20.01.2022 Who would you love to hug right now? The benefit of human touch cannot be underestimated. It stimulates the release of en...dorphins and oxytocin (the feel good hormone). It boosts your immune system and lowers your blood pressure. It helps you feel emotionally connected. Right now isolation is what is required to protect ours and our communities health, however we need to acknowledge that this will be tough and we need to endeavour to stay connected utilising the amazing technology we have available to us. Tag the person you wish most you could give a big hug to right now. #hypnobirthingclasses #antenatalclasses #childbirtheducation #pregnancy #duein2020 #pregnancydiary #instamumsandbubs #instadads #birthsupport #positivebirth #hypnobirthing #informedbirth #birth #birthmatters #birthchoices #positivebirth #naturalbirth #instinctivebirth #prenatal #postnatal #newborn #newmum #postpartum #12weekspregnant #babies #mammaknowsbest #pregnancy #pregnant #firsttimemum #firsttimedad See more

15.01.2022 Question for today: How has being a mother/parent changed, challenged or enhanced your relationship to your body, sexuality and partner?

07.01.2022 Repost thanks to @joyfulbirths... Your baby brings many gifts to facilitate a natural birth, not just the birthing person. Again, I could go... on all day, but here are a few of my favs. Vertex Turn: Somewhere between 32 and 37 weeks of pregnancy (or sometimes not until just before labour and birth) your baby moves into its vertex position. The head is the heaviest part so gravity generally takes care of this. Relaxin: The amazing hormone that allows the birthing body to open also softens the baby’s skeletal system to enable it to bend and move smoothly through the birth path. Fontanels: The head is the largest part of the baby but a newborn has many bones forming it’s skull with a soft membrane connecting them, this connective tissue forms the soft spots or the fontanels of their head. This allows the bones of the skull to shift, overlap and mould the head and change shape as it is born. These plates then settle into place and fuse together gradually over the first 18 months(ish) of your baby’s life. Look at this amazing moulding! The Breast Crawl: Colostrum (your first breastmilk) smells like amniotic fluid which helps baby want to crawl towards the breast and begin to feed. This breast crawl motion and the first breastfeed facilitates the natural closing down of the blood vessels between the uterus and the placenta and a flood of oxytocin assists the release of the placenta. #hypnobirthingclasses #antenatalclasses #childbirtheducation #pregnancy #duein2020 #pregnancydiary #instamumsandbubs #instadads #birthsupport #positivebirth #hypnobirthing #informedbirth #birth #birthmatters #birthchoices #positivebirth #naturalbirth #instinctivebirth #prenatal #postnatal #newborn #newmum #postpartum #12weekspregnant #babies #mammaknowsbest #pregnancy #pregnant #firsttimemum #firsttimedad See more

03.01.2022 The benefits of skin to skin contact for mothers is pretty well accepted, but did you know that partners and babies receive almost the identical benefits as mum...s and babies when enjoying skin to skin contact? Dads, like mums experience an increase of oxytocin levels (natures feel good hormone) when experiencing skin to skin with baby. This increase creates a ‘relaxation and well-being’ response, which can assist dads develop their nurturing and affectionate behaviour toward baby. Helping him to feel more in tune with baby, to become more sensitive and aware of baby’s needs ultimately developing his confidence as a parent. How do you integrate skin to skin contact into your family routine? #instadad #firsttimedads #newdad #newmum #postpartum #postnatal #newborn #babies # duein2020 #birthsupport #bonding #love #firsttimemum #family #pregnancy #pregnant See more

02.01.2022 @leilaelizabethkate Reflects on her and her partners home water birth as the most intense and empowering experience of our lives A waterbirth can be incredibl...y calm and rewarding. Some women report that they feel more in control with less painful contractions, meaning they are less likely to need epidurals for pain management or drugs to speed up their labour. The buoyancy that the water provides can improve blood circulation resulting in better oxygenation of the uterine muscles, less pain for the mother, and more oxygen for the baby. Immersion in water can also help to lower high blood pressure caused by anxiety. @rewildherbirth
