25.01.2022 How is your New Year's resolution going? Maybe that gym membership isn't so attractive after all and you'd rather be in the great outdoors? Maybe you started running, but finding it hard to stay motivated when you're out there by yourself? Maybe you just aren't sure how to start, or how to go to that next level, and need some advice? That's where we can help. Come running or walking in a beautiful location, with a great bunch of friendly, motivated people who, between us, have hundreds of years of experience to share. Why don't you join us on Saturday morning, 6:00 am, at Les Moore Park, Victoria Point? We'd love to see you.

25.01.2022 The past few weeks have seen members of BRW participate in events near and far. Here is what weve been up too:- - Participants in both the 50km and 100km trail distances at The Guzzler Ultra... - Half Ironman at Cebu, Phillipines - Rock N Roll 5km and half marathon distances at Dublin - 14km City2Surf at Sydney - Beans for Brains fun run at Wynnum - 160km Noosa Classic And we cant forget our own members who organised the very successful Redlands Coast Fun Run Check out our collection of pics

25.01.2022 Sad news on the weekend to hear that the historic Binna Burra Lodge has been destroyed. Many of the members of Bayside Runners and Walkers have stayed at the Lodge, as well as having competed, and participated, in many trail running events in that area over the years. The only consolation has been that there was no loss of life, with the evacuations occurring in time, along with the wise cancellation of the Coastal High 50 event that was to occur on Saturday.... We wish the owners of the Lodge all the best as we understand their intention is to rebuild. We look forward to being able to visit in the future and once again enjoy running the trails. Our thoughts are also with the other people living in the fire effected areas throughout Qld, along with those who are fighting the fires.

24.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the severe weather conditions we are cancelling the BRW run that is planned this morning. You may be able to plot your own routes over the weekend to support the Relief Run event. Please take care as their is a lot of rain forecast over the weekend.

23.01.2022 With beautiful sunrises like this it is worth getting up early and starting your weekend on a positive note. Come and join us on our weekly club run starting at 6am from Les Moore Park, Wilson Esplanade, Victoria Point with coffee and a chat afterwards at The Oven King bakery. Beginners, walkers, prams and dogs are always welcome

22.01.2022 I'm pleased to announce the latest easing of COVID restrictions, as from lunchtime today, 3 July 2020, effectively meaning the (almost) full resumption of our club training activities. We also now encourage new members to come along and try out the club. The key points:... Participation in club activities is a personal choice, we will all respect any individuals decision to participate, or to not participate, at this time Social distancing, non-contact, hand-washing, and respiratory hygiene, rules all still apply If a member feels unwell, they should not participate in any club activities and should seek appropriate medical treatment All members are encouraged to sign up to the COVID Safe App Up to 100 people may train together, so effectively all training and running activities may recommence, including Monday night Strength and Stretch; Tuesday morning Cleveland Point; Thursday morning Wellington Point; Thursday morning Victoria Point; and Saturday Victoria Point club runs. Equipment, towels, water bottles etc are not to be shared at any club activity or event The Time Trial on the last Saturday of each month will recommence. At the post-run bakery/ café we must comply with the maximum number of people dining-in as specified at the venue, being respectful and conscious of other patrons. Once members have finished their drinks/ food, they need to move on. If there already the maximum number allowed dining-in (including any other patrons), the next person onwards need to be satisfied with take-away, and then move-on. We must comply with any direction given by the bakery/ café owner, including seating arrangements. Still no announcements at the bakery, they will be made on FB Members may self-organize runs on the members page, but the organizer is responsible for the group adhering to the social distancing requirements and keeping of the register. A register must be kept of all participants in any organized club activity for contact tracing purposes. Names of members will be sufficient. If there are non-club members participating, their names and contact details will need to be kept. The person organizing the activity has the responsibility of taking the list of participants and forwarding it to Graham Smith (in his role as Secretary). The registers will need to be kept for 56 days. As a precaution (and because it is simply too difficult under the current restrictions), we will not be holding any club BBQs/ catering for the foreseeable future Further information about the club and our regular training schedule is on our website - www.baysiderunners.com

22.01.2022 It's Spring on the Redlands Coast - time to get that beach-bod in tip-top shape. Give your fitness program a boost by joining one of our Thursday morning runs - two great locations where you can check out the beach conditions. And at this time of the year, you'll be out there as the sun rises - bonus! Either start from Ray's Bakery, Main Rd, Wellington Point, or from the Oven King Bakery, Colburn Ave, Victoria Point. Both groups leave at 5:00 am and reconvene for coffee afterwards (pastries optional).

