24.01.2022 Have you heard of Diastasis Recti? A condition that commonly affects postpartum women (but not always), it involves the separation of the abdominal wall, which can show as a visible bulge on the tummy, or a hollowed out area along the midline of the abdominals. An incredibly common condition, and one that can cause some distress after the miracle of childbirth - but not one that needs to stick around forever! Come and see us here at Bounce Back to allow your body to safely bo...unce back (pun intended ). Our knowledgable team can help the abdominal muscles to repair through deep core activation as part of your targeted rehab program. 20.01.2022 Exercise is very popular at the moment and with good reason. The benefits for both physical and mental health are endless. However what if you are finding it hard to sustain a regular exercise routine with a big environment change. You arent alone! Undertaking a behaviour (in this case exercise) is highly influenced by the environment we are in. Factors such as work stress, social distancing, gym closures, sleep schedules, financial situation, and anxiety about what is cur...rently happening can all make us feel overwhelmed. Dont feel the pressure to complete long workouts and dont be so hard on yourself if you cant uphold your normal exercise standards . Remember something will be better then nothing. Here are some examples you can try if you are finding this current situation overwhelming. - Focus on low level physical activity- This can include a daily walk for however long you can currently fit into your routine - Find a quick achievable workout. 10-15 minutes of body weight exercises would work awesome if you are currently busy or just need that kick start again. - Look at improving other areas you dont usually work on. Set 5 minutes aside for mobility drills or even a 10 minute run to improve aerobic capacity - Find a friend (only one) and look to meet up with them outside for a quick workout. The social interaction will be great! - Look for things outside of exercise to work on. Sleep, nutrition, psychological health etc. Remember you dont have to do what everyone else is doing. You have the ability to choose what is achievable for the current situation YOU are in. Find the reason why you want to exercise then set a plan to undertake. If you need help with this feel free to reach out to the bounce back team
19.01.2022 FAQ weve had of recent is how do I use Telehealth? Youll get an email close to your appointment time thatll contain a link click on the link and join the call. Heres a quick little video on how to do just that. Some pointers to remember are: - Youll need good internet connection. If you can watch a video online, you can make a video call. - A private, well-lit area is also required. Make sure if theres a window behind you that you close the blinds that way we can see ...you better without any glare - Make sure your web-camera (usually built into your device) is centered and showing a majority of YOU. Try not to have it pointing up at the ceiling or only showing half of you. - Most laptops and smartphones have built in speakers and microphones but headphones tend to work best (especially wireless ones) so if you have the option pop them in! It might take a few goes to get use to telehealth and all the features involved but thats ok! Your therapist and the team at bounce back is here to help so if you have any questions reach out! Stay safe in these crazy times! See more

15.01.2022 As the new year kicks off, setting goals is going to be a huge priority for many. Year after year, majority of people find goal setting or hitting their goals set difficult Does this sound like you? If the answer is "YES", we've got you covered ... Here is how you to do it in 4 simple steps: Find the key objective: Have a clear purpose with the end goal in mind. Find what matters most to you and what will create the biggest impact on your life. This could be losing weight, personal growth, financial outcomes or improving quality of life. There is no right or wrong here and its ok to break it into distinct areas. Determine the results: How will you measure success? Focus more on quantitative rather then qualitative. For e.g. "Losing 2kg in 1 month" vs. "looking better". Other examples could be reading 3 books in 3 months or going on two holidays a year. Focus on the tasks and process to reach the goal: If you want to achieve steps 1 and 2, step 3 is key. You MUST make it happen. Example, committing 3 days at the gym or spending 20 minutes reading before bed each night Stay accountable: This can be to yourself, by tracking everything and scheduling things into your calendar. It can also happen by telling other people. When it becomes public knowledge that you are working towards a goal, it's more motivating to stay on track! Its perfectly okay not to have big audacious goals either, and just moving in the right direction is fine. Next time you go to set some goals refer back to this checklist to ensure you reach that end point GOOD LUCK! . . . . #bounceback #bouncebackphysio #newyearsresolution #goalsetting

