16.01.2022 Journalist Christine Jackman begins her book 'Turning Down The Noise' by drawing us in to the maelstrom of her professional and personal life, one so intense and complex she managed it by running two phones. It’s a convincing starting point for her search for calm, while still functioning in a hectic environment. She says: Very few of us have the option of dedicating our lives entirely to silent practicesbutthe quality of almost any activity is improved when we are fully p...resent, focussed and fuelled by the sort of calm awareness that silence fosters. Join Meri Fatin in conversation with Christine Jackman to explore how to achieve more by doing less. Why not get a few of your work colleagues on board too? Tuesday 13th October 6pm AWST via ZOOM. Tickets $10 via our events page or head to www.beaufortstreetbooks.com.au

10.01.2022 As we are holding a Christmas Food Drive for Foodbank WA, we would be most appreciative of your support again, which you have given so generously for the past two years. This year has been a particularly tough one for many WA families so we are keen to have a great response this year. Perhaps just pick up a couple of items next time you go shopping, then drop them in to Bookshop. All non-perishable items within their use-by dates will be gratefully received, but please, nothing in glass containers. Many thanks!

10.01.2022 We have a fantastic line up of guests for our Beyond Words Bookclub discussion this Tuesday 27th October at 6pm via ZOOM. We will be discussing Craig Silvey’s new novel Honeybee. Meri Fatin as facilitator will be joined by Alyce Shotte (TransFolk of WA), Geraldine Blake and Sam Carmody (author of The Windy Season). Similar in style to the ABC Tuesday bookclub with Jennifer Byrne, this will run on the 4th Tuesday of every month, and is a great opportunity for people to be part... of a bookclub. Meri Fatin sums up what this bookclub is all about: We’ll be choosing books that have strong themes, and a panel to match, so our discussion will extend from the detail of the storytelling to the importance, relevance and impact of the themes themselves. Geraldine’s review of Honeybee: "Honeybee is proof of the value and validity of fiction, and the brilliance of authors who can successfully portray life experiences far beyond their own. What a gift that is to readers. And what a gift this book will be to any young person suffering the way that Sam did." Tickets $10. Hope to see you there.
