25.01.2022 This Wednesday is Early Childhood Educators Day. We are celebrating this special day showing our appreciation to this wonderful team with a lunch in the staff room and personalised gifts. We would love it if you could fill their appreciation cups with personal messages. And for the team we have a wonderful poster in reception for you to write on.

25.01.2022 Smooch had a wonderful time on their excursion to the park today. What lovely QLD weather we are having so we can go and enjoy some time in nature. We are looking forward to many more of these experiences both this year and next.

24.01.2022 We received our new sand on the weekend and we wanted to share the benefits of sand pit play. Sand play promotes physical development. Large muscle skills develop as children dig, pour, sift, scoop, and clean up spills with brush and dustpan. Eye-hand coordination and small muscle control improve as children learn to manipulate sand accessories. Sand play also promotes social skills.

23.01.2022 As we head into summer I wanted to remind parents that we have our sunscreen station in the foyer for you to apply sunscreen to your children before you start for the day. We then reapply every 2 hours to ensure we are all protected from the UV. Today the UV index is rising so please ensure you are taking this measure to support our team. https://www.myuv.com.au/?location=caloundra-qld-forecast

23.01.2022 Emotion regulation (ER) refers to the processes that influence which emotions we have, when we have them, and how we experience and express them (Gross, 1998). As educators we help children to understand their emotions and how to express them. Sarah and her team in the Ember studio focused on the Sad emotion this week, what made them sad and how to express it in a safe way.

22.01.2022 We have our poster for our team messages, cups ready for filling with your fabulous messages and our thank you certificates signed and ready to be presented. Tomorrow we will have personalised gifts and a progressive lunch in the staff room for this fabulous team who go above and beyond daily to ensure we offer the very best of education and care.

19.01.2022 It's Spring!!! We have started our sustainability Program by nurturing our Vegie and herb garden. The beds have been prepared and this week it was time to start planting. We used the worms from our composting station and the worm Juice from our worm farm to ensure the best start for our seeds and seedlings. There is so much to be learnt from the garden.

15.01.2022 In the kindy studios this week we are participating in book week. To kick start our literacy adventures the kindy children personalised their own library bags using a variety of art mediums. The kindy children will be using their library bags to borrow books from our centre library. We are so excited about this new endeavour that reinforces a love of reading and the importance of early literacy development. This coincides with our literacy program that we will be continuing next term. Book week allows the kindy children the opportunity to develop and expand ways to use language as they explore literacy in personally meaningful ways.

15.01.2022 So does messy play really benefit a child? Yes! Messy play is extremely important for a child’s development. It provides children with an exciting tactile and sensory experience that inspires their curiosity, allows them to explore the world around them and enhances their learning, language and creativity. Children learn through experimentation and discovery and messy play encourages children to explore new textures and manipulate different materials through touch. Not only does messy play enhance a child’s cognitive development and learning, but it also improves a child’s physical development as well!