09.01.2022 A word from our Psychologist Nav - Mind Over Matter Psychological Services Today is R U OK? Day. Before you ask the question to someone, please check out the website, watch the video and explore the resources, just in case someone says "No".... Also, before asking someone and after checking out the website, ask yourself, "am I ok?" If you're not ok, take the advice you'd give to someone else. Seek appropriate help from a professional or genuinely well meaning person or people, in your life. I say this because despite being family or friends, you need to reflect honestly about the past and if these people have actually been there for you. Have you felt better after the conversation with them or after receiving their help? Hope you have an awesome enriching and inspiring day! Remember, like Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and Father's Day, we should be expressing our love more often not just on special occasions. We should be asking each other R U OK? more often. - Nav Director and Principal Psychologist at Mind Over Matter Psychological Services Feel free to PM me, text or call me on 0423062018 or email me [email protected]. https://www.ruok.org.au/

08.01.2022 Why it's so important to stay healthy and active at this time... Currently with Covid-19, people are being asked to self isolate and health facilities such as gyms are being asked to close. It's more important than ever to stay on top of your health! We have put together some strategies to help you: ... * Keep up exercise! - Ask your trainer/gym to write you a home program or some exercises that you can do at home. An appointment with one of our Exercise Physiologists can help you put together a safe home exercise program. * Go for a daily walk in the sunshine and fresh air! - Vitamin D helps increase your immune system and the fresh air helps to keep your lungs healthy. * We will continue our Small Group Training Program here at Bounce Back (whilst keeping in mind social distancing guidelines). If this interests you, please get in touch with the clinic and wed be happy to help! * Increase your fresh fruit and vegetable intake! - Nutritionally, Vitamin C, Echinacea and Astragalus are very beneficial. * Keep socially connected! Call your friends and family to check in on how they are going. You might even like to try a Skype dinner, instead of going out! (Plus, ordering take-away from your favourite restaurants, would really help the hospitality industry)... and if youre feeling lonely, Hayley at our Picton Clinic is always great for a chat! * Keep your stress levels down - add some meditation and yoga to your daily routine. Did you know that cortisol (your stress hormone) affects your immune system? As always, if we can help in any way, please dont hesitate to give the clinic a call on (02) 4648 1669!
07.01.2022 First day of our new small group training classes! Thank you to all our wonderful patients who came and tried out our classes and our new space! We still have some spots available in our September classes so give us a call on (02) 4648 1669 if you'd like to come and try them for yourself!
06.01.2022 #TrivialTuesday Heading into the winter sport season, many of us return to playing contact sports, and with that comes increased risk of injuries. One of these injuries is concussion. So what is concussion?... Concussion is a traumatic brain injury, induced by biomechanical forces to the head, or anywhere on the body which transmits an impulsive force to the head. The Concussion Recognition Tool can be used to identify possible signs and/or symptoms of concussion. Signs of a possible concussion - Lying motionless on the ground - Slow to get up after a hit to the head - Disorientation, confusion or inability to respond appropriately to questions - Blank or vacant look - Balance, walking difficulties, motor incoordination, stumbling and/or slow, laboured movements. Symptoms of a possible concussion - Headache, blurred vision, emotional, difficulty concentrating, sensitivity to light or noise, irritability, difficulty remembering, nausea or vomiting, fatigue, nervous or anxious, drowsiness, dizziness. Here are some simple questions to ask to anyone over 12 years of age with a suspected concussion: - What venue are we at today? - Which half is it now? - Who scored last in this game? - What team did you play last week? - Did your team win the last game? REMEMBER The most important consideration in the management of concussion is the welfare and safety of the player! If managed appropriately, most symptoms and signs of concussion resolve spontaneously. If you want any further information, give us a call on (02) 4648 1669 or have a look at these great resources: https://concussioninsport.gov.au/ https://australia.rugby//safety-and-/concussion-management
