20.01.2022 From time to time, people tell me, "lighten up, its just a dog," or "thats a lot of money for just a dog." They dont understand the distance traveled, the time spent, or the costs involved for "just a dog." Some of my proudest moments have come about with "just a dog." Many hours have passed and my only company was "just a dog," but I did not once feel slighted. Some of my saddest moments have been brought about by "just a dog," and in those days of darkness, the gentle to...uch of "just a dog" gave me comfort and reason to overcome the day. If you, too, think its "just a dog," then you will probably understand phrases like "just a friend," "just a sunrise," or "just a promise." "Just a dog" brings into my life the very essence of friendship, trust, and pure and unbridled joy. "Just a dog" brings out the compassion and patience that makes me a better person. Because of "just a dog," I will rise early, take long walks and look longingly to the future. So for me and folks like me, its not "just a dog" but an embodiment of all the hopes and dreams of the future, the fond memories of the past, and the pure joy of the moment. I hope that someday they can understand that its not "just a dog," but the thing that gives me humanity and keeps me from being "just a man." So the next time you hear the phrase "just a dog," just smile--because they "just dont understand."

10.01.2022 ---Some dogs dont love being around other dogs and thats ok.--- Likely the most difficult part of my job as a dog trainer is centered around getting some dog ...owners to realize that they dont need to have a "dog-park" dog. Some call with very real, attainable expectations like Hes had some bad experiences around other dogs, but we would like him to be fine if other dogs run up to him when we are hiking off leash. Other well-meaning people want their dog to go to doggy daycare, despite their dogs utter disdain for other dogs. ---Some dogs dont love being around other dogs for long periods of time and thats ok.--- Last week I had a client tell me how incredibly happy she was to learn that its ok for her dog to not want to be a social butterfly around other dogs. Before starting training with me her friends would insist that she bring her dog over for playdates. The first play session was bad, the 2nd resulting in one dog needing stitches and the 3rd was even worse. By session five she said it was like watching a UFC fight. Dont let your well-meaning friends coerce you into doing something you are not comfortable with. ---Taking a dog who does not enjoy other dogs to a BBQ with other dogs, balls, sticks, and people to guard is like taking a friend who just started alcoholics anonymous to a bar for ...wings. --- My career has been built on rehabilitating aggressive dogs, and many of them have been pushed into social interactions that were too overwhelming for them to navigate without the use of their teeth. Its my belief that all dogs should be able to tolerate other dogs when approached by another dog, but expecting every dog to want to play and run with every dog they see is insane. Some dogs are fine to have one or two doggy friends who they are fine with, but dont have much desire for making new friends. I see this all the time with clients dogs. They have doggie friends they grew up with as puppies and they are the best of friends, but they feel intimidated by new dogs. My dogs have helped me rehabilitate close to 1000 aggressive dogs over the years, and yet I wouldnt consider them extremely "dog-social" dogs. They are great around other dogs, but they dont really like playing very often. They have each other, they have me and my wife and daughter, and thats cool with them. At the park, if another dog approaches, they dont seek new friends, they just say hello and keep walking. ---Your dog doesnt need to have as many friends as you do-- Do right by your dog. They dont need to be a "dog-park" dog or a "doggy-daycare" dog. Give them a job to do, keep their minds occupied, and love them. Thats what they need most. 02.01.2022 Hi All As we all know by now we are no longer alowed to hold group classes. So we have desided to offer half hr slots of 1on1 sessions till we can no longer do such or your paid up group classes are used up. 1 half hr session equals a group class session... If there is anybody that would like to take advantage of this offer please let me know so I can make a roster. It will be up to everyone them self to make sure to stay in the car till the previous person has packed up and is in their car in order to not breach the social distancing roules. Following slots are available On Saturday I have available from 12pm through to 4pm each half hr On Sunday I have from 9:30 am till 1pm each half hr. Please, if you are interested contact us with the suitable time you like to attend. In order to give everyone a chance we only take bookings for the weekend ahead from Wednesday onwards. Week by week! When you book please let us know what class you have been in so I can prep. FIRST IN FIRST SERVED Regards Bruno
