09.01.2022 Hospitality has been a part of my life for three decades and it’s devastating to see how much damage this virus is causing to an industry and city that I love. ...As a company we are committed to driving down the case numbers of Covid-19 in the community and striving at all times to prioritise the health of our staff and customers. However, on this occasion we believe the restrictions placed on the hospitality industry are completely out of touch with the reality of the situation. We support the extended lockdown, we support stronger contact tracing and we support the reduced density of our venues to allow for adequate social distancing. We do not support targeting zero cases of Covid-19 across a 14 day period before allowing any indoor seating within hospitality venues. We don’t believe this is an achievable target, it could take many months to reach zero cases across a 14 day average. I’m requesting the government revises its plan to prioritise the community’s health and accommodate the safe opening of business within Victoria. Targeting zero is an unrealistic plan for Victoria given its population and density. If you are passionate about Melbourne’s hospitality industry and want to help make a difference, I implore you to message @danielandrewsmp and request change. If we work through this together, I believe we can find a better way. Following the most recent announcement concerning stage 4 restrictions we wanted to let our coffee community know that we will be allowed to remain up and running. Following a strict COVID safe plan, as a support business to the hospitality industry we are available to work as normal. ... We know that this is a trying time for everyone in Victoria, we want to extend our love and support not just to our coffee family but to the wider community. Keep safe and keep smiling. We will get through this.
