25.01.2022 Hot days equal water play....Halos weakness...shes OBSESSED with chasing the hose. Should i have allowed her? Not if i want a calm well behaved pet..im feeding the obsession..so why did I...i couldnt help myself! Shes a low drive dog and i wanted to see if i could get her to act like a high drive dog, fast movements, instant responses etc, plus when she was little she was so slow that i couldnt work out if she was staying because she was told to or because she couldnt be bothered moving so i tempted her with the hose and taught her to stay. Shes a funny one but i got the "leave" and the "stay" i was after.

25.01.2022 Last Wednesday's socialisation day for Franki, big dogs, men, new environments, City Farmers (where he met a small dog and a man) and Pet Barn.... he aced it!! Halo did a good job of controlling her urge to play too (which is huge achievement for her!!)..took careful planning!

23.01.2022 Introducing little Franki, our first official client. He may be teeny tiny but hes full of personality!! We spent 4 hours together, bushwalking, street walking, playing at the park and building his confidence out of the house. He went from barking at everything that moved to watching the cars go by. Welcome to the team little man!!

23.01.2022 Had a breakthrough with Halo last night... its been a challenge to create a love of Kongs in a dog who is not that food motivated or persistent....the following steps were spread over days as i got to know what she needed. Hungry pup....dinner time. Initially... watched and waited...Halo licked ends and gave up easily I helped her by holding Kong on one end to work out food is in there! I experimented with tastiest treats vs easiest to dispense treats...easiest to di...spense won at this stage..kibble mixed with a TINY bit of wet meat for scent I positioned kong standing up so easier to knock over...win! She worked out to use her paw! I helped her see that when she used her paw treats came out (even if she was too gentle to start) ..you can see this at the end of the video. BiNGO! It clicked...she made them come out herself!! Baby steps over a week or so......now to increase the waiting time before helping so she doesnt start to rely on me....but I am hopefull!! See more

22.01.2022 Early morning walk for Harry and Halo to beat the heat..before i could stop him Harry hopped in with Halo and lay down like...can i ride with Halo in her crate?...ill be good!!

22.01.2022 Working on some stays around distractions... little Franki weaving in between the bigger dogs. You all did so well! Such a mix of dog personalities and sizes.

19.01.2022 I think the dogs missed each other over Christmas! Video 1: Socky (black): Hey Harry wanna play? Harry: Yeh ok lets play....actually...i cant be... bothered... Socky: Franki...wanna play? Franki: Yeh sure!...oohh actually amoving leaf...no brain...focus...play....yeeeepee this is fun!! Harry: Actually Socky im keen to play...Sock!! Sockie: Sorry mate, next time.....having too much fun with the Frankster!! Video 2: Halo: Geeze guys why you running around....its like 37 degrees today...sooo much nicer in here...i MAY move to make room...but probably not.

18.01.2022 This is Poli and Peanut who impressed me today with a huge improvement in door manners. They went to their bed, waited on their bed till calm and then greeted me without jumping or getting over excited. A great effort by their owners!! Well done!!

18.01.2022 Balanced Behaviour would like to introduce Halo, our newest addition to the family! We hope to learn from, experience and record as much of her up bringing as possible to be reminded of what it is like to raise a puppy (as well as enjoying the cuteness overload that comes along too!) Enjoy....

17.01.2022 Can anyone see what is wrong with this photo? This is the second time i have done this in a week...going a little crazy!!! Ps I was making my daughter's lunch and my lunch. Hope you are all doing better at this isolation stuff than i am.

17.01.2022 Today i met Koda and now i want a working line shepherd!!! Haha absolutely adore her fast movements, eagerness to learn, drive and energy!! Cant wait to work with her!! Just look at those eyes!!

17.01.2022 Spending 2 days (Friday and today) learning from one of the world's top dog trainers! Today is all about building confidence in dogs and also how to deal with aggression, Friday was on competition obedience. Learning loads and love hearing all the different techniques various dog trainers would use the same situation and why.

16.01.2022 No one would have messed with me today walking these two

15.01.2022 All dogs got their TEES done today!! (Training Exploration, Exercise and Socialisation) Exploration hour today was down at the pines...thankfully I saw the roos before the dogs did! Both dogs worked on "place" with the ball as a distraction, Franki worked on "leave", Harry worked on coming into the heel position and recall, and of course some stays thrown in too for good luck.

14.01.2022 Someone is growing fast!! Sleepy on her mat snuggled up with her new elephant teddy.

13.01.2022 My Wednesday crew the last cpl of weeks.

13.01.2022 Happy Mothers Day!! My kids know me too well!! Mothers Day dog training tip of the day: choose your battles with a new pup and gradually raise the bar. 2 weeks ago these slippers with dangling love hearts would have been too much for Halo, now she understands "no". Consistency, clear boundries and follow through mean i can wear these now with no issues !!

12.01.2022 What a gorgeous day for a walk!! So proud of how far this little man has come in such a short time. We can pass cars, people, dogs even busses and motorbikes with no barking and hes much more relaxed..even sitting and waiting at roads and doors now. Ps..do u like my new shirt??

