21.01.2022 Hello Gippsland Communities Due to the nature of COVID-19, in recent times we’d taken a break from face-to-face skills maintenance and training to focus only on... responding to emergencies. From this week, you might see us back out training in small groups to ensure we have the essential skills and capability required to respond. Activities you will see our members in the community undertaking training include: Crew Member Training Storm and Water Damage Flood Focused Skills Rescue Boat Operations Road Crash Rescue Technical Rescue Land Based Swift Water Rescue & Rope Rescue Fitness Tests including Pack Hike & Swim Tests Emergency services are permitted to undertake this training, as endorsed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer. 13.01.2022 WEATHER UPDATE - Sunday 9th August Thankfully for Gippsland we didnt receive what was predicted with Rain as you can see in the below that is impacting Canberra. If this system had of been 100km Lower we would have been in a different situation.... A big thank you to teams that have traveled across the State to support our Gippsland Community. Of note was the positioning of Specialist Rescue Teams (Land Based Swift Water Rescue) from Melbourne and Hume Regions in Orbost and Cann River. A dynamic environment given COVID-19 and as an Emergency Service Organisation the actions we have had in place ensure the risk to community transmission is as low as reasonably practicable. https://www.facebook.com/413506905444021/posts/3048718795256139/?d=n

06.01.2022 Safety Drives Our Decisions It has been a busy day. Up to our 3rd Incident for the day. This one was to assist with flooding from a property in Waiwera. ... We were unable to make it any further as the road was cut off by floodwaters. A few key take aways: 1) Safety is our Priority - Us, Our Team & Our Community 2) If it is flooded forget it 3) Think outside the box - how else can we access, what other Emergency Services could assist!
