23.01.2022 The Balmoral Elite Team are seeking EOI for 2021 season. The team's primary aim is to further club riders' development and to gain team racing experience thereb...y helping them with progression onto national and international level teams and competition. Email [email protected] to obtain an information pack about the team, eligibility, commitment etc and an EOI form. EOI must be submitted before 1st October 2019 and successful applicants will be notified on the 12th October. Please note that all interested riders must submit an EOI even if they are on the 2020 team roster.

21.01.2022 With recent positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in SEQ, we want to reiterate the requirement for riders to comply with CovidSafe plans. 21.01.2022 There have been a few recent comments to our group page about the shared use at Murarrie Recreation Ground and incidents of conflict. Balmoral CC is aware of three potential initiatives at Muzz to help minimise future conflict between the various users of this fantastic facility: - 1. Brisbane City Council has approved and funded a project to improve and reinstate the signage. This project involves additional and reinstated symbols on the criterium track, additional track... directional symbols to clarify direction of movement for both pedestrians/cyclists and additional signs similar to the existing signs explaining the direction of movement for foot and wheeled traffic. - 2. Brisbane City Council is progressing the geotechnical and design work to implement the "Revised Murarrie Recreation Reserve draft Sport and Rec Precinct Concept Plan" that we advocated for here during 2019 . This is a major redevelopment. The Club advocated strongly for the Council to ensure separation between the different uses. We understand this is be an accepted key part of the strategy. This project is some time off commencing and we continue to engage with the BCC to ensure we get a great outcome for the community. - 3. Balmoral has lodged a grant application to the Queensland Gov for funding for minor remedial works to the crit track surface. The BCC has approved this work if we obtain funding. We expect advice about this shortly, but it is delaying the track marking project for the moment. We note that there are only two public facilities in Brisbane dedicated to wheeled sports. The value of Muzz to the cycling community is immense. We urge all Muzz users to continue to show courtesy, consideration and restraint to other users. We'd also encourage everyone to lobby the BCC to progress the strategic project as soon as practical. Balmoral Management Committee.

21.01.2022 The Brisbane Blast is coming to the City on Sunday 15 November, which features a timed 10.5km Cycle Sprint over the Story Bridge. Running in an individual time trial format, the course starts on the Kangaroo Point Cliffs, crosses the Story Bridge and finishes at the Botanic Gardens. There is also a Sprint and Enticer Duathlon (cycle/run) if someone is looking to try something a little different. The event is run in support of organ transplant research at the Prince Charles ...Hospital, with all ages and abilities welcome. 20.01.2022 Racing Notice: New Trial Race Schedule! For the remainder of 2020 we are trialing a change in the standard race schedule. B & C grades will exchange time slots to see if it simplifies passing. All other grades unchanged. A Grade: start 6:45am : rego from 6:20 Masters: start 7:45am : rego from 7:00 C Grade: start 7:45am : rego from 7:00... B Grade: start 8:30am : rego from 8:00 D Grade: start 8:30am : rego from 8:00 We’ll then re-assess prior to commencing racing in 2021. 19.01.2022 It looks like everyone made the decision about racing tomorrow for us! With the adverse weather forecast, low numbers registered, extra resources required to run during Covid19 times and the way the Muzz track is responding to rain at the moment, we've decided to postpone tomorrow's racing until next week. NO RACING or Junior Development at MUZZ July 25.... If you have already entered your entry will carry forward to next week. If you can't make August 1, then we'll shortly reopen entries and you can self-scratch for a full refund. Email [email protected] if you require assistance. 12.01.2022 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT RE: Metros Road Race at Kalbar, Sunday 23 August. The Qld Government announced new COVID-19 restrictions today. The Directions, and messaging from the Department of Sport & Recreation are clear that Community Sport can continue, provided events adhere to their approved COVID Safe plans. Balmoral Cycling Club, under the auspices of Cycling Queensland, have an approved COVID Safe plan in place and has been working effectively for our racing during the COV...ID response. We are pleased to advise that the Metros Road Race at Kalbar will proceed tomorrow as planned. Balmoral have consulted with Cycling Queensland, Queensland Police, Queensland Heath and our stakeholders from the local Kalbar community who are supportive of the event. The road race is very conducive to a get in, race, get out model, with road races spread throughout the day, few spectators and social distancing outdoors. It is critical that everyone in attendance adheres to our plan and maintains social distancing. We remind everyone to please only attend if you are completely well, have no symptoms whatsoever and are not awaiting a test result, or subject to a public health directive or contact tracing. Any rider who withdraws from the race tomorrow due to illness or a public health directive will receive a full refund.
