19.01.2022 It's all happening! We're walking on sunshine with news that the Port Macquarie Coastal Walk upgrade (from Charlie Uptin Walk to Flagstaff Hill) begins tomorro...w. We'll be widening the path, replacing the existing stairs to the beach, constructing a new viewing platform & boardwalk section, and upgrading the seating. We're anticipating to unveil the new section in time for Christmas. Pedestrian detours will be in place, and don't forget it's business as usual at the Salty Crew Kiosk. 18.01.2022 KOALA HOSPITAL RECEIVES MULTI-MILLION DOLLAR UPGRADE Port Macquarie's iconic Koala Hospital will undergo a multi-million dollar redevelopment. The NSW Gove...rnment has pledged $5 million towards the $6.25 million project. The redevelopment will include; A raised walkway through the trees, New rehabilitation and permanent resident koala yards, Training research and education spaces A retail shop and koala museum New clinic and administration area Indigenous story telling space Interpretive signage and educational nature walks will also be included. President of Koala Conservation Australia Sue Ashton says the redevelopment will help improve education on the decline of koala's and how to prevent it continuing. "We'll be taking our visitors up into the canopy ... with the koala's actually experiencing how they live how they eat." "Through this expansion and becoming world-class we'll be able to extend our reach of education to the public and the community." The hospital will remain open during the redevelopment.
