20.01.2022 The benefits of Western Australia’s success in managing COVID-19 were on display over the weekend - you all deserved it. People are back in work and our economy... is recovering, as life gets back to normal, under the watchful eye of our health experts. But we don't need to look far to know that the threat of COVID-19 is far from gone - the situation in Victoria is a sobering reminder of how easily the virus can start spreading through the community. It's also a timely reminder of how important our own hygiene and habits are to stopping it in its tracks. While our hard state and international borders are essential to keep the virus at bay, our most effective defence is our own personal vigilance. We all have a personal responsibility to do the right thing, now more than ever. With almost no restrictions left inside WA, we need to ensure we keep each other safe. It’s pretty simple: Wash your hands regularly, with soap or sanitiser and for at least 20 seconds. Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze using a tissue or flexed elbow. Stay home if you’re sick - no excuses. Avoid unnecessary contact like handshakes or hugs. Wherever possible, try to keep physical distancing. It isn't always possible, but it is important that we continue to give each other space when we can - especially people we don't know. And most importantly, please get tested if you have a cough, a sore throat or a fever - if the virus is in the community, we need to know as soon as possible. All of these actions won’t just keep you and your family safe, they keep the whole community safe, and help keep any future outbreaks of COVID-19 under control. And that will mean that we can have the confidence to keep doing the things we love and keep the good times going. Cheers WA!

19.01.2022 Keep doing all the good things you’re doing, like keeping up the elbow bumps, washing your hands often with soap and water or hand sanitiser and staying home if sick. It’s up to each of us to keep it safe WA.

08.01.2022 As part of WA’s updated border controls, any travellers who arrived in WA from Victoria since December 21 are required to be tested for COVID-19 on Day 11 of th...eir stay in WA. You can get tested at any of WA’s COVID Clinics - or at public hospitals in regional areas without a clinic (please call ahead). For more information on testing, please visit https://www.healthywa.wa.gov.au/covidclinics You can find out what day you need to be tested here: https://www.wa.gov.au//victoria-arrivals-frequently-asked- Travellers affected by the new requirements which were put in place yesterday are also being contacted through the G2G Pass system. Thanks again for your patience and cooperation to help keep our State safe.

07.01.2022 Stay home if sick, don’t go to work and avoid social activities and crowds. COVID-19 is not over. It's up to each of us to keep WA safe.

05.01.2022 Effective from 6pm tonight, the wearing of masks will be compulsory on all public transport. If you do not wear a mask then you will not be permitted to travel on any Transperth service.

05.01.2022 Western Australians in Perth, the Peel region and the South West region are now under five-day lockdown. People in these regions are required to stay home, exc...ept for the following four reasons: 1. Shopping for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies. 2. Medical or health care needs including compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable. 3. Exercise, within their neighbourhood, but only with one other person and only for one hour per day. 4. Work, where you cannot work from home or remotely. In addition to this stay home rule, if you do leave home for one of those four reasons, you will be required to wear a mask. Masks must be worn at all times outside of your place of residence, including at work, while exercising, on public transport, and in your private vehicle when other passengers are in the vehicle. Masks are not mandatory for children under 12 years of age or a person who has a physical or mental illness, condition or disability. I understand this might feel strange, and a little difficult to get used to, but it is so important that we do everything we can to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Western Australia. Thank you.

04.01.2022 Following a successful start to the two-week DETECT Snapshot asymptomatic COVID-19 testing program, today we’ve announced a major expansion of work groups eligi...ble for participation. School staff, transport workers and tourism industry employees will now be able to participate in DETECT Snapshot program. From tomorrow until Wednesday 10th June, the following workers who are aged over 18 years and display no symptoms of COVID-19 will be able to undergo a swab test for the virus: - School staff involved in any function in a school setting (pre-kindergarten to Year 12), including Department of Education employees; - Tourism sector staff of accredited tourism businesses; - Transport workers such as truck, bus and train drivers, maritime workers, security and customer service staff working in public transport, and aviation workers - Healthcare workers including Western Australian Health staff, employees in private hospitals, residential aged care facilities, general practices, pharmacies, the disability sector, or any worker employed by an organisation delivering health services; - WA Police staff; - Meat workers employed in an abattoir, meat packing or in further processing such as small goods manufacture - Retail workers such as employees in supermarkets, department stores and specialty stores; and - Hospitality workers such as employees in cafes, restaurants, pubs or hotels. I would encourage participation from as many eligible adults as possible before the end of the DETECT Snapshot program on Wednesday 10th June 2020. Anyone with fever, history of fever, or respiratory symptoms including shortness of breath, cough and/or sore throat can still be tested at a designated COVID-19 clinic.

04.01.2022 While Western Australia remains free of community transmission, we are doing everything possible to ensure our State is prepared, in case COVID-19 returns in ou...r community. So, beginning today, certain businesses and venues will be required to keep a COVID-19 contact register to assist in contact tracing of an outbreak occurred. Our Government has released a free app, SafeWA, to make the process as quick and easy as possible, and paper registers will also be available. Businesses or venues required to keep a contact register include: - food and licenced venues (restaurants, cafés, bars, pubs, taverns, nightclubs); - gyms, indoor sporting centres and pools; - places of worship and funeral parlours; - beauty and personal care services including hairdressers and barbers; - galleries and museums; - cinemas, theatres and other entertainment venues; - auction houses and real estate inspections; - community facilities, libraries and halls; - zoos and amusement parks; - function centres; and - accommodation facilities that already have check-in arrangements in place (i.e. hostels, hotels, large campgrounds). Records will ONLY be used for the purpose of COVID-19 contact tracing, should it be required, and will only be kept for 28 days and not used for any other purpose. 03.01.2022 It's R U OK?Day, a reminder that every day is a day to start a conversation that could change a life. Today we're calling on Australians to learn what to say af...ter R U OK? so they can keep the conversation going when someone says they're not OK. There's more to say after R U OK? Learn what to say when listening with an open mind Learn what to say when encouraging action Learn what to say when checking in Learn how to continue a conversation that could change a life. When we know what to say next we can help someone open up and find pathways to support long before they're in crisis.
