23.01.2022 Looking for a new furry friend? Why not pop down to Petbarn in Warners Bay and have a look at some of the dogs available from Dog Rescue Newcastle, and say hello to the Bara volunteers this weekend! Dog Rescue Newcastle is a local group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue of abandoned, neglected or abused animals. They rescue dogs and cats from death row at local pounds and put them into loving foster homes until a permanent home becomes available! There are a heap of ways to get involved and help such an amazing organisation! Whether you are able to transport dogs, build dog kennels, make dog coats or blankets, help with fundraising BBQ's, donate goods, or even donate money, every bit counts, so make sure you contact the lovely team at Dog Rescue Newcastle if you're interested!
20.01.2022 Our 2020 RM’s!! Can’t wait to see what they have planned for this year!!
19.01.2022 Recently some of our residents volunteered for Dog Rescue Newcastle, cooking a barbecue to raise money for fostered dogs who need a permanent home. After a jam-packed year, it was fun to unwind with some adorable dogs and continue our college charity work. We look forward to working more with DRN next year after the Christmas break. Wishing a Merry Christmas to all our residents; past, present and future!
18.01.2022 Today Bara hosted a bake sale in support of the Cancer Council’s Daffodil Day, with all donations supporting research and the fight for a cancer free future. Thankyou to everyone who assisted either with selling or baking or a general helping hand, with Bara raising $366 for such a worthy cause! Meanwhile, we opened our doors for UON’s open day, showcasing Bara to a host of families and prospective new residents. We hope that the day was informative and we’ll see some of you as brand new mighty eagles in 2019!

15.01.2022 Tonight, Barahineban came away with the wins in the Community Shield and the highly coveted Residence of the Year! Returning back to our roots, Bara have received this award 3 times in 5 years. We are incredibly proud of our residents and the hard work they have put in during 2017. After returning this award to Bara after consecutive wins in 2013 and 2014, Bara look forward to continuing our tireless efforts in 2018 and bringing it home again. Additionally, Bara has retained the Community Shield for our unparalleled charitable efforts, led by our fearless Charity Officer Tahlia Louise Rakete. Once again, we are unmistakably proud of all Bara residents and look forward to keeping our efforts with us in 2018.
14.01.2022 Over the start of the semester Bara has been focussing a lot on charity work. We’ve participated in World’s Greatest Shave and Clean Up Australia Day, donated blood, and raised money for Dog Rescue Newcastle and Night Angel, with plenty of charity events to come through the year!
13.01.2022 Thank you to everyone that has liked this page so far. We are nearly at 100 likes already! For anyone that may be confused this page is not the "Official" Barahineban page. This page is run by the Student Leaders of the Barahineban Residential Association and is purely used to spread the wonderful events and work that the Barahineban Residents do throughout the year, and to create a better understanding to the wider community about what it means to be a resident at our beautiful home. If you would like any official correspondence please contact UoN Student Living at the University of Newcastle.
