19.01.2022 Thursday Sunrise Flow Serene and strong, fluid and subtle This weeks class will focus on ... The Water Element -JALA This element is connected to fluidity, creativity and sexuality. The practice can help us to rebalance, become unstuck and connect with our intuition. Water is a heavy and dense element yet light and fluid. Often connected to a sense of fluidity, flow, cleansing and purifying. It is associated with emotions, the aspect of consolidation and also the feminine (yin) aspects of ourselves. 19.01.2022 I like to think of this as effortlessness effort. In a posture notice where you can put your energy and where you can soften. If the structure of the posture is not there it makes it difficult to know how to balance these energies. ... Know your yoga and find this sense of ease in your practice. Thanks Joel Kramer #effortlesseffort #yogaknowledge #surrender
17.01.2022 Tonight we flow with the water element @purehealthclubs 6:15-7:15. Look forward to seeing you in the cool of the studio.
17.01.2022 This morning I began my day with some asana and pranayama practice. I set my intention for my day. I carved out space for myself. Feeling grateful to start my week this way. What will you do for yourself today? #happymonday #intention #homepracticeyoga #thichnhathanh
16.01.2022 Morning movement... much slower than this obviously. Time disappears quickly so taking these moments make such a big difference to my day. What are your morning rituals that put you into a good space for your day? #morningroutines #yogamakesmyfuckingday #becjonesyoga
15.01.2022 Fierce and kind in one sentence really appeals to me. I relate it to the Buddhist view about kindness can mean setting boundaries with other people. Be fierce, be kind, be tough and tender. Lots of love to those who are in lockdown at the moment. Love love love you you all #brenebrownquotes #kindness #fiercewoman
14.01.2022 In times of anxiety I have noticed I get caught in each breath searching for a deeper breath that I can’t find. Psychologically there is something about shifting ones focus to the continuing, the many, the rhythm. It is undoubtedly soothing, helping us to move away from one breath at a time and cultivating a sense of space. I think this is a fantastic strategy and as studies show it really helps alleviate stress. #breathwork #rolfsovik
14.01.2022 The only thing we really know for sure is that nothing stays the same. Life ebbs and flows and the more we can accept this the less resistance we create. This doesn’t mean we have no control. ... We can manifest, work towards, take a leap of faith and still not really know where will land. Having practices that help you adapt and process are gold. Find your magic carpet xo Thanks @eckharttolle for these words. #surrender #eckharttolle
12.01.2022 Change is inevitable, continuous and unavoidable. So How Yoga Can Help Yogain its widest sensecan give us the strength and insight we need to navigate the most radical forms of change. Equally as important as the practices of yoga are some of yoga's basic (and highly applicable) teachingsthe recognition that we affect the exterior by working on the interior, that behind the diversity of life lies a fundamental oneness, that real strength is found in stillness, and that our... true Self is not the shifting, fearful, egoic person that we sometimes seem to be. One test of your yoga practice is how well it serves you during a time of big change. Yogic teachings won't necessarily keep you from feeling scared, overwhelmed, or confused. But they can rise up within you like a wise friend to guide you through those feelings so that you don't get lost in them. They can even help you avoid getting mired in indecision, or jumping impulsively without thinking things through. These insightful words are from Sally Kempton This week we will be building steadiness, resilience and acceptance through our flowing morning practice. 11.01.2022 DETOX and DIGEST - Saturdays 7am Class (online Qld time) Yoga, along with most physical exercise, helps the body’s natural detoxification systems to function properly. The body’s lymphatic system and blood continuously deliver metabolic waste to the liver, kidneys and digestive organs. This waste, along with other toxins absorbed from the environment, gets filtered and eliminated through urine, sweat, solid waste and even during exhalations.... Twists do help to stimulate our organs, including the organs responsible for elimination, which in turn can help stimulate our metabolism and rate of excretion. Twists also stimulate circulation; release tension in the muscles of the spine, abdomen and ribcage; and help to create heat. But we can also make choices that mean we are ingesting less. Less social media, less screens, less consuming more connection with ourself and more connection with those around us. At this time of year there is so much ACTIVITY so in this class will cleanse and purify, and bring our focus inward so we are energised and ready for this social time of year. 11.01.2022 Where we continually put our focus that’s where we focus. It’s as simple as that. We are in unprecedented times and it’s fair to say there are a lot of things that out of our control. ... But Notice where you place your attention. Start with the everyday things. Mmmm this cup of tea is warm and makes me feel good. That morning sun looks beautiful shimmering on the tree. Advice I was given recently when I was feeling overwhelmed. Focus more of your attention on what you can control and less on what you can’t This is a good way to reduce stress and suffering. Notice the small stuff Stay focused on what you can control, And that starts within. Much love to you
