22.01.2022 Meet Lou, he came into our foster care program at the start of July when his family moved and couldnt take him with them. He is 10 years old and has a few medical issues going on. He is atripohied in his back legs, which is muscle weakness that causes his legs to shake, he has multiple lesions on his abdomen and face. He is safe with his foster family for the time being while we make sure all his medical needs are taken care of. . Here he has a beagle brother for company, an...d a human sister, but his most favourite thing to do is steal his foster Dads socks and clothing! Tara is quite big for a beagle, and many who have met her are surprised by her size - she weighs about 26kg and is a big foodie so will need someone who is willing to help watch her weight. She also may be able to live with cats, although she can be a little scared of them so your cat would need to be well accustomed to living with dogs and dog-social. 20.01.2022 We have some very special patch work doggie quilts to sell and help us raise some funds for the beagles, our extremely talented supporter Doris has spent many many hours carefully and beautifully hand making all of these quilts for us! Ferntree Gully siblings Lachlan and Monique have kept busy raising money for a good cause during Victorias lockdown, running a lemonade and biscuit stall for Beagle Rescue Victoria. Mum Vicky said the pair decided to run the stall outside their house while they were homeschooling, inspired to help other beagles like their beloved 13-year-old pet Penny. They have raised more than $100 for the charity. Lachlan, 10, and Monique, 8, go to Ferntree Gully North Primary School and have completed a project on their stall which they will present to their classmates when they return to school next week. Vicky said she was so proud of their efforts. I was really proud of them because they wanted to donate the money, she said. I showed them the website to Beagle Rescue Victoria and asked them Do you want it donated here and they both decided they wanted to do that. The siblings made the lemonade and biscuits themselves and ran the stall on their own. As well as passer-bys, the siblings were also supported by donations from neighbours. 15.01.2022 Another vet visit this week, this time we can introduce Maggie! At 2.5 years old, life hasnt exactly been kind to her so far, both physically and emotionally, but due to the kindness of a special human, her old life on a chain is a fading memory. . Maggie definitely needs a home with hound experience, a calm and nurturing environment, either as an only dog or with a male hound who will help her grow and learn. No female dogs. . Maggies new humans need to be able understand... that she will be more trusting with females than males, and thats for very good reasons. Maggie has had some really bad experiences with a male, who, in the past has been very cruel to her. . 08.01.2022 Our handsome Sam having one of his regular vet checks this week. Sam was surrendered with a football sized tumor on his side/abdomen, its so big that it has intertwined with his insides and cannot be surgically removed. Luckily its benign and lucky for him, he is part of our Hibby Foundation, where we will look after all his needs for the rest of his life. . Sam is nearly 12, he is happy and he is safe in forever foster with our resident experts on oldies! They know how to... spoil and take the most amazing care of our old beagles for as long as they need to. Sam gets regular checks to make sure he is comfortable and happy. 06.01.2022 Simply Divine and magical girls looking for a beagle experienced forever family to call their own. Please dont ask for the girls to be split, they are inseparable and need each other. Please PM our page directly for further information. Ruby and Mustard are just the cutest They have both come out of their shell since arriving in the shelter, however have a long way to go!. Ruby seems to be the quieter one out of the pair and is happy resting and lazing in the sun. Mustard i...s busy exploring and sniffing every inch of the room which is typical of her Beagle traits. They love to curl up with each other and find comfort with one another. They haven't had the greatest start to life but they are willing to make up for that in their new home together! Mustard builds confidence with people through Ruby's interest to approach and will follow her lead. They are just waiting for the right time to come out of their shell and show their cheeky side! They will need a patient owner who will teach them the world is not a scary place and expose them to it slowly, as they haven't lived in a home environment before. They both will approach and eat from your hand. They will need all the basics toilet training and have had no formal training. They would prefer a quieter home as they might find a busy home a little overwhelming. Older children maybe ok pending meet and greet. Both dogs have not been reactive and are interested in other dogs, able to sniff other dogs and will continue to walk on. 06.01.2022 Update on our sock stealing Lou: he had all his lumps and bumps taken out a few weeks ago and has made a full recovery, he was back stealing socks in no time at all, he’s such a tough cookie! His lumps were not good lumps, they included; Soft tissue sarcoma grade 1, cutaneous squamos cell carcinoma, cutaneous hermangiosarcoma, chronic actinic dermatitis with laminar fibrosis, adnexal hyperplasia / dysplasia and chronic perifolliculitis. But our amazing vets managed to remov...e them all with good margins! Good boy Lou! Lou is part of our Hibby Foundation so we cover all his medical needs. Lou’s medical costs to date are $1213.20. 05.01.2022 Jensen getting a check up at the vet today, he wasnt feeling too well. All is good though and he will be off to the specialist soon to see if he needs double TPLO surgery. Jensen was released from a research facility recently and is currently enjoying himself in foster care while we wait for a specialist spot during Melbournes lockdown. These are just a few of the beagles that we have in our Hibby Foundation Program, this program is for the special needs and golden oldies. 1) Bumbies: Released from a puppy farm a few years ago, she nearly died when a botched desexing done by the puppy farmers vet ended up with her prolapsed and back in surgery within hours of being in our care. All these years later and she is still having issues because of that.... So we keep her in our forever foster program so we can keep a close eye on her health, and cover all the medical needs she has for the rest of her life. 2) Morty: 11 years old and suffering from seizures. Hes been having a few big ones lately so we are keeping a very close watch on him to make she sure he is okay. 3) Bella, a feisty 14+ year old girl, deaf but so full of life! Shes happy in our program so we will keep her heath and wellness covered for the rest of her life too. 03.01.2022 This is Old Bella, after 14 years of being passed around to family members and being kept outside, she found her way to us. She was an anxious mess, her family didn’t even know that she was completely deaf. Her coat was like straw. After lots of care and visits to our amazing vets, she is feeling much better these days. Bella is part of our Hibby Foundation forever fosters, so we take care of all her medical needs for the rest of her life. 03.01.2022 safely home, thanks to everyone who helped and kept an eye out for her We have been alerted by some caring animal lovers that a beautiful senior beagle is on the run in Wendouree, Ballarat. We do not have any other details other than what is posted or know who this beagle is but with temperatures dropping and this beautiful old girl needing help we are putting a call out to any beagle/dog lovers in the Wendouree area to help search for her.... She was last seen yesterday afternoon in Marie Cresecent, Wendouree. A lovely man by the name of Nathan had managed to get her before she slipped away again, he has continued looking for her ever since. He has seen her twice in 48 hours but there hasnt been a sighting since last night. If anyone manages to see her please PM our page or comment here. Thank you so much, lets see if we can get this girl safely home Edited to say: she has been spotted in the last hour in the same street, if anyone local is able to help and head down to Marie Crescent that would be amazing. 01.01.2022 Meet Toby, surrendered this week. Toby is a 6 year old boy and has just had his vet work completed today, he weighed in at 19kg and for a little 15inch beagle, that’s a lot!
