25.01.2022 Hello! Hello! Are you there? Come closer, I have trouble seeing sometimes and I would like to take a good look at my new human. Hi, I'm Jordie I came to the shelter as an 8 week old kitten with lots of eye issues I've had a couple of surgeries and my sight is pretty good now. My foster mum likes to call me Nordie Jordie, because I'm an energetic little munchkin. Even though I only have one eye and it has limited vision, I do not let this slow me down. No way! I hav...e lots of energy and I love to play all day. I have some favourite toys that I carry all around the house with me and my foster mum says they are great to help burn up some of my excitement I have lived with lots of other confident cats and dogs in my foster home and I used to love to play rough with them, so if you have a confident fur friend for me at your house, that would be ameowzing!! But I'm not just all zoomy and go go go, I love to snuggle up beside you and sleep while you watch tele, and I'd love to share your bed at night if that's ok with you. 16.01.2022 Boof and Iggy have been calling AWLQ home now for 70 + days, so we decided to give them a break from shelter life and head to the beach with Hound Dog Videography Although we are delighted with their company, we are all waiting for the special day to come where a lovely family comes and sweeps them off their paws! Boof and Iggy have had a bit of a rough time before arriving into the care of AWLQ but we made them both a promise that we would find them a very special h...ome - together, of course. As you can see this duo really come alive when they are out of a shelter environment where there true personalities can shine through! Being an older gentleman means that Boof does come with some old man issues - his kidneys have had some slight changes and does require regular testing and our wonderful vets have removed multiple small tumors from his underbelly, it is likely that these lumps will grow back again, meaning that Boof will need to have them regularly removed. When we promised Boof and Iggy that we would find them their forever home, we meant it AWLQ are happy to waive the adoption fees and we would love to have a chat about Boof's health treatments when you come in to meet them. 08.01.2022 Our community vet clinics have seen an increase in patients suffering from paralysis tick - some with heartbreaking outcomes. Every year the paralysis tick will cause illness in over 100,000 companion animals on the east coast of Australia. Not only is the paralysis tick one of the most common, it’s also one of the most dangerous. Once paralysis occurs the animal is likely to die unless it is treated quickly by a vet. If your pet is showing any signs of tick paralysis, you sh...ould take them to a veterinarian for immediate treatment. It can take 48 hours for the toxin to be removed, full recovery can often take weeks. Paralysis ticks can lead to an animal needing to be ventilated and sadly many victims of these ticks do not recover. To assist with managing v...isitor numbers and social distancing we have implemented a few operational changes These are as follows: OUR NEW ADOPTION PROCESS The Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre will only be open for cat and pocket pet adoptions - NO DOGS will be available at this centre. Dogs will be available for adoption from the Beenleigh Animal Rehoming Centre - there will some cats available at this centre. Our adoption application process will return to face-to-face from Tuesday, online applications will end from today (6/11). OUR NEW OPENING HOURS The Beenleigh Animal Rehoming Centre will be open Monday to Sunday between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. The Gold Coast Animal Rehoming Centre will be open Tuesday to Saturday between 12:00 pm and 5:00 pm and will be CLOSED on Sunday and Monday. 06.01.2022 Who doesn't love Snacks, right?! I'm Snacks and I'm the type you can indulge in without feeling guilty about it! I guess you could say I'm more of a sweet snack, because everyone who meets me seems to melt! The staff here say I really do tick all of the boxes - I'm super easy on the eyes, I'm the perfect little pocket staffy size, and I'm very well mannered! I walk great on the leash, I'm super attentive to my humans and will be sure to follow their lead, and I'm ...super dog social. It would be great to have another pooch at home to play with during the day and be best mates with My breed means all things fun and exciting, and if you've been lucky enough to experience my breed, then you know what I mean! I've been in a loving foster home while I waited for my big boy operation for my leg amputation, and while out on foster I have made lots of new friends, including other dogs and cats! I am an all round kind of nice... guy As you can see my transition to three legs hasn't slowed me down at all! I am looking for a home with experience with amputee patients like me where there are suitable living arrangements for ease of access for me too.
