21.01.2022 Hip thrusts. . They’re popular in the booty building world of today, but It’s important to be doing them right. Here’s a few tips, some easy things to check on to make sure you’re getting the most for your glutes! . Feet position- ... - Photo 1- feet are perfect. My shin comes to a vertical position at the top and my knees are roughly 90’. for glutes. - photo 2- my feet are too close. Increased knee flexion means I’m going to feel it more in my quads! - Photo 3- they’re too far away. This means I’ll feel it more in my hamstrings. - Keep your feet just outside hip width so your knees are pushed out. (Adding a resistance band around your knees can be a good reminder for this one) . Hip extension- - you want to tuck your chin towards your chest and round through the top of your back. This automatically brings your hips down taking out the risk of hyperextending at the hips. - Take a look at photo 4. It shows what happens if my head is relaxed to the bench and I’ve pushed right to the top. This is hyperextension. - By elevating my shoulders and tucking my chin (photo 1) it brings it all down and allows me to get good contraction of the glutes! . Position on the bench - - For me I like the bench just under my scapulas (shoulder blades). It allows me to get a full range of motion. @ Base Health and Fitness See more

I’ve always been mobile enough to do everything I want to do, but in more recent times I feel like my progress may have stalled a little because of my poor hip mobility. . 14.01.2022 Uni lateral glute / hamstring work for our rainy Sunday. . Because who really needs to be upstairs anyway. . Uni lateral work is good for evening out imbalances, and allows you to drastically lower the weight while still working the muscle to fatigue. It also brings in a level of balance, forcing you to stabilise as you go!

11.01.2022 Adding a deficit (elevation) to my sumo deadlifts to increase my range of motion and therefore range under tension. . Deficits are something I see used incorrectly all the time. My advice is, if you don’t know why you’re elevated or can’t explain it to someone else; A) ask someone that knows. B) get down from there. . Keen to give these a go? We were using a 3130 tempo which means. 3 seconds to the bottom, a 1 second pause at the bottom, the slowest 3 seconds that ever existed back to the top and no pause at the top. . Your focus is going to be that front leg, so drive through that leg not your foot on the bench.... . Ego left at the door.
