21.01.2022 We would like to congratulate our two very deserving award recipients Nadia Gianinotti & Darcy Fahey who were presented with their plaques in a celebratory dinner between our final two performances of The Producers. Darcy received the Directors Award, presented by the creative team, for her all-round positive presence, enthusiasm, commitment to the process and support of her cast mates. Nadia received the Presidents Award for her outstanding contribution, above and beyon...d her commitment to playing the role of Ulla, in creating all of our beautiful character imagery for the online marketing of the show. 18.01.2022 Well we may not have made it to the Whitehorse Centre for what was meant to be our Opening Night of Mamma Mia! The Musical last night, however we were a mighty full house of production team, cast, crew, committee, sewing team, set builders & front of house via a Zoom gala extravaganza! Another reminder that Babirra Music Theatres heart beats just as strong in iso as it does in spaces like the rehearsal room, costume store or on stage. 16.01.2022 We are excited to announce auditions for our May/June 2020 production of: MAMMA MIA The ultimate feel-good musical, Mamma Mia is a celebration of love, laughter, family and friendship, not to mention a tribute to the biggest pop band of the 70s, ABBA. Easy to see why it has become one of the most popular musicals of all time, seen by over 60 million people around the world.... Set on a Greek Island, Mamma Mia follows the story of Sophie as she tries to discover the identity of her father by inviting three of her mothers ex-boyfriends to her wedding. There are not many musicals that have such a host of wonderful lead and supporting roles for men and women in their 40s and 50s playing alongside a large group of youthful, energetic performers. For the roles of Donna (Sophies mother), her two best friends and the three potential fathers, we are looking for character actors with strong comedic timing who can belt out a tune and move well. For Sophie, Sky and their friends who make up the ensemble, we want energetic performers who are a mix of strong singer-dancers and dancer-singers. The uniting factor on stage will be the energy, spirit and delight that is magically contained in the music of ABBA, and our objective is to package up that joy and deliver it to the audience. 13.01.2022 We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of 2 musical theatre stalwarts - Keith Stubley and Graeme Burnham. Keith had done just about everything in theatre - actor, singer, director, stage manager, crew member, committee member. Keith was always willing to help out wherever he could contribute, no job was too big or too small. His ever-present smile and sense of humour were with him in any and every situation. So many theatre companies benefited from his presence and in...put. Graeme was an outstanding musician, working with us, and other companies, over many years as a musical director and rehearsal pianist. The combination of his musical talent and his wry sense of humour endeared him to all who had the pleasure of working with him. We extend our deepest sympathies and best wishes to Keith's and Graeme's families and many friends. Both will be sorely missed.

05.01.2022 It is with heavy hearts that we are confirming the suspension of our 2020 season in light of COVID-19 and government restrictions. Our May/June production of "Mamma Mia! The Musical" will now be staged in June 2021, not October 2020 as originally stated in a written announcement made in March. June 2021 performance dates as follows: ... Sat 5th June, 2pm and 8pm Sun 6th June, 8pm Wed 9th June, 8pm Thu 10th June, 8pm Fri 11th June, 8pm Sat 12th June, 2pm and 8pm Sun 13th June, 2pm Our October 2020 production of "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to The Forum" will now be staged in October 2021. Both of these shows will be presented at the Karralyka Centre. We would like to thank the countless people, production teams and cast members who have contributed countless hours of hard work and dedication to our season thus far. Although we are deeply saddened by the postponement of our season, the health and well-being of our community is our absolute first priority. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000-year-old comedies of Roman playwright, Plautus, with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum is a nonstop laughfest in which Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful, but slow-witted, courtesan named Philia for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom.
