21.01.2022 End of an era. The committee would like to acknowledge and thank Andy McCabe, our senior coach, for his many years of coaching and work at Mooroolbark Soccer Club as he has decided the time has come to hang up his coaching boots. We wish Andy all the best for his retirement and look forward to continuing to see him around the club. An open letter to Mooroolbark Soccer Club (MSC), I would like to take the opportunity to announce my retirement from the position of first team co...ach at the club; please indulge me by allowing me to say a few words. Firstly thank you to all of the people that I have been involved with at MSC since I became first team coach in June 2011. I have had a truly memorable time at the club working with and meeting some fantastic people too numerous to mention individually. I have also been fortunate, in my time at the club, to be involved with of some brilliant players and indeed personalities, with whom I have shared the highs, lows and everything in-between. I have been pitch side now for the best part of 50 years and some of my favorite moments and memories in my entire career were at this club as a coach so a heartfelt thankyou to ALL of those players, administrators, volunteers and supporters at MSC that made it all possible. In addition, I extend a big thankyou to the coaches that helped and assisted me along the way, our dressing room teams, team managers and physios who I hope had as much fun as I did. I would also like to say a big thankyou to ALL of the people, in both hemispheres; I have met throughout my involvement in this wonderful game. To my long-suffering family putting up with the aforementioned highs and lows and the inevitable mood swings that came with them, the biggest thank you I reserve for you for all of your unwavering love and support. Regards and sincerest thanks! Andy McCabe.

21.01.2022 FV update Football Victoria (FV) would like to provide an update for our football community on the process being undertaken to finalise the 2021 season. Following extensive consultation with Clubs, Councils and football stakeholders in recent weeks, the FV Board of Directors met on Wednesday night to consider all available options to determine a roadmap for 2021 season completion. ... The FV Community and NPL Competitions teams provided an extensive body of work to the Board, which included valuable feedback from stakeholders, flexible season completion options and milestones for each. Intensive deliberation was undertaken by the Board on each scenario, in particular the implications of each on all stakeholders within football. Following this process, and with announcements anticipated from the Victorian Government next week, the Board has determined to hold a final decision on each competition until further visibility is provided on the extension or relaxation of restrictions, and the impact on Return To Play conditions. FV understands the need for our community to have clarity on the 2021 season and the impact on players, Clubs and Associations. It is FV’s absolute priority to provide a transparent update on this as quickly as possible. We sincerely appreciate the patience of our community and will provide clarity across all competitions as our absolute priority following the next lockdown update. Until that time, we urge you to continue to follow all government directives, stay connected to your football family and most importantly, stay safe. Kind Regards FV Community Competitions Team

11.01.2022 Latest update from Football Victoria 2021 has certainly been another year of ups and downs for our state, and for football. We brushed off the cobwebs of 2020 and saw a positive return to football in 2021, enjoying some exhilarating runs of play, giving us all hope that we could complete the football season.... But COVID-19 has proved to be a truly fierce adversary and, sadly, we once again find ourselves in a very challenging landscape for football. FV’s vision is to provide Football For All, Anywhere, Anytime, and alongside the valuable feedback of our stakeholders, this has continued to shape our decision making process. Importantly though, the safety of our community sits above all else, as our most important consideration for all football decisions throughout the pandemic. Our NPL and Competitions teams have worked day and night to produce an extraordinary body of work, planning multiple scenarios for every competition. This work is detailed, well-considered and milestone driven. We would like to express our gratitude to our football community, who have engaged in roundtable discussions, completed surveys and provided direct feedback to the team, all of which has been absolutely essential for us to best align with the needs of our community. Many of the planned scenarios have been eliminated in recent weeks, due to the key dates passing with extended lockdowns across the state. Unfortunately, the most recent Government announcement means our options to complete the 2021 season for our metropolitan Melbourne competitions have now reached an end. The lockdown extension through September, with no guaranteed timeframe for a safe return to football, leaves us with no choice but to cancel the 2021 season for all metropolitan Melbourne competitions: Womens State League Mens State League Metropolitan Community Juniors (U12-U21) Metropolitan MiniRoos (U7-U11) We know this news is disappointing, particularly following last year’s abandoned season. Winter sport has borne the brunt of lockdowns and in turn, the impact on our football community has been immense. Our Clubs, Associations, Officials, Administrators, Volunteers and Players have bravely weathered the storm, rallying through each round of restrictions, showing a resilience that I know will keep our community strong through yet another challenge. We appreciate you will have questions regarding this information but the club asks that you please be patient and we will continue to update our members as any further information comes to hand. Stay safe, MSC Committee

02.01.2022 Today, is RU OK? Day. So today is a friendly reminder that not just today, but any day, and often, we should check in with our mates, not to just ask if they are okay, but also to have a natter about things in general. Sending a Text, Messenger, Snapchat, tictok’ WhatsApp or a phone call is one of the most important things we can do. Start the conversation, check in on a mate.