12.01.2022 Frankis adventures over the last few weeks.... We went on a road trip to my dog whisperer friends house James Fruze - Dog Trainer and socialised him with some new 4 legged friends, a shopping center and into City Farmers, meeting new people, new dogs and new objects.

11.01.2022 Wednesdays are the best days! Teaching place for the first time, recall around distractions, stays at the park (with potentially scary man in the back ground-Franki) and of course exercise, socialisation, exploring new places and fun!!

11.01.2022 Love my Wednesdays...Doggie Dayz...bush walks, calm socialisation, play and obedience training.

11.01.2022 Spent the morning with the gorgeous puppy Meika this morning!! Isnt she adorable..and so clever!!

11.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone!! A huge thanks to all those who have helped get my business started and supported me in 2020. I am excited for 2021 and hope to complete last years resolutions this year!! So stay tuned!!

11.01.2022 I wish i had a before picture of this little man walking on a lead....such a change.. great work guys!!

10.01.2022 Morning adventures before the heat got too bad! Bailey's seatbelt reached over and i turn around to see he's hopped into the booster chair.

10.01.2022 Pack socialisation day was cancelled today so we went on our own little walk. Just myself, Franki and Halo.

09.01.2022 I have been a bit slow on posting videos... from a new pup i introduced Halo to the bath empty with treats, then with toys, then with a bit of water in the base, then with a running tap and water...then washed her feet and legs... as u can see its created the kind of reaction i was after..curiosity and the love of the bath...

09.01.2022 Walking little Franks on a warm summers night along the coast getting him used to the dark ( recently discovered he is scared of whats in the dark) and throwing in some sit stays...its a hard life!

09.01.2022 You either love him or cant stand him id say...there arent too many actors i cant stand but i just dont find Will Farrel funny...then i had a glimmer of hope i might see a new side of him when i saw this video..... do u think my opinion's changed? Merry Christmas everyone!!! PS this is not how to use a clicker

09.01.2022 At Balanced Behaviour we are taking this COVID19 pandemic very seriously. I have taken some time to "PAWS" and put in place some necessary measures to decrease the chances of transmission. At this stage there is limited information on whether dogs can be infected themselves but its looking unlikely. - If I have been in contact with a known or likely infected COVID19 patient I will cancel our appt for 2 weeks. - I will be removing all cancellation fees for the duration of... this pandemic and ask all my clients to inform me or cancel for 2 weeks, if they or anyone they have been in contact with, has arrived recently from overseas or NSW, become sick recently or have been in contact with someone who is - I will contact each client individually to arrange the best scenario for them. - I will avoid entering houses and will clean my hands prior to and after contact with a dog. -I will try and maintain a safe distance from each client - Please inform me if u live with or frequently visit a high risk person so we take extra precautions As the Governments recomendations change i too will contact clients and make necessary arrangements. Take care everyone!

08.01.2022 When your morning walk n train turns into a walk n drench. Gotta love November weather! (Photo of Koda before we got hit!)

08.01.2022 Franki finds the the biggest ball in the store!!

07.01.2022 Introducing little Harry...6months old and such a gentle soul..in his favourite position "sit" (working on that). What a cutie!!

07.01.2022 To all the men, women, dogs and horses.. we are forever grateful (best i could do before she ate the poppies).

07.01.2022 Today I got to spend some time with Bobby.... Baileys brother from another mother. We practiced some basic behaviours and went for a walk together. Look at that face!

07.01.2022 Working on our stays around other dogs. Not bad for the first day...Halo is a bit distracted but did well. Tamu was a little star surprising her Dad with some beautiful work!

04.01.2022 Its important to not assume that dogs understand english without teaching them what your words mean, however it is equally if not more important to try and learn and understand the language of the dog. This is a quick video of me teaching Halo what "on your mat" means...it is not teaching her how to relax and stay on the mat..that is a different exercise. :) She started to predict me throwing the food so i mixed the last one up and got her to lie down.

04.01.2022 For those who aren't already aware, my old girl passed away on Sunday. I am so thankful for all she taught me and for all my clients dogs who are keeping me going. This is little Milo..my neighbours new pup. Luckily i can get kisses when ever i like. How cute is he!!!

03.01.2022 Merry Christmas everyone...! Hope you are a bit happier about Christmas than Halo was about having a selfie with me and wearing a head band haha.

03.01.2022 Better late than never... today we introduced some newbies to the pack! Welcome Coco, Bella and Benji!!

03.01.2022 Little Fizz and Audrey's great work in 1 lesson... Fizz wasnt too bad to start with but was pulling in front and moving all over the path (before video in comments). She quickly understood what we wanted with a couple of well timed corrections and encouragement. Well done!!

02.01.2022 A couple of small videos of what i teach in the early days....please excuse Home and Away in the background talk about badly timed filming! In this clip shes 9 weeks old. Im using "yes" to mark the behaviour of waiting and it is also releasing her to the food. I didnt say "yes" for sit because she knows it really well now. Ideally i will have a release word..usually i say "ok" or "go get it" but forgot in this video.
