Con...tact your local MP's and tell them about your passion, your traditions, and your love for the land. We know why hunting is so important to us. It's time to tell THEM. 12.01.2022 United call for common sense approach to resuming hunting and shooting in Victoria Victoria’s major shooting and hunting organisations are calling on the State ...Government to return access to hunting and shooting activities as soon as the easing of restrictions allows. We recognise the difficult decisions that government needs to make concerning COVID-19 restrictions. Still, the fact is that shooting activities and hunting are inherently low-risk activities for the transmission of COVID-19. Range shooting activities are mainly conducted outdoors, and participants can maintain appropriate social distancing at range facilities. Hunting is carried out individually or in small discrete groups in uninhabited public land or on private property. The very nature of hunting provides enormous spatial separation of participants. We were all pleased to see the unwarranted restrictions on the sale of firearms and ammunition under the last year's lockdown repealed and hunting recognised as a permitted exercise activity under the current restrictions. Unfortunately, the reality for most is that hunting opportunities are not available within 5km of their homes. The organisations call on the government to facilitate the ability of Victorians to resume their active participation in hunting and shooting activities as soon as possible.

06.01.2022 FGA History - The picture below is of Jack Ludbrook from an article in the Ballarat Courier dated November 1982. Jack was the winner of the veteran category of ...the 1982 FGA National Carnival. Jack had been shooting for 57 years and said that his victory at the Nationals was one of his proudest moments and best efforts. Jack said he was taught to shoot by his father at the age of 12 and had been as far abroad as Mexico to compete in the world championships in 1980. Jack passed away on the 6th of March 2010 aged 97 years old. In a tribute to Jack, Graeme Ludbrook said that: Jack was a brilliant field shooter on duck, quail, snipe and rabbits and always had a Labrador by his side. He enjoyed his shooting and fishing trips up to the Murray and Darling Rivers with his mates. He also enjoyed a beer (or two, three) Over your head Jack. Dead on the first barrel. Read more about Jack in edition 23 of the FGA magazine. See more
