02.01.2022 Ghost crabs, also sometimes called Sand crabs though this is not technically correct... Characteristics of the subfamily include one claw being larger than the other, thick and elongated eyestalks, and a box-like body. Though they are mostly nocturnal they are named Ghost Crabs because of their ability to blend into the sandy beaches and dunes in which they live, and there is a whole lot of sand on this island!

01.01.2022 Right in the heart of the island is where you will find this unique sub tropical rainforest. FUN FACT - whats defined a rainforest... well the rainfall. A forest ecosystem must receive over 60 inches of rain per year to be considered a rainforest. It's not the plants, it's not the animals, it's the amount of rainfall it gets which depends on the density of the canopy. Rainforest typically have less that 25% sunlight that penetrates throu...gh to the forest flour. This rainforest is really unique too as it is the only one in the world that is growing entirely on a sand base. See more
