22.01.2022 Vivien’s August show & tell consisted of a bag of grey poodle hair & an attempt to felt the poodle hair into a picture! While the dog hair ‘felted ‘ well , the picture was not a total success. I think it’s good to show both successes & failures..... the dog hair feels quite prickly, give me superfine merino any day ! And it smelt like a wet dog ! Ha

05.01.2022 Go to meeting with guest speaker ,Cheryl Crosbie, chatting about the origins of Gotland sheep & how she became involved with breeding & developing Gotland sheep in Australia on her farm Granite Havens. Cheryl began her fibre journey with two gelded llamas.Teaching herself to spin, Cheryl became interested in creating a bespoke fibre and so began by using artificial insemination (AI) to develop the Gotland sheep. Very interesting & informative chat and Cheryl’s dedication & ...passion to ethical practices was evident . Thanks Julie for organising the meeting & guest speaker. I know I’ll be checking out Cheryls website & hopefully a visit to the farm one day ..... http://www.granitehavenllamas.com.au/

03.01.2022 Jane’s journey...... Rolags made with wool soybean fibre ,milk fibre and angelina . I dyed the soybean fibre purple. Spun as a single. ... Woven on four shafts, basic twill and tabby. Commercial wool yarn as warp. Jane says : I’m still learning about even weaving...... I beg to differ, another stunning piece !

02.01.2022 Jane’s stunning shawl made with soy bean fibre and glass beads. This took Jane approx 120 hours to spin and knit this Estonia lace pattern shawl. This is the natural colour of the fibre but it dyes well if you want to dye it. It feels like a mix of silk and cotton.

01.01.2022 Jane’s shawl is merino two ply hand spun. Lovely subtle colours. Socks are hand spun xbred merino dyed black and green.
