19.01.2022 Now in its fifth year, the Your Health Link Photographic Competition is open to students from every primary and high school across Australia and will launch on 1 December 2020 with the theme: ‘We’re all in this together - keeping safe and healthy during the pandemic’ This year’s theme provides an opportunity for students to learn about health guidelines during the pandemic via the competition website: https://www.yourhealthlinkphotocomp.com.au/ - wearing masks, washing hands, social distancing, staying home when feeling ill and how these guidelines prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Competition will enable students to artistically express their knowledge and weave the principles of keeping safe and healthy during a pandemic into everyday life.

18.01.2022 As today is the last day of school for students, we would like to take this opportunity to wish our School Community a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please enjoy the Christmas break and ensure you take the time to rest and recharge over the holiday period. Years 7, 11 and 12 students return on Friday 29 January 2021 and Years 8, 9 and 10 students return on Monday 1 February 2021. We look forward to seeing you all in 2021.

18.01.2022 Year 12 students will now have their COVID-19 test result fast tracked through pathology. They simply need to advise the nurse or doctor doing the test they are HSC students. Results will be fast tracked to reduce disruption to their studies and exams. We also want to reduce potential anxiety around getting tested and ensure students self-isolate at home until results are known. This will help protect the whole community. It is important that all Year 12 students: Stay 1.5m... apart where possible Wear a mask if physical distancing isn’t possible Get tested asap if they have even the mildest of symptoms Tell the clinician doing the test they are a Year 12 student and to mark the referral ‘Urgent - HSC student’ Stay home and self-isolate until results are known Receive a negative test result before returning to school; showing the school a screenshot of an SMS result is sufficient Call the contact number provided by the clinic if results are not received within 36 hours As social young adults, senior students may be at greater risk of COVID-19 than the younger children at school. They’re also more likely to be out and about in situations which could put them at risk of COVID-19 if they don’t stay vigilant. Find the nearest testing clinic at : www.nsw.gov.au/c/how-to-protect-yourself-and-others/clinics

01.01.2022 Wednesday 25th November Uncle John Fonmosa and Mr Arthur Akehurst visited our school to enhance our learning in Technology Mandatory Food & Agriculture Unit and Year 12 Aboriginal Studies classes. Uncle John consolidated our learning about traditional uses for materials and honey produced by Native Stingless Bees including the use of wax to patch holes in coolamon, which are small containers to carry items or water and to make mouth pieces for Yidaki (didgeridoo). He reinforc...ed our learning about how prized the honey was for eating, trade and medical purposes. Mr Aitchison opened the school’s hive and was able to support our learning about emerging agricultural demand for Native Stingless Bees particularly in the pollination of Macadamia crops. Once Arthur opened our hive and it was determined it needed a little more time to strengthen before splitting. As a thank you Year 12 Retail Studies students, Lydia Robb and Tanisha Hughes who also study Aboriginal Studies presented both gentlemen with dried Lemon Myrtle powder. They have milled the powder themselves from a tree in our school’s Indigenous garden. We would like to again thank Uncle John and Arthur for joining us and helping us to facilitate our learning across these curriculums. See more
