23.01.2022 A reminder to all members we have a working bee this sunday 9am This working be is mainly a clean up to make our grounds look neat and respectable for the 50th Anniversary luncheon but also a cleanup to reduce snake hideouts over summer. Everyone uses the grounds so we expect everyone to pitch in and help make the grounds clean, tidy and safe! If you are unable to make it on sunday but can come and complete one of the jobs on another day please let the committee know. ... list of job that need completing include - Branch pick up around grounds. - whipper snipping or mow around the base of all trees. -whipper snipping/ spray around all cross country jumps. -mowing around the back of the main shed and container. -mowing in the round yard. -Mowing/ whipper snip around the menage. -club room gutters cleaned out. -weed spraying around the club rooms/ sheds, toilets, yards and main arena. -weed spraying around show jump shed. -Remove all easily movable things in club rooms and give it a good sweep out and dust! -Bring in all portable cross country jumps (e.g table top, 1/2 barrels, brick wall, bvpc plank) and put in either sj shed or back at club rooms/ games shed -Bring in all 44 drums that are still out around xc course. -Remove any old hay bales that are still out as xc jumps. -clean up and organize games shed and container. So if you have a lawn mower or ride on, spray packs and whipper snippers you can bring and use this would be greatly appreciated. If you have a trailer to help with branch collection please bring it! Hope to see you all sunday remember we all use our grounds so please make the effort to come help and look after it!
23.01.2022 Great advice... same goes for a wet summer sheet not good to leave on your horses encourages yucky skin problems.
22.01.2022 Parasites: the worms crawl in, the worms crawl out, the worms play pinnacle on your snout... (I can sing the whole song) It is time to deworm your horses. Two ...parasites that need targeting are bots and round worms. Bots can not be found in fecal analysis. The bot flys have laid eggs on the legs of horses for months. Now that the cooler weather is here and the bot flies are gone, and it is time to rid the intestinal system and sometimes even the oral cavity of these cute little creatures. Round worms are common in weanlings and migrate through the body and lungs of younger stock. They can be somewhat resistant to some of the wormers that will use. The poo picture you see is of our own colt. He was given an ivermectin product and not until we added daily wormer did we achieve nirvana. So while we are big fans of targeted worming, it is a good idea to use an ivermectin product to kill the bots if your horse had eggs on their legs. Those eggs have grown up migrated inside your horse and need to be dispatched. If you have young stock you need to deal with the round worms as well. Call us to discuss the best products to use. There is no shame; it happens in the best of families. See more

03.01.2022 Our drought continues. This is normally a very green paddock this time of year. Many of our clients are now asking where can I get hay as the normal sources are... drying up (sadly pun intended). If you are unable to care for your horse please seek help. Dont try to hide it. If youre in our area and you have nowhere to turn please call the Clinic on 85234777. If you have more hay than you think you will need please consider donating a single bale. Hay quality is always important but in these times we have to do what we have to do. We are here to help. See more

03.01.2022 Now that the horse industry is moving towards evidence-based worming and away from routine worming, there is, understandably, a bit of confusion about when and ...how often do do faecal egg counts and/or administer a worming treatment. We understand your confusion and so we have summarised the key points in a one-page Seasonal Guide - why not print it out (A4 or A3), laminate it and pop it in your feed shed or stable. https://evidencebasedworming.com.au//2018/11/Seasonal-Guid See more
