22.01.2022 An update from Barambah Farms It has certainly been a hectic time for our farming teams, and for Ian. Managing properties from the East Coast of NSW to the Border Rivers Region of QLD/NSW has been challenging. Ian oversees 13,805 acres in total, which is 5,587 hectares. This includes our grain growing place, near Toobeah. Barambah Farms is broadacre, in order to support the 900 approx. cows we have across the three organic dairy herds. ... Being an organic grass-fed operation requires a substantial amount of broadacre, and high quality country, and we also have to operate in tick free areas. Cattle ticks are prevalent along most of the QLD coast, in Northern NSW, and throughout inland regions. Farming organically is certainly a challenge, as we can not routinely spray our cows, nor would we want to. We can all taste the quality of the organic grass fed milk, it is nutty and herbaceous. Thank you to the three Barambah Farming Teams, you are exceptional, every day!

21.01.2022 An update from Ian, as to what is happening across Barambah Farms. It has been another huge operational week, out in the Border Rivers Region of QLD/NSW. Ian is super excited that his closely monitored 300acre triticale crop, is almost ready for harvesting for silage. And, that his 2,500 acres of wheat planted, may get some much needed rain over the next few days. At Barambah HQ, we all enjoy Ians updates. He has taken a picture of his much loved Landcruiser amongst the tri...ticale, to show some scale and perspective, of how well his crop has grown. Ian says that the harvest date of triticale for silage is very important. As plants develop, beyond the boot stage and into early grainfill, the protein and energy levels drop, while the fibre level increases rapidly. Which helps us understand Ians close monitoring. 20.01.2022 The Science behind lactose intolerance, and Barambah Organics award winning lactose free dairy offerings. In the global population, the incidence of lactose intolerance is about 70%, according to University of Queensland Emeritus Professor Hilton Deeth. The percentage varies among populations, close to 100% for Asians, 50-80% for Africans and Latinos, and 15- 25% for Europeans. Prof Deeth reports that most babies have enough lactase to digest about one litre of milk. In man...y populations, lactase levels decline after weaning. There can also be a temporary loss of lactase caused by damage to the gut wall by diseases such as gastroenteritis. The symptoms of lactose intolerance includes flatulence, diarrhoea, bloating and abdominal pain, caused by fermentation of lactose in the gut. Lactose intolerance is caused by the absence, or low level of the enzyme lactase, which breaks down lactose into glucose and galactose. 19.01.2022 Barambah Organics has an iconic 1L glass bottle, that is reusable and you can feel the quality in your hands. We have purchased 250,000 1L glass bottles since October 2018. What we have noticed during COVID, is that the return rates are low to stores, and we completely understand. Sometimes our household has a large collection too! Customers are wanting to reuse glass and be part of a Goodwill Project, but during a pandemic it is a trick. This is why we at Barambah Organics want to offer consumers a 750ml glass bottle for our champion status milk. 15.01.2022 With the air starting to chill a little, try this autumn favourite recipe. It is a dairy rich, and pasture fed egg, custard. Dairy fat is so nutritious and provides vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, lecithin, iodine, selenium and beneficial short-chain and medium-chain fatty acids.... Egg yolks are rich in choline, cholesterol & other brain nourishing substances. Some associate cholesterol as something bad, but it is actually vital for the insulation of nerves in the brain & the entire nervous system. Recipe: 1 cup Barambah organic whole milk 1 cup Barambah organic cream 6 pasture-fed egg yolks (Why pastured eggs? Hens raised on flax meal, fish meal, or insects will contain higher levels of DHA). 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (real stuff) 2 medjool dates or a tablespoon of coconut sugar 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon Directions: Preheat your oven to 150 degrees. Mix all ingredients really well in a blender or food processor. Pour mixture into buttered ramekin dishes. Fill a Pyrex dish with about a half an inch of water. Place ramekin dishes in Pyrex dish. Cook for about 1 hour. Serve warm or cooled.

Ian has 350 acres of triticale and vetch grass for his cows to luxuriate amongst. This was grown without any synthetic fertiliser or chemical, just following organic farming principles. As a Rural Scientist, Ian is all about creating layers of organic matter. He describes organic farming like making a mattress, putting down layers of good foundation, so that y...ou have extra spring. 06.01.2022 Have you ever thought of making your own pure butter? Follow this super easy recipe: Pour one 200ml pot of Barambah Organics Pure Cream into a food processor (or you can use a stick blender or whisk). Process for a minute or 2, or until the butter (now looks yellow in colour) and buttermilk separates.... Strain off the liquid using a piece of muslin, or cotton cloth, lining a sieve. Once most of the buttermilk has strained, wrap the muslin around the ball of butter and give it one last squeeze to remove any traces of liquid. Season to taste with salt, if you like. Press into a ramekin or roll up into a log using baking paper and twisting the ends. 01.01.2022 How good is strawberry season, and the promise of Spring? Barambah Organics loves that SE QLD has a public holiday each year, to celebrate the EKAA. This is the Exhibition, when traditionally the country people come to town, to showcase their wares. In keeping with the spirit of the Ekka, we thought we would highlight one of our star products, our Real Strawberry Yoghurt. It is certified organic, and lactose free, a long time crowd pleaser.... Not all dairy is created equally, clean and green like Barambah Organics!
