08.01.2022 As we wake to another day of smoke filled skies I just want to acknowledge all the guys and girls who give up their RDOs, their down time, their days with famil...y to be on the front line. When the pagers go off, without hesitation they run from the safety of their homes toward the danger, to save properties, homes and lives of complete strangers. Last night 100s worked tirelessy through the night fighting the 30+ fires currently burning in Qld, more joined them with each pager alarm. This morning stations are being manned as the weather conditions worsen. This is going to be a long and gruelling fire season, and they will be there through it all. To anyone wanting a way to help but not knowing how, or what they could possibly do.....get yourself down to your local station! These amazing men and women are everyday people. They have families in your communities. Their kids go to the same school as your kids..... you might not be able to jump on a truck and fight alongside them, but these people will need to eat at some point, they will need to rest but wont as their trucks will need maintenance and restocking, their stations will need to be cleaned, fridges refilled and they will be exhausted and missing their families.....they need your support to do what they do.
