24.01.2022 Important reading for all pilots
22.01.2022 Stick n Rudder flying school is located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, just west of Woodford... and was created by Doug Field, who put his passion into prac...tice after falling in love with flying as a child This Saturday at 5.30pm on Channel 7 Queensland #VisitSunshineCoast #QueenslandWeekender
20.01.2022 A humbling application from Ryan Campbell and Lachie Smart for #TeamAustralia. In 2013 Ryan circumnavigated the globe in a Cirrhus SR22 after raising more than ...a quarter of a million dollars and was, as such, the youngest pilot and first teenager in history to fly a fixed winged aircraft solo around the world. Inspired by his achievement, Lachie, followed up with his own solo circumnavigation at age 18. Both instrument rated commercial pilots and convinced The Sky is NOT the Limit, as professional speakers they also try to inspire the young about the Magic of Aviation. It wasnt all easy though, as a horrific plane-crash saw Ryan paraplegic with more than 20 months rehab to be able to walk again. Walking was only a stepping-stone to flying again and he has now regained a commercial medical and soloed in a helicopter. With a combined 50.000 NM, both youngsters want to inspire the next generation and run in the next Ushuaia2USA #VintageAirRally in a modified Waco. Like, comment and share to support their application and help us choosing the participants and teams for the next rally! See more
18.01.2022 New plates on their way for Back2 Basics (828)
16.01.2022 Congrats Matt & team. Perfection in the basics.
14.01.2022 Help save this iconic airfield in SE Qld. Please.
13.01.2022 The lessons I learned from this incident were: never allow passengers to distract you, especially over something minor. Utilise ATC as a resource to help you, ...they are employed to help pilots, so dont be afraid of using them. Most importantly, dont get lured into the big sky trap. 13.01.2022 Air to air photo shoot this morning. The Cessna 340 looks fantastic in the air.
12.01.2022 Basic Met made simple...
11.01.2022 Every pilot must know this
09.01.2022 As I work in the industry and with pilots I recall John Boyds words. Aviation like many pursuits is not about glory or rank but how much we can shape and influence those around us by what we do. I recommend the biography. Its a great read.
09.01.2022 Is it any wander many are now trying to untangle this dependency and get back to basics
07.01.2022 The age old argument is worth looking at again
07.01.2022 Building experience at the base level in flying is an investment in everyones future. We need to make flying romantic again and the way to do that is make it fun. Light sport aviation is both fun and affordable.

03.01.2022 Episode 51 is the one that Ive been dying to do now for months. Imagine an engineless airplane reaching the edge of space. Crazy? Impossible? In this episode o...f the Cloudbase Mayhem Kevin Brooker, a passionate sailplane pilot takes us through the long history of sailplanes to the stuff that is at the far edge of what the imagination can even grasp. Just recently the altitude record was broken (52,000 feet!)- without an engine flying in wave in the Andes. But thats just the beginning. The The Perlan Project is shooting for 90,000 feet- their mission is to explore the science of giant mountain waves that help create the ozone hole and change global climate models. This will require the engineering of a spacecraft with glider wings that can fly in less than 3% of normal air density and at temperatures of minus 70 degrees C, conditions approximating the surface of Mars. How can paragliders and hang gliders use what the sailplane community is doing to improve our distance? How do they forecast wave, and is it possible for us to tap into this potential? This conversation was one of the most fascinating Ive had on the show. I promise, this stuff will blow your mind. http://www.cloudbasemayhem.com/episode-51-sailplane-radnes/ Mentioned in this episode: Matt Wilkes, Jocky Sanderson, Miguel Gutierrez, Alas Del Hombre Paragliding Pilots, Dick Butler, Will Gadd, Dave Turner, Jim Payne, Bob Harris, Cody Mittanck, Steve Fawcett
02.01.2022 Finally some intelligent reporting on this tragedy
