23.01.2022 This morning, this little girl was baptised by full immersion on the other side of the world, in a little fellowship of ours in Athens, Georgia. In her Mum's words... (long post but worth the read) Today Irie experienced an actual, real life miracle. While our family was praying together earlier today, she began speaking fluently in an unknown language. The Bible refers to this as speaking in tongues and explains that it is a prayer language that we do not understand but whe...n we use it, we have a direct line of communication to the Creator of the heavens and the earth that we can not corrupt. It is miraculous and it is the proof that someone has received God’s Holy Spirit. The Bible says that God will give it to anyone who asks for it with an open mind to receive it. It happened in the book of Acts 2,000 years ago when the first church began and it happened to Irie today. It also happened to her dad and I almost 18 years ago and to her brother Sage as well. In all of our cases, the experience was completely life changing. For me personally, not only was it the proof that I needed and asked for that God is real and not just stories my grandmother told me, but I was also in that same moment miraculously healed of severe debilitating depression and mental illness. 18 years later, it remains the single most important and profound moment of my life and the driving force of who I am and everything I do. I am beyond elated that my precious girl has now had this same confirmation that God is real and the Bible is true for herself. And Irie is - in her words - about to explode from happiness. Tomorrow Irie will be getting baptized. Normally we would invite our friends and loved ones to come and be a part of this happy occasion but in light of the times, it will just be our pastor and our family... What a story! Irie has now been baptised just as the Lord commanded in Mark 16 and John 3.
