19.01.2022 Woman on Fire ...a poem by me See the lady bathing in the lake Watch her... Shes wild and free Notice her wet hair Like the fresh morning dew That clips at her feet She bathes not for you But she follows her sense To the deep dark river That her ancestors built A little house by the lake And a fire outside Where rosellas and parakeets Parade their tails And she hears through the rustle Of treetops and leaves That the bowerbirds tip toeing In the forest of green As the light fades to dark And the lady retreats You can see that she nestles In under a tree And she pulls out a notebook And pencil to start As the words that she writes Might soon be her last For the fire that burns In her ancestors house Is the one that she feels Inside her right now And shes angry and scared And rages like wild Winds blowing and swirling Throughout the night air And you see on the paper A tiny gold drop Of tear that you swear Must have come from a Copper boiled coin from the past Where her ancestors lived But the lady you saw Left no trace of it all And you never did notice Her slip through the veil From the bathing wild woman To the one never there And you wonder, no wrestle, With thoughts near insane Did you really just watch her By the wild water there? 18.01.2022 The theme Im noticing in my world over the past few weeks is the practice of moving and embracing the flow of natures intelligence. The intrinsic sense of time that our world works on. The way plants, flowers and trees know how to bloom and grow at their own pace. The way our heartbeat keeps time without us needing to D.O. anything.... The way that the foundations we lay for our business, in time, reap their rewards. Im acutely aware of the inklings of this growth in my self, family, and business this week, so here they are. ---- The Creating Your Business Plan email course I wrote for MYOB is now LIVE after sitting in a COVID hiatus for a few months. The WomanSpeak Circle training Ive been steeping myself in is coming to a close. And our online and face-to-face circles that teach the art and soul of authentic public speaking are opening next month. The music Im making with my beautiful pianist friend is coming out fast and furious. The new online community sales page Ive been crafting and refining with Nataly Tormey (Harry Helper and The Parentmedic Movement programs) is turning into a beautiful piece of non-sleazy sales meets art. And the BEST part of it all for me is that my family is well. Happy. Healthy. Growing. Communicating. And supporting each other. In this FAST paced world, we forget to remember how wonderful we are and how vital the work were in this world is. Were carving a path for the next few hundreds of years of humans to thrive. 13.01.2022 Todays musings: Scrap willpower and take action. Stop waiting for motivation to magically show up. We are conditioned as humans to maintain the status quo and not take risks outside our comfort zone because---ah we might die or lose money or whatever it is. If you can be ok with losing everything again thats the biggest motivator. I always know I can get a job tomorrow (well not tomorrow thanks COVID-19) working in a cafe- and I know that from there I can survive and build ...myself up again. Forget about getting overwhelmed about the big dream and the what ifs about it happening or not happening. Break that dream down into bite-sized chunks that might lead you there and then break them down into smaller chunks and start with the smallest chunks today. Easy, little action steps each day lead to momentum and you have more chance of realising your dreams with momentum backing you. Do fewer things- more often and consistently doing that- you will be on the way to realising your dreams. See more
13.01.2022 When youre speaking off and online, start with a hook to capture the audiences attention. You can start with the unexpected, make it about the audience or tune into emotion. If youre a fun and playful brand, make them laugh - laughter is VERY persuasive If youre a sensitive and grounded brand, tell a heartfelt story - confessing something personal makes the audience feel connected to you ... If youre a sassy and confident (NO BS) brand, challenge their thinking - tell a good story and get their full attention. Youve only got a small window of time to get people to listen, do it authentically, do it like you. See more

13.01.2022 What if you felt safe to speak up? Im sure weve all felt this. I get it when I need to have an important, edgy, truth-telling one-on-one conversation with someone important in my life (like my husband or someone I work with).... Some feel it like a bomb going off inside their body in anticipation of standing up to speak publicly in front of a group. Many are experiencing the inner call to speak deep truth in our society at this time. In overturning generations of oppression, its crucial we speak up for what is just. But our conditioning as women to be "good girls" and not be "too much" or "rock the boat" can bring up incredible fear before saying the things we know we need to say. Where does it feel scary for you to share your voice in your own life? Really, theres no way around it: sharing our voice and speaking our truth publicly and personally can feel intense and even terrifying. Unfortunately, a lot of public speaking and communication trainings teach people to numb these sensations out, or perform over them, or power stance their way through it. Those can work to a certain degree, but what we lose in those practices is feeling the depths of the essence of the person speaking in front of us. We lose feeling that persons heart. We lose feeling the deep well of soul of the person speaking. In WomanSpeak (the training Im licensed to share) we learn practices that help a woman to connect to her own internal safety so that even when fear and intensity arises in her body before she speaks, she can rest in her own inner freedom. The strategy was to use a warm, friendly and conversational tone of voice while hitting the key pain points, and desires of the customers.... 10.01.2022 When I was small my favourite game was charades I loved how spontaneous it was and how specific you needed to be to get your message across. No words, right. Just actions. I played it with my family and at sleepovers with my GFs.... These days, I aim to keep the fun in all that I do. To be breath of fresh air in my clients day. Because lifes too short to be boring and serious about everything. We can learn a lot about trusting our instincts from playing charades. A skill we can all use in business and life. 10.01.2022 COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING For speakers, podcasters, presenters ... even mums I was asked on the No Labels No Limits podcast with @boxxsarah about how I help people build confidence around speaking up. ... The deepest part of this is guiding my clients to feel a sense of safety around using their voice. As women, weve been led to believe we need to be quiet, demure or accommodating in order to fit in with our pack. So we need to peel back those beliefs that keep us small and practice believing theres another truth for us. In more practical terms, you can gain confidence by focusing on the clarity of your voice and sounds. So heres a quick tip To help with enunciation (your words being heard and understood clearly) practice saying ONLY the consonants in your podcast intro script, then practice saying ONLY the vowels. This will bring more thoughtfulness to your words and improve how the audience hears your message! DM me for more tips! See more

04.01.2022 The longest place Ive lived in since I was 15 was my last rental home on the Gold Coast. If youre already feeling unsettled I promise you, this story has some grounding. Out of the 19 places Ive called home over the past 22 years, the apartment Im writing this note from is the first place Im paying a mortgage on.... And its something I didnt really believe possible for me. You see Ive always valued my dreams over practical realities. Before I joined the online world as a copywriter and voiceover artist was on the career path as a triple threat performer (we were really called that ...how savage!) As an artist in the cut-throat entertainment industry, youve got to grow a thick skin. Your friends are your competitors and your community is elbowing you out of the way for one of the prized spots in a commercial musical contract. Im watching "Yellowstone" right now (Kevin Costner is cast so well in those outdoorsy movies!) and Im relating to the lone wolf symbol a lot. Recently, Ive been learning that this symbol doesnt work for me anymore. Nor for my family or clients. Ive been facing the uncomfortable reality that as a small business owner I need a new mindset of community vs competition. And a new symbol for how that looks in my life. Because its in a community that we go farther, longer, and deeper in business and life. As a wolf pack. And thats why Im going back to basics. Putting down roots in my new-ish local community (almost 16 months in one spot, folks!) and starting a face to face public speaking training circle as well as one online.
