25.01.2022 Bayside GPS group is now up on KA72!! All you need to do is be a financial member of Bayside and register with KA72 if you haven't done so already. Log in and go to groups page, find the group (2nd page at bottom) and join. Also don't forget Bayside Sailboards open day is on this Sunday, where we will be on hand to run through comp details.

24.01.2022 The slalom racing schedule has been updated as per the picture below. There will no longer be races on Sunday December 20 as we believe this is too close to Christmas to ensure good numbers and to have the necessary volunteers. We have added a race on Sunday 10th January to make up for this cancellation.



23.01.2022 Hi all, BBQ tomorrow starts at 11 up in the stand at the windsurfing centre. You can access RQYS with a day pass picked up from reception. This is free for your first three visits. See previous post for the increasing costs per visit. You can also park along the side on davenport drive and walk around through the windsurf gate. ... We will have a rego desk set up on the concrete infront of the containers. Please come and fill in the COVID sheet and sign on if you want to do the practice races. We will have a briefing at 1230 by the race officers to explain the course and starting procedures. From there we will alternate between fin and foil races to give everyone an opportunity to get acquainted. Wind permitting. Last race to be finished by 4. If you want to chat GPS come talk to Jayson and Mike. Looking forward to see you there!

23.01.2022 We love to see kids experiencing the fun and exhilaration of slalom and GPS sailing and want to encourage their participation along with their parents. We have had numerous enquiries from families about membership prices so we would like to offer a family membership package. - full paying adult/s ($70) plus only the insurance fee of $30 for kids 18 and under.... - $5 race fee for 18's and under instead of the usual $15 (member entry) We look forward to welcoming you!

17.01.2022 Don't forget open day next Sunday September 6th at windsurf beach out the front of RQ. We will be running fun races to allow new and existing sailors to get to grips / refresh with the course and procedures. There will also be a welcome BBQ. Note you MUST be a member of Bayside OR an affiliated Windsurfing Australia club to race. If you are not a member of a windsurf club and would like to come and try the races to see if you would like to join you can either - - sign a waive...r - join Bayside as a social member for $40. This gives you third party insurance for any time you go windsurfing for the year. You can then pay the additional $30 if you decide to continue racing. IF you have windsurfing Queensland insurance already you can join Bayside for $30. You can sign up at the website link below. This season we want to encourage sailors of all levels to come experience the thrill of slalom racing. From gybing with ten others breathing down your neck to trying to better your mates and creating close rivalries. We provide fun, inclusive racing in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Come to learn, progress and push your limits! GPS racing is a keen...ly followed discipline that is gaining in popularity. With new, more inclusive formats this Bayside season will be stacked with competitions for those that are only after one thing - SPEED. Come try this exciting side of windsurfing and learn from some of the best in the country. 13.01.2022 Thanks everyone for a great opening day. 29 sailors registered on the day for some fun practice races. Great to see new faces and a lot of excited young sailors. 12.01.2022 Who remembers the Waterloo Cup of yesteryear? A four lap marathon between RQ and Green Island? Well it's back!! As part of the Bayside slalom series we will be running this popular event. However instead of four laps the new cup will be total laps counted over an hour period, with a Le Mans start! This way we might entice the one hour GPS sailors to come play! ;)... A date will be chosen throughout the season when the forecast suits the reaching conditions required. Get those fitness levels up!!

06.01.2022 We completed what we believe was the first official slalom foil race in Aus today! Had a great few races when the wind cooperated. Great to see so many enthusiastic foilers on the startline and cant wait for more foil races in the season ahead. Heres a quick startline clip from our race officer for the day Simon Tribe.

04.01.2022 Bayside Sailboard Open Day is upon us! We will have a BBQ from 1100. A race briefing / race instruction will commence at approx. 1230 for new and old to refresh their knowledge. Fun introductory races will start not long after with an emphasis on learning the starting procedure before real races start in round one.... A number of races will be set aside as foil only for all to get accustomed to a reaching course. Approved buoyancy vests are required for all races and helmets for foil. You must be a member of Bayside or an affiliated Windsurfing Aus club to race, otherwise you must sign a waiver. If you still want to sign up to be a member you can on the day. Please come to the desk and sign in when you arrive (next to containers at windsurf centre). Early forecast is looking promising so hope to see you there! Mitch Pearson President PS. For those wanting to access the RQ rigging site you must go to the RQ reception and request a day pass. The prices are as follows - First 3 times are complimentary 4-6 times | $15 per day 7-12 times | $35 per day General Sailing Sail Pass Day Member must then join in the appropriate category of membership

03.01.2022 Bayside slalom round 5 is on tomorrow! A nice 10 to 15 knot sea breeze is forecast so looking likely for foil slalom. This will be called at the briefing at 1200 with 1300 first possible start. Fun, welcoming racing that’s great for improving your skills. Newcomers welcome (who are insured through windsurfing Australia). Helmet and pfd required.... Hope to see you all there.
