23.01.2022 Congratulations to the Binningup Bowling Club on a successful Ladies Gala Day yesterday. It was a tight contest but the Bunbury team team led by Anne Blechynden came out on top. We’ll be back for our 25th year of sponsorship next year!

23.01.2022 Fortunately, the funerals we conduct in the South West can return to the pre-lockdown rules from tomorrow. - The previous restrictions will continue to apply of up to one person per 2m2. - Everyone must continue to sign in via the SafeWA app or a manual register on entry. - Attendees travelling from the Perth or Peel region must obtain a g2g pass and wear a mask. To apply for a g2g pass visit www.g2gpass.com.au/ - For funerals we conduct in Perth or Peel (including Waroona),... a rule of one person per 4m2 applies up to a maximum of 150 attendees. Masks must also be worn on these funerals. - Sanitiser will be readily available and, as always, we stress the importance of not attending if you have any signs of illness. Please keep an eye on our etributes and newspaper notices for any possible changes to upcoming services. www.barrettfunerals.etributes.com.au/ See more

17.01.2022 Sometimes it’s valuable to pause, think deeply and discuss death with those close to us. We hope this exclusive documentary screening in our Busselton chapel on January 29 will inspire people to do just that. Love in Our Own Time is an Australian documentary on the big things in life: birth, love, and death. Holding a 21st century mirror to who we are, the film follows ordinary Australians, bearing witness to lives beginning and ending, and capturing moments, both simple and ...sublime, that compose the lives we lead. This is a journey to the heart of what it is to be human, giving us pause to reflect on the lives we lead. Following the film, there will be a brief ‘You Can’t Ask That’ Q & A featuring local people who deal with death every day. This event is being organised by Busselton Hospice Care Incorporated as a fundraiser and is part of the Festival of Busselton. Get your tickets today. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=K0puJOmlfrg&feature=youtu.be

15.01.2022 As this family knows all too well, Busselton Hospice Care Incorporated provides invaluable services to our community. And we are proud to be supporting the Hospice in holding a Remembrance Service this Sunday. This is for everyone who is grieving and wants to honour and remember someone they love. Warren and Nicole will be remembering Sue, an amazing wife, mother and grandmother. Sue died in May following a courageous two-year battle with cancer, aged 56. In accordance with h...er wishes, she died at home surrounded by family and friends including her husband Warren and three daughters Nicole, Rebekah and Hannah. Their loss was made even harder with Covid-19 placing significant restrictions on funerals and gatherings at that time. Understandably, in the months that followed, the family experienced some feelings of isolation in their grief and led Warren and Nicole to Busselton Hospice Care Inc. For the past three months, they have been accessing the grief support and alternative therapies on offer. Mrs Brazil said the sessions had been invaluable. Sharing my grief has been so helpful, it validates all your emotions and makes you realise that it’s understandable to feel the way I feel, she said. Warren was blissfully married to Sue for 33 years and, through the support services, is trying to process the fact that their life together had been cut short. She was always content, had a contagious smile and a strong faith in God. On top of that, she was always the best wife and mum, he said. We were looking forward to retiring together, enjoying the grandkids and travelling. I lost her too soon. Nicole and Warren shared their experiences to make people aware of the free services available through the Hospice and encourage other families to attend the upcoming Remembrance Service. See more

11.01.2022 Please share with throughout Manjimup. Such a valuable initiative to help better support those in our community who need it most. Valuable for those nearing end of life who may need a helping hand and also for potential volunteers who want to help others in a truly tangible way.

11.01.2022 Run, don't walk! Our in-house Busselton models Marissa and Natalie are very keen for you to pop in and purchase a 2021 calendar in support of Busselton Hospice Care Incorporated. They are $15 and contain beautiful images of our region by the legendary Christian Fletcher Gallery. The Hospice provides a wide range of vital services and support to those nearing the end of their life and those who are grieving. The staff and volunteers need the community behind them to keep up their incredible efforts!

09.01.2022 Please share with friends - a special event for a great cause!

09.01.2022 Attention South West educators! This is a great grant opportunity to encourage more schools to talk about death with children. Research shows that most adults feel uncomfortable talking to young people about death and dying, even though majority of us will experience the death of someone close to us before we turn 16. Let's boost our death literacy for people of all ages and better support our whole community in doing so. South West Compassionate Communities Network

08.01.2022 'Tis the season to be jolly and recognise the amazing contributions of our staff! It's been a year like no other and a worrying one for our profession in particular worldwide. We were so fortunate to have this team to professionally respond to the many new challenges we faced in 2020 in serving the families in the South West. At our staff Christmas party on Saturday night, we took the opportunity to express our immense gratitude as well as recognise some significant anniversa...ries. First and foremost, our Busselton manager Terry Munyard celebrated two decades with the company! Nicole Dye and Cathy Dillon were recognised for their impressive 15 years of service while Julie Newton and Sandra Macri were thanked for 5 years with us. We know this job brings with it many challenges but we are forever grateful for those who take it on and give so much of themselves to it. See more
