20.01.2022 Do you own a new Ford Ranger or Ford Everest? Ford announced a recall on MY17-MY19 Ford Ranger Utes and MY18-MY19 Everest SUVs for the potential failure of their transmission fluid pump gear. Fords statement: A certain number of Ranger and Everest vehicles equipped with the 2.0L Bi-Turbo engine and 10-speed transmission may experience the failure of transmission fluid pump gears, which can cause the loss of hydraulic fluid pressure in the transmission and result in a tran...smission malfunction and a loss of drive. What does this mean for you? If youre driving and the pump gear fails while driving you may loose power and youd probably need to get towed. If this happened at higher speed, sudden lacklustre performance would increase the chance of a serious accident. You can check your VIN (vehicle identification number) against the register in the ACCC Product Safety Australia Website link weve posted below. https://www.productsafety.gov.au//ford-motor-company-of-au

19.01.2022 Lets talk about brakes, baby Did you know brake fluid is hygroscopic? That means it attracts water molecules over time which is why we test brake fluid at every service. The brake fluid is hydraulic and the hygroscopic properties allows the energy of your foot on the pedal to convert into pressure squeezing onto your brake rotors to slow you down. ... But what does water have to do with all this? Over time, as the brake fluid absorbs moisture and the water content rises, due to the amount of pressure brake fluid is under the heat from the system wont boil your brake fluid but it will the water content, with the potential of creating air pockets in your braking lines. Air pockets can lead to a dead spot where your braking capacity will diminish or potentially not brake at all in that moment. So how do you know when to change brake fluid? Every service we bring out a little fancy brake fluid tester that looks like a pen that lights up. It tells us what the percentage of water in the brake fluid is. 4% and over you should be replacing your brake fluid. Some manufacturers also recommend replacing every 2 years according to the logbook. Does your brake feel soft or spongy? That could be a warning sign youre brake fluid has high water content. 17.01.2022 Are you springs sprung this spring? Say that 10 times... We all know suspension is an integral part of your vehicle, but what role does the humble spring play? There a few different types of springs and dampners in vehicles, but the main role of springs are to allow wheels the move while absorbing road bumps and jolts, while dampners prevents bouncing. ... Coil springs, like the ones in this image, are made of a single steel rod spiralled and made to stretch and compress with the up and down movement of the wheels as they travel over uneven terrain. Coils are most usually used in tandem with hydraulic dampners or better known as shock absorbers. Leaf springs are made up of one or more lengths of arched steel pieces known as leaves, stacked on top of one another, mounted horizontally. This is most commonly found on vehicles with solid axles like utes, some wagons and vans. They support the weight of the vehicle and secure the the axle to the vehicle frame. Your vehicles suspension is much more complex than just coils and leaf springs, but as everything in your vehicle, every piece serves an important purpose. And when any single piece is worn or not functioning as it was designed to it needs to be replaced to ensure durability and safety. If your vehicle is not feeling right, don't wait for your next service, take it in for your mechanic to look at it and see if there are any major issues. Need a good mechanic? 16.01.2022 And it all started with a little oil This is an oil cooler for the CLS 350 we showed you in the previous post. The oil cooler lives in the valley of the engine and when the gaskets go, it leaks oil all through the engine valley. The old gasket compressed over time and no longer seals allowing oil to seep out. What is an oil cooler? Basically its a heat exchange unit that removes excess heat from from the oil after its travelled through your engine and other parts of y...our vehicle, lubricating all those important metal pieces sliding and moving together in perfect harmony. As the oil lubricates it gains heat, cooling it down before it goes back into the sump maintains consistent viscosity, smooth for consistant lubrication until its next serviced. Not all oil coolers live in the engines valley, and not all vehicles have specific oil coolers and just use airflow and the vehicles coolant system to cool oil. 15.01.2022 Stop wasting your money on buying cheap headlight globes This is not any special new product or fancy new technology. 14.01.2022 Is your registration coming up soon? Ever wondered, why do we really need a registration inspection? And why is it so damn confusing? Youre not the only one... we get lots of questions about what it is and why its so important. So we decided to shed a little light on this topic Why is it so confusing to start with? Well, firstly it has had a number of names over the years, pink slip (because the piece of paper it was done on was originally pink!), e-safety check, rego... check, registration check, roadworthy check. All of these things are the same. In NSW, every year when you re-register your vehicle it is mandatory to get it checked and ticked off as roadworthy by an authorised inspector. What does that really mean? Long answer short, RMS (Roads and Maritime Services) has made a long list of requirements for all cars to be roadworthy. As long as a vehicle complies with all of those its processed at the time as being safe to drive. How long should an inspection take? Its a full car inspection with a brake test - expect 30-45 minutes. As long as the car tricks all the boxes youre sweet to go forth and pay registration. . What if it fails? Any items that the car doesnt meet in safety standards according to the rules will be listed on the registration slip and as long as you get it rectified in 14 days it can be marked as pass. Now the real confusion happens - does this mean you have to repair it with the service provider that initial flagged the failed items? . Short answer No. You have the right to choose any repairer. The original inspector (if different to repairer) only requires to inspect the failed items (must be within 14 days) and ticks them as repaired and presto youre roadworthy and can re-register the car. However, if you decide you want to elsewhere all together, you can do that too, youll just need to pay the inspection fee a second time. Did this provide you with more clarity? Are there other topics about your vehicle or automotive services youd like to know about? Drop us a line or leave a comment. We love to shed light on all sorts of topics. Want to make a booking? 13.01.2022 Have you ever forgotten your registration is due? Have you only realised after you have driven out of the driveway, and then panicked? Did you know driving unregistered means you are also totally liable for any accidents you may have with another person even if they are at fault? When stickers were removed from windows, so were our daily reminders that our registrations were coming up; we were all a little more organised because it was staring us in the face every time we g...ot in the car. Now you get a letter way before registration is due (sometimes mail gets lost) way before the date, we tend to loose the letter or forget about it totally, and then when it comes time for registration, if its not already in our calendars, it slips our minds. We try to ease at least this one stress from your lives by sending you a simple text message 2-3 weeks prior to your registration expiring and remind you to make a booking. This is only one of the reminders we send out to all our customers. Want your mechanic to keep in touch and make sure youre on track with your registration checks and services? Send us a DM or go to our website for a booking request. Want great service but don;t want SMSs - thats fine too! Well just take you off the SMS list. Our customer service goes beyond the workshop, who takes care of your car?

