13.01.2022 We are in step 2 of the Victorian roadmap to reopening. There has been an easing of restrictions for allied health and pleasingly more treatment services can now be provided for Podiatry patients in person. The points below provide guidance and touch on scenarios where you can now access face-to-face treatment. If you feel you require an appointment at the practice, please contact my friendly reception staff to briefly describe your problem. I will collaborate with them and ...through my clinical judgment, assess your eligibility for this essential consultation. Take care and please continue to look after the welfare of your family and friends during this difficult time! Paul. https://balaclavapodiatry.com.au/covid-19/

02.01.2022 SPRING THE SEASON FOR INJURY. The weather is warmer, the evenings are lighter and the smell of spring is in the air. In a bid to make up for lost time after winter hibernation, many people go too hard too soon! This ambitious spirit can lead to soft tissue and/or bone stress injuries. Strategies To Prevent Running Injuries:... *Getting Back On Track. For those considering a return to running, I suggest an interval training approach which includes a combination of a run and walk. *Load Management. Increase components of your training program gradually, either via your run-walk ratio, distance, frequency or pace. I commonly see Achilles tendinopathy when people try to rush this process, so refrain from increasing everything all at once! *Weekend Warriors. Start pre-season training with longer distance running to build a good fitness base and perform regular strength workouts as well. Ultimately, you should aim to progress to sprinting, agility and plyometric sessions. *Good Quality Footwear. A supportive running shoe can help to reduce stress and strain to important foot tendons. If these are insufficient in controlling your foot mechanics, then specific strength exercises and flexible orthotics are useful. I can help by prescribing these for you. https://balaclavapodiatry.com.au/orthotics/ *Listen To Your Body. Please don’t ignore your symptoms as small niggles can become chronic! Please read my full article to learn more about common symptoms of tendon and bone injury. https://balaclavapodiatry.com.au/spring-the-season-for-inj/ Happy Exercising Paul
