We invite parents and families to join Board Members, educators and staff at the Baringa Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, 24 Nov, 630pm. To help us with catering, please RSVP to [email protected] by 17 Nov.

We'll send out AGM minutes with the 2020 Annual Report and 2021 Quality Improvement Plan. Thanks to Raiders Belconnen for hosting the event and the delicious food! 2021 BARINGA BOARD Jolanta Moore, Chair... John Mercer, Public Officer Hairul Lutfi, Finance Director Jillian Flinders, Board Member Sheena Ireland, Board Member Kate Moskal, Board Member Sally Rice, Board Member Christine White, Board Member Congrats to Melaleuca parent, Jill Flinders and Hakea parent, Kate Moskal for being elected to the Baringa Board. Thank you to Grevillea parent, Vic Kane for being on the Board the last few years. ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Special acknowledgements to our Acacia educator, Marijke who will be retiring at the end of the year, after almost 12 years at Baringa. We also thanked three integral members of our team for their dedication to early childhood education and generously sharing their knowledge and experience with us. Vicki Joyce, Team Leader, Hibiscus Room for 24 years of service Wendy Perry, Educator, Melaleuca Room for 21 years of service Penny Anderson, Centre Cook for 18 years of service MONEY MATTERS Thanks to our Finance Director, Hairul, the Board and Centre Management for their hard work resulting in a positive financial performance after a year of uncertainty. Made possible due to the generosity of families, securing competitive funding and business initiatives. As a not-for-profit, community organisation and charity, we are excited to re-invest these funds in early childhood education for the community. As a reflection of this period and to provide reprieve for families, the Board has undertaken the annual review of fees and have decided to keep fees as they are, and defer adjustments until mid 2021. IN GRATITUDE As we come to the end of the year, we reflect on how much our Baringa children bring us joy. We thank them for allowing us to learn as much from them as they do from us. We are grateful to our amazing families for trusting us and making Baringa their home. We thank the Board for their many long, voluntary hours behind the scenes, supporting us and making sure Baringa’s future is bright. And to our educators and staff your openness, dedication and fun attitude is what makes us the Baringa Family. Thank you for being you.

03.01.2022 Our Banksia children recently completed their PLAY education program! Pretend Play is about using objects, actions or ideas to represent other objects, actions, or ideas. It has been fantastic witnessing the children’s creativity in what they build and in acting out experiences, including playing house or going to a restaurant. Risky Play allows children to encounter risky experiences and conquer fears. The children are continually challenging themselves and their ski...lls by exploring new climbing obstacles and lifting large objects. Mastery Play has children interacting with physical and environmental elements. Through loose parts resources (such as cardboard boxes) they are collaborating with each other and their educators to create and build! Finally, Exploratory Play uses our senses of smell, touch and taste to discover the texture and function of things. The children are engaging so well and loving experimenting! The Banksia Room have now begun our education focus on TRANSPORT ~ please have a chat to the educators and connect with us on Storypark, as we would love your help in continuing conversations at home!
