24.01.2022 Chasing Dreams. With our final event for 2020 inching closer on New Year’s Eve we look forward to raising our glasses and saying Goodbye to 2020! Looking back on the journey Barfly has taken me on over the past 10 years, 2020 gave me the opportunity I needed to Stop, Rest, Reflect and Celebrate the wins no matter how small and most importantly Appreciate all the many many failures a.k.a lessons along the way.... On this particular night back in late 2019 Barfly collaborated with @footlocker_au for their flagship store launch event at @qvmelbourne We also launched our Piano Bar range which set the tone for a true pop up bar with style! Each time I read this quote by the Legendary Michael Jordan I always feel encouraged and inspired to keep chasing my dreams. I hope you are too! I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. 15.01.2022 When a customer from all the way in Los Angeles, California pre booked a surprise birthday event with us for their good friend this weekend we were super excited to be a part of it! Then lockdown restrictions were reintroduced Victoria wide. I notified the customer that unfortunately we can’t proceed. With the customer still wanting to provide a surprise cocktail gift for his good friend I suggested a gift basket with all the fun less the bartenders. ... Including a new cocktail shaker for good measure and keeping our distance, Barfly dropped this gift basket off, much to the shock excitement of the recipient! 13.01.2022 Although this year’s Formula 1 Grand Prix was cancelled that didn’t stop the many planned events taking place on rooftops surrounding the Albert Park race track this weekend. There were no overhead jets flying by or the sound of roaring Ferraris this time but the sound of cocktail shakers and a good Spotify playlist got this party started! It was great to see our friends @liquidinfusion rocking the neighbouring rooftop bar till late at night to the sound of some banging tunes... These are unprecedented times and the events industry among many others is being turned upside down for now. 10.01.2022 A special thanks to bartenders Andrea, Joe and Daniel for taking great responsibility for events this month as I’ve taken some time out. Along with Barfly starting as a hobby them years ago I also found a passion for acting. 2 years ago we started working on a play in drama class and with many many obstacles along the way we successfully brought it to life on the stage this week at the Alex Theatre in St Kilda. It caught the attention of Melbourne newspaper il Globo and wit...h a packed house on closing night we couldn’t have been more prouder with our collective efforts. It took a great deal of personal self belief to get here. 07.01.2022 One of my favourite drinks to make for our customers and one of my personal favourites has been the Aperol Spritz. Aperol entered the picture in the early 1900s, when Italian brothers Luigi and Silvio Barbieri inherited their father's liquor company in 1912, and after seven years of hard work, experimentation and dedication, debuted the bold, technicolor triple Aperol, inspired by the French term for apéritif: "Apéro." The original recipe, which is still in use today, remains... a secret which includes both bitter and sweet oranges as well as rhubarb. In the immediate post-war period and in later years, Aperol became popular all over Italy, particularly with young adults active in their social life. In Italy, the Aperol spritz is typically a pre-dinner drink sipped with snacks. The classic version is garnished with an orange slice and sometimes garnished with a green olive to make a "Venetian spritz." Making this cocktail always brings me back to my fond time spent in Italy, particularly in beautiful Venice. My early inspiration for Barfly Cocktails was ignited by the bar and nightlife culture there. Watching the Cocktail Bartenders create masterpieces delivered by sharply dressed waiters to the delight of the customers in Piazza di San Marco is an experience that lives with me. The locals there have a tradition of strolling through the city’s walkways. Bumping into acquaintances for a chat and the occasional drink, an ombra de vin, a shadow of wine, as it’s called in the lagoon. Custom contactless delivery snack options also available. 03.01.2022 Double Birthday Celebrations last night with a Sesame Street theme! Cocktail favourite of the night was the Choc Orange Martini... INGREDIENTS 30ml. vodka 30ml. chocolate liqueur 30ml. Triple Sec Garnish - orange slice INSTRUCTIONS Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a chilled martini glass.
