21.01.2022 P R O P O S E D. J O B K E E P E R. C H A N G E S! So if you haven't already heard, there have already been some significant proposed changes recently to JobKeeper. However, as of Friday, there were some additional modifications proposed. Below gives an up to date summary of the different aspects of JobKeeper that may be impacted from these recent proposals. Please note that these HAVE NOT yet been passed and officially legislated as yet, but some forewarning is... always great when it comes to JobKeeper -who's with me?? EMPLOYEE ELIGIBILITY DATE CHANGES TO EXISTING JOBKEEPER RECIPIENTS - From 3 August 2020 the relevant date of employment could move from 1st March to 1 July 2020, increasing employee eligibility for the existing scheme AND the extension. SO WHAT COULD THIS MEAN?? This could potentially mean that some staff that were not eligible on 1st March 2020, could become eligible for JobKeeper. JOBKEEPER EXTENSION - JobKeeper could now continue to be available to eligible businesses (including the self-employed) and not-for-profits until 28 March 2021. JOBKEEPER PAYMENT RATES - The payment rate of $1,500 per fortnight for eligible employees and business participants may be reduced to $1,200 per fortnight from 28 September 2020 and to $1,000 per fortnight from 4th January 2021. From 28 September 2020, lower payment rates could apply for employees and business participants that worked fewer than 20 hours per week in the relevant reference period. JOBKEEPER ELIGIBILITY - From 28 September 2020, businesses and not-for-profits may be required to reassess their eligibility with reference to their actual GST turnover in the September quarter 2020 to be eligible for the JobKeeper Payment from 28th September 2020 to 3rd January 2021. In the face of an ever evolving situation, we are always here to help. But please be rest assured we will keep you updated in regards to the recently announced proposed extension and modification to JobKeeper and how it will affect you. Your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated at this time of continual change which is understandably required in recognition of the continued pressures that businesses are facing. If you wish to source more information regarding JobKeeper and its proposed changes, please refer to our comment for the link to the Treasury site with Fact Sheet. Happy reading!!

16.01.2022 For all that is going on in the world today, We must never forget the selfless commitment and integrity of those that have gone before us and gave their own personal sacrifice to give every single one of us the ability to have our opinion and actions. Remember, be thankful and be the best we can be
15.01.2022 The High Court of Australia has recently handed down a decision clarifying how paid personal/carer's leave is accrued and taken under the National Employment Standards (NES). This decision by the High Court clarified that: the entitlement to 10 days of personal/carer's leave under the NES is calculated based on an employee's ordinary hours of work, not working days... 10 days of personal/carer's leave is calculated as 1/26 of an employee's ordinary hours of work in a year. This decision overturns a decision made by the Full Federal Court of Australia in August 2019 where it was held that personal/carer's leave accrues in working days, not hours. Need more information?? See links in the comments for the updated Leave Calculator and the updated Fair Work website link.

But it is not just for Bookkeepers - as a small business, and after the tough year that has been, why not give you and your team some time to celebrate your achievements and reflect on your own personal growth for the year!!

13.01.2022 Mondays don't always have to be a drag! Be a rebel and make it a good one.
13.01.2022 LOVE this quote. It’s so easy to want to say ‘yes’ to every opportunity that comes your way - but sometimes the smartest thing you can do for your business is say ‘no thanks!’ and feel empowered doing so. Find you niche, live it and love it and don't feel bad about saying no sometimes.
13.01.2022 So true... Sales - Profit = Expenses It's that simple.
13.01.2022 Want to know a little secret to success?? A big part of it is by simply showing up, or appearing consistently and giving energy to the things that really matter in life! When a challenge presents itself, show up and face it. When an opportunity shows up for you, take it and keep an open mind. When you aren't sure about your next step, show up and be present with the options that are presenting themselves to you!... Some days are definitely harder than others to apply this principle to, and continue the journey, stay positive and push through, (which I have experienced many of of late!!)- but honestly I have first hand proof that persistence really is the key. Need help staying on track and showing up in your business? Reach out and lets chat

03.01.2022 Make friends with the cloud! Now is as good a time as any to assess and maybe reduce your paper trail. So why not get your business documentation into the cloud? There are just so many options out there. Here are a few simple starting point if you aren't already using them... Get your business books into some software - MYOB or Xero are great options.... Get your receipts and invoices in order with Receipt Bank or Hubdoc. And no more worrying about those receipts fading! Streamline your workflow - we love Karbon here at Busy Bee Bookkeepers - but maybe Asana or Monday for other industries?? Setup and start using OneDrive, Dropbox and Office 365 - these cloud storage options are a must! There you go - what can you add to this list?? Would love to hear from you!
03.01.2022 Have you ever taken the time to really think what are you passionate about? What are your dreams? What makes you happy in life? Finding a profession you can excel in, and truly enjoy can be one of the hardest things. I am lucky to have found my passion in helping people with their business finances, which aligns perfectly with my love of numbers and the fact I am detail orientated. However, I am always growing and learning, and although I am doing what I love, there are still tough days! What about you? Have you found your purpose and enjoy doing it every day? How do you continue to grow?
03.01.2022 Getting these things in place as soon as possible can have numerous benefits for your new business. But hey, it's never too late. Read on and take note! Invest in some accounting software - Spreadsheets just don't cut it here - the time alone to do your bookkeeping using spreadsheets makes this inefficient and quite often inaccurate. Get a real snapshot of your business with ease using the right software. Open a business bank account - there is no good reason to be... mixing personal and business transactions if you're serious about your business venture. Don't let your business profit or loss story get mixed up with household bills! Enlist the help of a bookkeeper early on - even just to assist with getting the original setup correct, your systems running correctly and some training to have a good understanding of this side of the business - this is a worthwhile investment. Decide how you are going to keep records - remember the ATO requires you to keep business records for 5 years! Think paperless options...Receipt Bank, Cloud capture and storage. You'll never look back! Understand the obligations in your business structure- Know your structure and the rules that apply!
02.01.2022 We are so proud to be experts in our industry. Thank you to the team at the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers who are the backbone of our industry and provide us with exceptional support so we can continue to support our clients confidently
02.01.2022 Don't you agree?? Our time is so valuable . My recommendation is that you should make a list and outsource what you don’t love or don’t have time for. It really is the key to success and something I am embracing more and more. When deciding what to outsource in your life, don’t just consider how much the outsourced service costs. Have a think about some of these things before ruling it out...... Make sure you consider the value of your own time. If you can earn more doing something else than the task at hand, then it’s a no brainer to free up more time for yourself to earn those extra dollars by outsourcing the task. If spending time with family or friends is more valuable to you than spending an extra two hours a day working to get something done, then send that task off to someone else who is capable of doing it with the vigour it deserves. We simply cannot do it all! Or maybe we can. But not without burning out. And no one wants to burnout! Give it some thought!!
01.01.2022 Have you heard about the $600 WA Household Electricity Credit Offset?? The McGowan Government announced on 4 October, as part of the 2020-21 State Budget, a one-off electricity account credit to reduce electricity bills will apply for all residential customers. The $600 one-off WA Household Electricity Credit will be applied to eligible customers’ accounts as an offset on and from 1 November 2020, allowing more families to have a bit of extra money available in the lead u...p to Christmas. How wonderful is that?? And there is no application or opt-in action needed from customers that have an eligible customer account to receive the credit.
