16.01.2022 WHAT IS DORMANT BOTTOM SYNDROME? Being stuck at home can lead to sitting more often and not moving as much as we normally would, this can lead to a condition called "dormant bottom syndrome" While the name may sound funny, dormant bottom syndrome is weakening of the gluteal muscles. The weakening of these muscles can lead to pain in the lower back, hips, knees and even feet as these parts of your body take on more load than they are supposed to.... Even athletes and people who exercise regularly can have dormant butt syndrome. Running typically works the hip flexors, hamstrings, quadriceps and calves more than anything else. Most runners dont do enough strength training let alone work on strengthening the glutes. Long periods of sitting, as well as exercising in ways that do not activate these muscles can lead to this condition, however there are ways to prevent, or fix dormant bottom. To find out more about this condition, this article from Back in Motion Health Group discusses Dormant Bottom, and the ways you can work on strengthening muscles: https://bit.ly/2KGoDzu Call 5367 4130, or book online at https://www.backinmotion.com.au/bacchus-marsh to be assessed by one of our fantastic physios today and work towards strengthening those gluteal muscles!

Not only that, but diabetes can lead to several mental health challenges that we tend to disregard. Physiotherapy is proven and highly effective in treating diabetes. Exercise has a direct effect on diabetes by lowering blood glucose levels and body fat, but also indirectly assists in the management of the complications of dia...betes by improving cardiovascular fitness (reducing heart disease and stroke). 15.01.2022 Like most of us here you may be very excited to finally be heading back to the gym. However be careful when first stating back. Dont think that you will be able to lift the same weights you did prior to the lockdown. Your body has most likely become deconditioned to lifting the heavier weights. Here is some quick advice for you when you restart: Reduce your normal weights by 30% to start Gradually increase the weights by 10% each week... Do shorter sessions to begin with Make sure your form is good. Have a few PT sessions to review your program Make sure you warm up properly before hand and cool down after Do extra stretching sessions If you do get pain and niggles for more than 2 days then call us to see if you need some treatment. Remember, the chances of an injury are the highest when your body is deconditioned. https://www.abc.net.au//physios-warn-gym-goers-to/12339318
