisserie. Without our loyal customer we couldnt exist. We have always put this business, this baby our baby in our top priority.. Our staff have been wonderfull for all those years, working on christmas day, new year day, australia day.. Some of them including us are not Australian yet but they really loved this country like if it was our, its our home now. We really want to stay open to keep as long as possible their job until the governemnt tell us to stop. We are taking all the safety measures to keep everyone safe: staffs & costumers. 12.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE In this rapidly changing situation we find ourselves in, we wanted to update you all on what is happening at Whiteman Park. While the park itsel...f is currently still open (with plenty of fresh air and open space to make use of, at a healthy distance) there are a number of attraction closures now in place, until further notice: Bennett Brook Railway train rides Bright Press print shop Handcraft Centre Heritage Tram Rides Mini pool playground (from 25/3/20) Motor Museum of WA Revolutions Transport Museum Tractor Museum of WA Village Art Gallery In addition, all of the Park's tours, including the Whiteman Explore, Lew's Legacy Express and Nocturnal Woylie Walks are now suspended until further notice, along with the weekend shuttle service operated by the Bus Preservation Society. The Village Cafe will only be operating a takeaway service, in line with current requirements. The Visitor Information Centre will be closed from today too. Should you require any information while in the Park, please call us on 9209 6000, or pop in to Whiteman Park Administration (opposite the VIC), remembering to keep your 1.5m distance. The wellbeing of our visitors, volunteers and staff is our top priority. We ask anyone visiting the Park to ensure they comply with current 'social distancing' rules, remembering to keep a healthy space between you and others. Stay safe and healthy folks.

With the current COVID19 policies rapidly changing, including the recent 14 day isolation policy for returning international travellers, we are beginning to see cancelled bookings and our overseas bookings have come to a screeching halt. WE NEED YOUR HELP. Avonlee Cottage has, the past year or two, become very busy and a major source of income for our family. We are still open for bookings and are perfect if:... You need a staycation. Perhaps you're going stir crazy at home and just need a change of scenery. You, or someone you know, is returning from overseas and needs a 14 day place to self-isolate. We can even help arrange your grocery shopping. You, or someone you know, needs to self-quarantine. Again, we can help arrange your shopping. Avonlee Cottage, although on the same 1/2 acre as our own home, is a completely separate dwelling. It contains two bedrooms which comfortably sleep up to four adults (plus an infant), a bathroom with jetted deep bath, separate powder room (with sink), fully equipped kitchen, lounge area with TV/VCR and games, and a beautiful fenced in private garden. The Cottage is immaculately clean (see our reviews on airbnb) as we clean it ourselves, have been hosting for a few years now and because we are very particular about how and what is done.
