19.01.2022 Base Camp Competitive Edge #4 ALTITUDE ACCLIMATISATION: For the unacclimated athlete there is a significantly reduced performance when competing at altitudes as low as 580m above sea level (C.J. Gore - 2007). This was explained as a significant reduction in VO2 max and power output until proper acclimatisation had taken place. Hint: Katoomba sits at 1017m.... To reach your full @ultratrailaustralia potential a block of altitude training should be part of your race prep. We suggest a minimum of 4 weeks but improvement is seen up to a 3 month block. @paucapell