22.01.2022 In light of the world-wide precautions being taken to slow the spread of COVID19, we have decided to suspend all the regular Bayside Runners and Walkers activities, including our regular runs on Tuesday (Cleveland Point), Thursday (Wellington and Victoria Points), and Saturday (Victoria Point) runs. This will be at least until the end of March, but we anticipate this suspension will probably continue into April. At the same time, we recognize that running and walking out in t...he open air is one of the best ways for us to maintain our fitness and well-being both physically and mentally. Therefore we expect, and hope, that you will use your own judgment in deciding how you continue to get your fix, and who with. We are also very conscious of the flow-on effect this decision will have on local small businesses, especially the Oven King Bakery, Browns Bakery, Tanjas, and Rays Bakery. Therefore, we really appeal to you all to continue to support and patronize these business, and all other small businesses, as much as you can in the interim. Stay safe and we hope to see you out there again, happy and healthy, soon.

05.01.2022 Meet Wendy Gaut Why is Wendy jumping so high with excitement you ask? Cause Wendy loves running Wendy loves running so much she doesnt know how and when to stop Already this year Wendy has ran the Gold Coast Marathon in July and recently the Melbourne marathon in October. Youd think she take a break now right?... Wrong!! Wendy just keeps on going. Wendys next goal is the Gold Coast 50 in December I wonder if Wendy knows that its hot in December We wish Wendy all the best in her training especially now that its getting hotter and that in itself is a huge challenge. This will be Wendys very first 50km event and we are already super proud of her Fun Wendy Facts: Wendy has been a member of BRW for 5 years, Wendy has a super huge fear of goannas (funny for us but not for her) and getting sand on her running shoes (Wendy will never run out to King Island), Wendy just recently had her very first tequila shot, Wendy is a ball of fun, we all love Wendy

05.01.2022 Another Saturday gone, and more members of Bayside Runners and Walkers have achieved some massive goals. Congratulations to Cheryl Walker on completing the Tarawera Trail Ultramarathon - thats 102km over hilly, rough terrain in NZ. And also congratulations to Giles Moore on running for 12 hours at the Dusk to Dawn event at Caboolture. He wasnt the only one at Caboolture either, many of the club members braved the torrential rain to run all sorts of distances from 10km to ov...er two hours. Special thanks to the support crew. No matter what your running or fitness goals, from walking your first kilometre through to what these crazies just did - BRW provides you the experience, fun, and friendship to get you there.

04.01.2022 Here's a feel good video... Last weekend a group of BRW members were to take part in the 6 Foot event down at the Blue Mountains. It's a 45km trail event starting from Katoomba to Jenolan Caves. Unfortunately the event was cancelled due to the floods which has restricted bus transportation to and from Jenolan Caves. Our enthusiastic members decided to head on down anyway and run their own 42.2km 6 Foot Fatass run whilst others ran on the UTA course.... Wanting to make this weekend memorable as everyone had trained their butts off for this event during the heat of Summer Craig Hooper decided to hand make medals. So take a seat, turn the volume up and grab a tissue...... https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=PJJCqZ4sC4c

02.01.2022 Giving back to the community is one of the best things about our awesome club. Our Redlands Coast Fun Run committee has worked tirelessly for the past 6 months to host another very successful event. This morning we hosted a barbecue breakfast to officially thank and present donations to the local community organisations that assisted at the event. The following organisations were represented at this mornings barbeque, Redlands Centre for Women, Layne Utz #Laynesrubbishcollection, Redlands Place Makers, Redland SES Unit, R.A.P.S (PLATFORM AND SPRINGBOARD) DIVING CLUB QLD and Alexandra Hills Mens Shed. A total of $6,000 was given away! A big thank you also to Redland City Council, and to Deputy Mayor Lance Hewlett and Peter Mitchell Councillor Division 2 who have been big supporters of our club and the fun run.
