24.01.2022 HOT OFF THE PRESS - NEW NORTH COAST FOOTBALL PARTNERSHIP Football is the biggest team sport on the NSW North Coast with over 5,000 players competing year-round in various competitions. In the pandemic affected 2020 season, around 300 teams took to the field every weekend in winter in the region. North Coast Football also runs a player development program for close to 200 children, providing higher coaching and competition levels for participants throughout the year. "Many ch...ildren and families are looking for more than just a community football experience each weekend. They want higher-level football week in week out," Mr Woodward said. "With the addition of the BDC Football Academy, there's another avenue for players to get even more involved and immersed in the world game." The partnership enables BDC to embed itself in the NCF Player Development Program. This partnership agreement aligns philosophies and allows BDC access to coaches, training resources and other pathway opportunities. It brings the BDC Football Academy into the football family with resources on tap. "For NCF, we see the BDC Football Academy as broadening the appeal of football. It is also an option for players who want more, increasing the pool of talent available for inclusion in player development programs," Mr Woodward said. Bishop Druitt College Principal, Mr Nick Johnstone, stated that "this partnership is a first for the North Coast and both BDC and NFC were excited by the potential this can offer our student-athletes." Mr Johnstone said, "I wish to thank Mr Andrew Woodward, the General Manager of NFC, and the Zone Committee for recognising our vision for the new BDC Football Academy and what this can mean for our region." 23.01.2022 BDC High Performance student Asher Fawle (#14) competing against NSW’s best in his first Division 1 race at the Illawarra Open Track Carnival recently. Ash was one of the youngest riders competing in a packed program run in near 40 C heatwave and had to ‘dig deep’ for a 3rd in his Kirin race. It was a great learning experience riding with the ‘top guns’ and fueled Asher’s commitment to the hard work and training needed to succeed in a very demanding sport. Well done Ash!! #bdchighperformanceprogram #thebdcway #highperformance

20.01.2022 For many years now, the role of fathers has changed and evolved. During the industrial revolution, fathers were often considered detached and distant due to working long hours in factories. However, today things have changed dramatically with many dads being celebrated for being sensitive, caring, and more hands-on. Recent studies have shown that children benefit greatly from having fathers who are present and interacting in everyday activities. This has transformed the under...standing of how fathers shape childrens lives from the start, challenging conventional ideas of parenthood and gender. Research also suggests that fathers influence their sons and daughters in different ways, which is especially true during their transition to adolescence. Engaging in regular physical activities can play a key role in influencing children to learn self-control, face challenges, regulate emotions and take manageable risks. In this Special Report, fathers will learn about the positive impact they can have on their childs mental health and wellbeing, whilst also ensuring they indulge in a little self-care. Check it out here: #wellbeing #fathers #mentalhealth #children #theBDCway https://schooltv.me/wellbeing_news/celebrating-fathers-day

20.01.2022 A beautiful afternoon learning about the Seabin at the Marina. Year 5 and 6 Round Square students led by their Year 11 leaders discovered how much plastic is collected by the Seabin each week. Phoebe and Conner counted all the micro plastics. The data is sent off every week and recorded along with the other Seabin data along the coast. Each week rainfall and wind conditions are reported on as this influences how much rubbish ends up in the Seabin. The amount of plastic coll...ected is but a drop in the ocean. The real value of the Seabin is in educating us to be more conscious about every piece of plastic we use and to think about where it ends up. Thank you Mr Close and Ms Hilton. Student comments: Amazing how the bin sucks water into it catching the plastics and stopping them floating away again. Its smaller than I thought. Put your trash in the bin or its a sin. #seabinproject #seabin #thebdcway #bishopdruittcollege #coffscoastnsw #coffsjetty See more

03.01.2022 Kindergarten had an exciting start to Week 9. Twenty-nine trainee farmers headed down to the oval on Monday morning to participate in some fun farm activities. Kindergarten started their day with a picnic crunch and sip after observing the produce being grown in the Year 5 garden. This was followed by step by step Damper-making which were then cooked by our lovely canteen staff for us to later enjoy. Kindergarten loved writing down each step of the procedure and were all keen... to take the recipe home to their families. Whilst the damper cooked, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and enjoyed a picnic recess followed by a play down on the oval. After Recess, the damper was a definite hit, and to cool down, Kindergarten participated in bucket filling competitions to hydrate the animals on their farms. It was a beautiful day down on the oval and by the time we finished our activities, the Kindies were ready to hang up their farm hats and cool down in the classroom. What a great day on the BDC farm!