10.01.2022 Today is Full Moon . Take a moment to look up.
10.01.2022 B R E A T H Deep breaths are more efficient: they allow your body to fully exchange incoming oxygen with outgoing carbon dioxide. One of the biggest benefits of diaphragmatic breathing is reducing stress. Diaphragmatic breathing has a ton of benefits. It’s at the center of the practice of meditation, which is known to help manage a wide range of conditions. ... Here are more benefits this type of breathing can have: * It helps you relax, lowering the harmful effects of the stress hormone cortisol on your body. * It lowers your heart rate * It helps lower your blood pressure * It helps you cope with the symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). * It improves your core muscle stability. * It improves your body’s ability to tolerate intense exercise. * It lowers your chances of injuring or wearing out your muscles. * It slows your rate of breathing so that it expends less energy. Being stressed keeps your immune system from working at full capacity. This can make you more susceptible to numerous conditions. Some deep breathing exercises can help you reduce these effects of stress. SÓ take a deep breath... then another.... then another #deepbreathing #calmyourmind #healyourbody
10.01.2022 Ah his is my son aged 4 years old. We were at the land where I spent much of my childhood. Every morning he would ask for me to take him to see the horses.... We would walk down the hill, across the creek, up to the paddock and then find the horses. The fresh morning air cutting onto our faces, and the smell of eucalypts and the sounds of morning bird song. When a child becomes a teenager their friends become the most important thing in the world. They don’t always want to walk with you, they don’t always want to tell you what’s going on for them. Parenting teenagers requires so much bloody patience and love. Sigh So today on this Monday morning, I am sending love to all the parents who need to be acknowledged for trying to guide another human through the changeable tides of the teenage years! I see you #parentingteens #yogamum @ Brisbane, Queensland, Australia

09.01.2022 But How Do I Find A Meditation Style Thays Right For Me? Ease and Enjoyment There is a great diversity of methodologies. If you live a very relaxed life, then you may wish to consider a meditation practice to keep those cogs-a-whirring and your attention sharp. But if you live a busy, demanding life, then you may wish to consider more relaxing techniques, which will provide a rejuvenating contrast to the demands of modern life.... Effectiveness Focused Attention practices can be very useful at delivering targeted outcomes like compassion, but scientifically, the Open Monitoring, used a lot in Buddhist meditation. Placing awareness on things such as your breath, your feelings or thoughts, with a view of detaching yourself from the grip of your ever-wandering mind. And AST methods such as Vedic Meditation and Transcendental Meditation . No contemplation is involved, simply the gentle repetition of a mantra that has been specifically chosen for the individual. These mantric vibrations create a soothing effect on the nervous system. Practicality What time can you make available to practice. And consider where you will be able meditate. Can you practice anywhere, or do you need to be in a solitary quiet space in order to do the technique successfully? If you are constrained by the limitation of finding a suitable setting, you may find your ability to keep up the practice is limited by circumstance. So, those techniques which are portable will be easier to integrate into your life. Don’t be put off if you try one method and it doesn’t suit you. Keep it real- set your goals small to begin with. Remember we all have monkey minds so if you ain’t feeling like you are reaching enlightenment by week 2 RELAX Be kind to yourself always #meditation #relaxation #lifestylegoals #lorinroche

07.01.2022 Practice, patience, process. The journey of yoga is not always a joyous process.. why ? Because sometimes we feel things we don’t want to. It’s a good sign to feel whatever arises throughout your practice. This is part of what is so liberating about the practice of yoga #freedom #selfrealization #yoga
06.01.2022 Feel into your practice. You have an innate intelligence that knows what you need. Take the time to go inward, to feel, to discover what you need. This is how I start my own practice everyday. #yogaeveryday #donnafarhi #homepracticeyoga
06.01.2022 The present moment. This present moment. Whatever it feels like it will change. ... But if we run from it how can we ever experience it fully. Some things can bring you home into the moment. Notice what they are... these are your tools, I like to call them my ticket, my ticket to take a ride home. They can be as simple as sipping a cup of warm tea, watching the morning sun dance in the trees, the smell of coffee brewing or the feeling of sand under your feet. These experiences that help you to feel aligned, balance, home are gifts to allow you to experience life fully. Notice, notice, notice
