12.01.2022 Introducing new General Manager Bama Services, Cade Dawkins Q:You have moved from Western Australia, what enticed you? I like what Bama and Cape York Partnership stands for and the great work it does to build people and their futures through sustainable employment, skills development, training and the attainment of qualifications.... Q:You have a lot of experience in engineering business and large project management, tell us more: I’ve worked for the past 20 years in senior management roles with very successful organisations that work across the infrastructure, buildings and resources segments. My experience covers the full asset life-cycle, including: (design, construction, project management, operations, maintenance facilities and asset management). I have also worked as client, contractor and consultant which enables me to proactively evaluate options, assess risks and identify and implement the right solutions at the right time to optimise value, capitalise on opportunities and achieve objectives and targets. My focus will be on cementing robust foundations into Bama Services to enable a stable platform for growth, sustainability and profitability. A strong business means more jobs and career opportunities for First Nations men and women of Cape York. Q:What ‘s your goal for first 12 months? In my first year I want to lead the Bama team to have a positive, performance focussed culture where we all work together in an aligned and collaborative way to achieve our business and financial goals and objectives. We need to develop new opportunities and deliver our work really well for our clients across all operating divisions to ensure we can continue to provide employment, training and skills development opportunities as well as career paths for our great people.

10.01.2022 THROWBACK THURSDAY Seems like only yesterday that Bama finished this Tolga hydromulching job for this Tolga sub-division. What’s Hydromulching? Well we mix seed, fertiliser, mulch (the green stuff) and water in a big tank and spray it using a fire hose contraption on requested areas. The mulch helps the seed stick to the ground and grow. Most of the time it is used to seed large areas like sides of roads to stop erosion as once the seed grows the roots stop the all the dirt from being washed away in rain.