12.01.2022 @mitch_dixon55 is looking very bright in this sunny car on a gloomy and wet day Ahhh the rain! Set to be like this all week in Sydney, which is amazing for our gardens, dams and lovers of hot drinks, but not so great for driving if your tyres are slick, windscreen wipers are dry and cracking or your brakes are on the way out When it rains we tend to forget that we need longer to stop, and slamming on the brakes on freshly rained on road can lead to fishtailing and potent...ially an accident so during this prolonged rainy week we have Sydney, let's remember: Take it slow; if you're worried about time, leave 15 minutes early. Rushing and speeding on freshly wet roads puts you at greater risk of having an accident, and then rather than being 5 minutes late you might not arrive at all. ____ leave a larger gap. There's really no need to get close, tailgating doesn't help anyone but leaving extra room gives you time to stop if the person in front needs to stop suddenly. check your tyres! Pressures are important all the time, running on under-inflated tyres will make them wear out quicker and driving on flat tyres can damage them as well as your wheels. And then we came back to our favourite talking point... servicing! Because its important. Regular servicing will pick up on any issues you may have before they become a problem. We believe in providing information that will allow you to know the state of your vehicle and what maintenance will be required in the coming services either due to wear or manufacturers specifications (logbook) If you're unsure, go see your mechanic and get it checked out (if we are your mechanic, or you want us to be your mechanic, come see us!) 12.01.2022 When you get an email titled; "Its about my car..." there is a little niggling nervousness that creeps up behind you Today at 2:37pm we received one of those emails from a customer who just collected her car. Once we opened it, it continued... "Thank you for my service and pink slip. Car feels terrific."... Such a compact message - such a profound impact As a second-generation family business, there is a hidden pressure we put in ourselves; to provide a service which stands up to our family name, that the business we pour our souls into delivers the highest quality while serving the community, that we have created a culture of joy and dedication to our craft through us to our employees. All words are meaningful: the effort to write those words when they didnt have to be written is twice as meaningful. The joy of receiving a small note of gratitude is priceless. Bring someone a little joy and send a thank you letter to someone today. A mother, a teacher, a nurse, a gardener, a social media presence that inspires you, a friend, a local business. With that, we say THANK YOU to everyone in our community who supports us. Customers, suppliers, local businesses, the general community. Without everyones support, we couldnt be at our best.

07.01.2022 A beautiful day to be in the workshop When we bought in as second-generation owners of the workshop our dream was to do business on our own terms, without the preconceived notions of an old industry but to renew the idea of what going to a mechanic means today Dont get us wrong, the industry is full of amazing technicians & workshops - but the Automotive industry is tainted by old media messages of a misogynistic culture that might lurk in some dark corners but has less ...prevalence today Igor is an engineer by trade who got an MBA & decided joining his wife was better than the corporate ladder (umm yes!!) & Lydia (thats me the voice of most socials) grew up in the industry & wanted to follow in my fathers footsteps but ended taking a scenic tour through business events & customer experience Having seen the industry from an outsiders perspective & knowing the quality, skill & talent in the business we knew we could help. Well, helping turned into buying It was the BEST decision we made Business is hard, like anything thats worth putting effort into, but we are finally doing what we love together. Growing a legacy the Barries instilled in the business is just a bonus! Whats more, weve realised in the last 20 months is that your views & expectations have changed, we take pride in that This business is not about in-out, seeya later. Its about getting the individual attention you deserve, making sure the service is fit for you, not trying to squeeze you into a tick box. Its not about a one-time transaction but building trust in us & your vehicle. Its not about bamboozling jargon, but knowing your car as we do, knowing what we do keeps it safe & efficient for you & your family Now with that out of the way (what an essay ) all we wanted to say is thank you! Thank you to everyone who puts their trust in us, our staff, our services & our vision We didnt go into business to be ordinary; we went into this business to change it. Change how you view your local mechanic, & how you understand your car

07.01.2022 Check out @igor_stjepanovic_au pouring skills Warning: this is not Tang Orange ; anyone remember how amazing that drink was as a child? 04.01.2022 Got brakes!? We do! These slotted rotors not only look awesome they also have some pretty cool advantages over regular brake rotors. Slotted rotors have better performance in wet weather - although if youre in a very wet climate that sees regular rain activity, drilled rotors are the way to go. Slotted rotors provide extra support for heavy-duty vehicles, especially when towing and on off-road adventures. This is where high quality comes into play - the better the... quality and machining skills the less chance theyll crack. slotted rotors reduce the risk of pad glazing - the slots provide a reprieve from continuous contact and allow momentary pauses that stop the glazing process. Glazing mostly occurs when there is a continuous braking application like going down a steep descent. slotted discs are not only for adventurous driving.
