The staff purchased sausages for $1 each. They also had cupcakes and sported their yellow R U OK? shirts and other merchandise.... 19.01.2022 KEEP AUS BEAUTIFUL WEEK 2020 17-23 August 2020 Keep Australia Beautiful Week is held late August each year to raise awareness about the simple things we can all do in our daily lives to reduce our impact on the environment and encourage action.... The Keep Australia Beautiful Network (KAB) has been working on a litter free and sustainable Australia for over 50 years. Engaging in each state and territory of Australia, KAB are helping Australians to care for their local environments. With the unprecedented times of 2020 and the new lifestyle some of us are facing, we are creating a different impact on the waste were producing. Items like single-use food and beverage containers, face masks, hand sanitizer and gloves are in high demand, all with the potential to end up as litter in our beautiful country. KAB are taking a different approach this year for Keep Australia Beautiful Week and encouraging all Australians to work towards a litter-free Australia from the comfort of our own homes. They are focusing on 3 main ways to reduce and recycle some of the goods we are using: 1. How to protect you and your loved ones without the cost to our planet; 2. How to keep good hygiene practices that dont cost the earth; 3. How to reduce and recycle the single-use consumables. For more information go to: https://kab.org.au Or follow their socials for daily tips Keep Australia Beautiful #KABWeek2020 #bbprint #sustainableaustralia #recycleright

09.01.2022 NAMING RIGHTS SECURED FOR MACKAY STADIUM!! On Thursday Mackay Regional Council, Gary And BB Print's new business partner Anthony, from the Allclear Print Group, signed off on another four-year deal to cement the naming rights of Mackay's Stadium. "It's fantastic to have Stadium Mackay supported by a local business, rather than a national company with offices in capital cities," Gary said.... This was also a great opportunity to introduce Anthony, who has been the new business partner since February. Having Allclear Print Group on board with BB Print hasn't changed who we are or how we operate. It has given us the opportunity to extend our knowledge, gives us wider support if required and provides us with a broader range of print material. BB Print are humbled to be offered this opportunity for the naming rights once again and are excited to share this with Anthony. Read the full media release for the naming rights here: https://bit.ly/3j5ILel

08.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW? Full colour products are actually printed using a 4 colour ink process. The 4 coloured inks are cyan (blue), magenta (pink), yellow and black (the k in cmyk). It is currently the standard system for offset and digital printing and is the most widely used printing process in the world.... Each image or print will have a certain percentage of each base colour (CMYK) to create the final image. Small dots of these colours are printed at different angles to create the printed image. The 4 coloured inks can reproduce on paper almost 70% of the colours visible to the human eye!

04.01.2022 WAR ON WASTE A new export ban was meant to be implemented on July 1 2020 which meant that recycle companies could no longer accept our paper and cardboard waste, including printed cut-offs. The export ban was largely due to China no longer accepting any offshore waste and also due to the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) decision last year to ban the export of waste plastic, paper, glass and tyres, and build Australia's capacity to generate high-value re...cycled commodities. But what does that mean for our printing companies? In an article published on sprinter.com.au, The Real Media Collective (TRMC) chief executive officer Kellie Northwood stated that Printers are not able to sell printed waste papers offshore and instead have to fund the printed waste to be sent to landfill. A cost Printers can ill-afford prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and most definitely unable to fund in the current climate. A negative outcome for the industry and for the environment The COAG have released a Waste Response Strategy which outlines the timeframes for the waste export ban. The strategy will be phased over a four-year timetable, with Mixed and unsorted paper and cardboard ban being extended and will now come into effect on 1 July 2024. While locally we, BB Print, are working with our waste companies to find an alternative for our recyclable print waste, we are still in a state of unknown as to what the future of our recyclable print waste looks like. Will our waste need to go straight to landfill? What sort of impact does that have on the environment? Between now and 2024 TRMC in partnership with Australian Paper Industry Association (APIA) will work with industry for solutions on paper sorting and conversion solutions which will be presented to government for consideration of inclusion beyond 2024. 04.01.2022 Remembrance Day "The inquisitive mind of a child" Why are they selling poppies, Mummy?... Selling poppies in town today. The poppies, child, are flowers of love. For the men who marched away. But why have they chosen a poppy, Mummy? Why not a beautiful rose? Because my child, men fought and died In the fields where the poppies grow. But why are the poppies so red, Mummy? Why are the poppies so red? Red is the colour of blood, my child. The blood that our soldiers shed. The heart of the poppy is black, Mummy. Why does it have to be black? Black, my child, is the symbol of grief. For the men who never came back. But why, Mummy are you crying so? Your tears are giving you pain. My tears are my fears for you my child. For the world is forgetting again. Author Unknown https://anzacday.org.au/a-poem-for-remembrance-day

03.01.2022 FUN FACT Generations of comic book fans have only known the Incredible Hulk as a singular colour: an intense shade of green that matches the Hulks intense strength. The Hulk, however, was never intended to be green. Stan Lee and Jack Kirby originally drafted the Hulk in a pasty grey colour to portray him as a monster that he was. However, during printing, there were problems with the grey colouring. Each copy resulted in a different-hued Hulk, with some being green.... When this fell into the eyes of Stan Lee, he noticed that green suited Hulk better than grey. Rather than fight the press over an issue that proved to be not so important, they simply changed his colour. And so, after the first few issues, the Hulk became officially, instead of accidentally green.

02.01.2022 Recycling Right with SUEZ A massive thank you to Kevin from the Mackay Depot of SUEZ Australia and New Zealand who came to BB Print to give our staff a run through on our new venture with Suez and Beneficial Re-use of our recyclable materials. Since Australia can no longer export their recyclable waste to China we haven't been able to recycle our paper waste, so it was going straight to landfill.... We contacted Suez who were more than happy to help and work with us to come up with a new solution for our recyclable waste. It has been an amazing journey working with Suez over the last couple of months and we have learnt so much more about the impact we have on the environment. Thanks again to Kevin and his wonderful team. #suezmackay #bbprint #supportlocal #wepledgelocal #localssupportinglocals #recycleright
